Timely... I've got a proposal being looked at by a producer (it's an idea he pitched to me!) and am waiting to hear back from him. I'm getting my info together for his and my next conversation and, although it's based on a script of mine that he read and wanted me to rewrite it for him, I am approaching it like it's a pitch session. And, checking my email (to see if a bullwhip maker got back to me about my custom order--yeah, I got hobbies, what of it?), I see I got your email with the link to this video. Heck, I can take a break and watch!

Camera epileptic accident on the graveyard scene of Steel Magnolias where Sally is screaming and yelling and running away from the people. The scene was so intense that I was sure it was a little too much for me camera operator who had to go actr her and the whole thing went down horribly as a trendy way of filming (which was the nerve wracking Blair Witch

The most emotional and surprising moment in my entire movie history was a scene where Albert Finney was in a black and white horror film . It was the last scene that he was submerged in a tub with blood swirling around his head full of water.The mistake that the camera man made was being too close to his submerged head ,eyes wide and so violent, he laughed and water splattered on the lens . It felt like I was there in danger. He was in New Orleans at the time of Millers Crossing shooting and I was in a restaurant with a group that had been in the filming. I think it was serendipitous that he started talking to me and I had never seen that old movie and searched for it. He said that it was banned in most places but he said he was going to do that again and he did it in “Big Fish “

So then every time I buy a director's cut I'm buying an invalid version of the film? It's like this, everyone has an opinion. If you have too many cooks in the kitchen you get something unrecognizable. Movies that are made for the masses are commercial and not artistic. If they're meant to please everyone then they'll be watered down, cookie cutter, typical.

Thank you both! Loved the take on cinema's reminiscence of sitting around the campfire telling stories. An ember glowed in my mind's eye from 30 years ago. A true and miraculous story was told round a campfire on a beach at night. And I wrote about it. I think it's a good time to relight that fire.

Wow. This film was amazing. It made me laugh and cry, and touched me deeply. Thank you for sharing it. At the end it said, "To be continued"... I will look out for the sequel, and check out more of your work. It was absolutely beautiful. heartwarming, and heartbreaking. It is intelligent how you designed it to make people living in our time feel seen, heard, understood, loved, encouraged, and empathised with. Which in turn can bring out our kindness to others, self-empathy, understanding of ourselves and our situation, and look to a vision of a better plan and act in alignment with creating this. I only fully realised at the end what you had done. The innocence and tenderness that you embodied, the confusion, the way that 'crazy' people can be more open to truths but are sometimes more vulnerable to harm, how your loving nature is mistaken for weakness and stupidity, yet she shows great intelligence and adaptability, the way that you spark self-awareness in some other characters, how they begin to open up to what they realise they need and want. It was all just so incredibly beautiful and simultanerously heartwrenchingly sad... the innocence, fear, pain, isolation, the way that people don't even know how isolated they are. It touched the most tender place in my heart, the place where I store all of my love, loss, hopes and dreams... the softest, most vulnerable place. And at the end, I saw the meaning that you want us to take from it, and it is extremely effective. Also... Best robbery scene that I've seen. "You have to pay to live... ?" Wow... this just says so much. I feel that by creating a vision of a better plan, a better way of living, and combining this with such empathy, understanding, and recognition of the hardships of society, it bridges the gap between these two ways of living, and makes it feel more possible for us to see the way forward and act on it.

Great advice, Ela! Consistently great. When I hear characters speaking in monologues, I think of Aaron Sorkin. He pulls it off. Others not so much. I'm glad I signed up for your course.

I've taken half a dozen classes and webinars, and read script writing books where they talk about plot, characters, story, etc. The one thing I've been searching for is exactly THIS!! ⬆ Since I've not been to film school, I've been struggling to fully understand formatting and how to use it. You provide and excellent concise message here.

Unbelievable! I took a screenwriting class in school that focused more on characters and dialogue. I feel like I grown some wings! Talk about the missing link. And it's done so effortlessly at the speed of light...you think you're not keeping up, but you are absorbing it all. Effortlessly.
