    Getting ready to regear the 14 bolt in my ‘83 Chevy. I’m pretty unfamiliar with this whole process and this video seems to contain a lot of good information. Would all of this be applicable to an early 80’s 14 bolt? Also, do you know of any good 14 bolt service manuals or other literature?

    Thanks, love your video. I'm rebuilding a TH350 for my neighbor. Somebody I don't know just rebuilt this one and it wouldn't do anything. put it on it's back on a bench, pulled the pan then pulled the valve body. Between the valve body and the steel plate was one flat washer laying on the steel towards the rear of the trans? I don't think space between the two pieces is a speed secret. Don't know how or why and I know it doesn't there. Thanks again ANB

    “Just a 4.8L.” Man I had so much fun with my ‘03 Silverado 4.8. It was a short bed standard cab 2wd so it was small for a truck but still weighed like 4600 lbs, I think? Would it be OK to do the regear before doing the truss's? I'm just thinking regear and locker install, remove Super Duty brackets and weld on new trusses and paint everything and you're done. Also, would it hurt the bearings and seals to have the axle powder coated after the regear?

    • @WarPaintOffroad
      @WarPaintOffroad 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@wademyers6051 having the axle coated after the regear wouldn’t hurt provided you tell them it has gears in it and you want to protect them. However, I wouldn’t powdercoat. If you take it Offroad you’ll scratch them up no matter what you coat them in. That’s why I recommend a durable spray paint. You can easily touch that up. You can’t touch up powdercoating. You CAN do gears before trusses. You just have to be careful with heat when welding on the trusses in the area of the axle tubes. Plus the air fitting will have to be drilled in the area that the truss slows the fitting to pass through. So it is easier to do the truss first. But it can be done the other way.

    Was down a rabbit hole not being able to get rid of a P0420 on my 2011 JK Wrangler. Ended up replacing the bank 1 O2 sensors with a Chinese brand off Amazon thinking that would fix it - NOPE! ... tested replacement o2 sensors and they were giving off too 6 ohms across heater element. CEL's for "high-voltage" persisted (NTK & Mopars give off 3.5 ohms). Almost bought new Catalytic convertors (also tried cleaning the cats & even using the spark plug non-fouler trick but CEL's persisted due to cheapo O2 sensors - non-foulers will not work if your cheap sensors are sending incorrect voltages to the PCM). After much research, discovered the JK is super sensitive to o2 sensors. Ended up buying the NTK brand and they worked perfectly. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER o2 SENSOR on a JK than NTK or MOPAR (Bosch is too sensitive and will trigger CEL's). NTK website has a part lookup function (note: upstream and downstream are different part numbers). NTK are more expensive but TOTALLY worth it. Cheap sensors are not worth the hassle. Another key tip: O2 sockets are not meant to "break loose" difficult sensors - the wrench (link below), with a hammer, worked perfectly for breaking loose the sensor (after broken loose, then you can use the slotted sensor socket). Also, use PB blaster the night before. Note: Always use a thread chaser & high-temp anti-seize before inserting new sensor www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I6TBHE0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

    My decision to go one ton axles was they are easiest to find and cheaper than a Dana 44 for the front . People want thousands for a Dana 44 used when I can get a Dana 60 and build it . I found a GM 14 10.5 for 250.00 complete . A 2006 F250 super duty Dana 60 for 400.00 . In the long run it will cost the same to build these axles as it would my rear axle and a Dana 44 front axle

    I’m currently setting up my 14 bolt gears and my install kit didn’t come with shims to put under the inner bearing. Where did you get the shim that you used? I tried setting it up without a shim under the bearing and I’m coming up shallow with a .005 housing shim and slightly deep without any shims behind the pinion support.

    • @WarPaintOffroad
      @WarPaintOffroad 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The packs don’t come with them. But you can get one by just using Amazon and ordering a Dana 50 carrier shim pack. They fit well. Or…you can skip that step and just externally shim. The inner shim is just a precaution. But it’s not 100% necessary. Your backlash will also adjust your pattern slightly. So get it close and adjust that. You might be surprised.

    • @WarPaintOffroad
      @WarPaintOffroad 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have 3.5 springs front and rear. The measurement you would take on your jeep on flat ground would be to determine if you even need the extenders. That is a cheap way of doing it if you have 2 inches of wasted shock when you are at full bump. But if you don’t…the. You aren’t wasting enough shock to take advantage of them. So it just depends.

I am a first time 4 x 4 enthusiast so I don’t know much about it other than what I’ve watched so far on your channel and others was considering doing-a terraflex 2 1/2 inch lift kit, but not wanting to spend more than 2000, this is also a daily driver for me.

      Great question. A 2.5 is perfect and will be relatively inexpensive. When you go higher (like a 3.5) you have to do many other things you don’t at a 2.5. With that said, I’d look into Rock Krawler springs and pair them with Bilstein 5100 shocks. They work very well together.
