Why not ise a leaf spring super duty super 60 axel. Minimal cutting
It’s a weaker axle. The 2005 and up superduty had a whole list of things done to it to make it stronger.
I don't like you
If I was gonna use two chevy axles which one would I use for the front? And would the ram and everything be compatible?
The ram would work…but the trusses, high steer arms, etc wouldn’t. Tbh, I’m not sure what Chevy axle you would want to use in the front. You have to think about wheels speed sensors and the aftermarket support. People generally use the ford axle in front because it’s easier to make it work.
I'm considering the jump to metalcloak 4.5 full link bolt on long arms OR the 4.5 Midarm gamechanger. Trying to save the $$$ if possible but wondering if I'll regret the midarm decision? It does have the DB3 drop bracket. Hoping to get your opinion? 🙏 I gotta decide before black friday sale I'm really struggling cuz it's a big investment
I would stay away from metal cloak personally. Metal cloak does a lot of things in their marketing to convince people they are better…when they aren’t any better. For example…”mid arms” aren’t a thing. They are short arms. You aren’t changing the attachment point in the frame or the axle. So they are just as long as the factory short arms. They call them mid arms because they are adjustable (for alignment purposes) so they can be made SLIGHTLY longer than a factory short arm. But it’s not long enough to make a difference. They also do this with their “long travel” shocks. The compressed length and extended length of their shock is the same as a comparable Bilstein. But because they call them long travel people thing they are getting something better….and then they over charge for it all. Like you even said, it’s a big investment with them. Get a 4.5 inch spring from someone like Rock Krawler. Get a Bilstein shock that is comparable. Use the control arm relocation bracket in the front and pick up a set of control arms when you can. If you go 4.5 you’ll still need a front drive shaft immediately and eventually a rear as well. Pick up extended brake lines from powerstop. That is the cheapest way you’ll be able to put your jeep 4.5 inches taller with something that performs well. That’s my advice.
Great video! Very informative and detailed! Nice work!
I have never commented on a video before, but this deserves a thanks. Thanks!
Why does your yoke just slide onto the pinion gear so easily? Mine is really tight and would need to use a puller each time I do a shim, is this correct? Or would a new yoke fix this issue?
A new yoke might make it easier. Tbh, mine doesn’t slide all the way on. It just slides on enough to have the old pinion nut push it in the rest of the way. It’s definitely snug.
Would a possible solution to the turning radius issue be 4 wheel steer?
That would make it better for sure. But it’s a huge expense. And not always necessary.
My enduro did the same thing clunking like crazy all the way back to the trailer.
Man that happens. They are generally quieter. But it happens. Bummer.
I’d love to make a TH-cam channel. I feel like I’ve got quite a bit of knowledge, a good amount of experience, a quality built rig that performs well, I live in a state where there’s plenty of off-roading, and I think I’m a genuine and likable guy. My biggest problem is, I don’t see how I can have consistent content. I’m not rich. I’m an average guy, working an average job, supporting a wife, supporting kids who are ever growing, supporting a house and bills that don’t stop, etc. I don’t buy brand new parts every single week. I don’t go wheeling every single week. There can be weeks on end where I don’t do anything with my Jeep. Then there could be weeks on end where I’m constantly upgrading and building and constantly wheeling. My content wouldn’t be consistent, and when I do post content I just don’t feel that it would be enjoyable enough for people to want to wait weeks to see something that might be enjoyable again.
Great video. I've had my channel for almost 2 years and have not hit 1000 subscribers yet. I will get there but it is something I work on when I can. It is a long road especially when you are doing it just because you enjoy making the videos and helping people. I enjoy your channel and appreciate your information.
Great video, I’m glad you talked about not promoting the low quality products as if they’re the worlds best it’s so common in the offroad world to see that.
you are not a big time tuber with millions of subscribers because you aren't showing cleavage and putting on a clown show. you put knowledge and how to in your videos and that is what I look for on the tube.
I appreciate that. And there are a lot of people looking for that. I just get asked a lot about people wanting to start their own. And people that want to know what I did. So I thought this was an easy way to do that. Maybe help some people which is what this channel is all about. Now back to the regularly scheduled Offroad stuff! Haha.
If this works tomorrow, I’m going to be so happy. I’ve got a ’19 F-350 with Moog ball joints, and I just replaced the upper and lower ones. Every time I torqued them to spec and tried moving the knuckle, it was way too stiff. Tomorrow, I’m going to pop out the caster sleeves, give them a rinse, and do like you did. We’ll see if it fixes the issue
Another great video. I cannot find that adaptor for the Dana. Any recommendations
Stretch it ! If I tell you you wouldn't understand.
Hank Jr. , I got rights . 1979 Family Tradition I believe. And love those CJ 7s, got 2 of my own.
Hellcat engine not a Ls😂
Are you saying that is a hellcat engine or that I should have used a hellcat engine?
Whats the song title?? 🔥🔥🔥👌🏻
I did this, and it took quite a few times .. video helped tremendously.. I may have screwed up a bearing .. have you heard anything like some spots will drag ? 22 inch pounds testing it and I get a spot where it goes to 35.. any tips
Hey Dan, I saw you in Trail Recons video when you were doing Top Of The World trail in Utah with the leaf spring Jeep you built for your friend. 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🎉🎉
“You’re gonna understand that the cooling system does some kinda funny things” ; translation, this is a POS
I would ask why these things are such pieces of shit, but that leads to a more important question, why would anyone buy one? Is it the concept of an American flagship of Jeep? Any Jeep you surely buy today doesn’t meet any standards of the old Jeep. Why is there still a following? I’m about to tear apart one of my soldiers vehicles with the same POS motor cause his oil cooler failed. wtf would anyone buy one of these?
100% for the Music choice
Nice Transformer you have there..."Bare Bones". Local Dune Climber, Onion Creek Climber. LOL I do like it.
cool!
Can someone post how they are doing this? Do you have to drill a hole somewhere as some are saying or are you just threading this into the existing hole? AND….where are you finding this adapter ? TIA
Is there a way to check if a tire has beebees or real beads, or anything at all? Without taking a tire off the wheel. I was lied and stolen from, from the shop that put these tires and maybe beads in. No trust
why not trim the JL to put the turn signal back in?
Where can we get J PIPE? PLEASE! THANK YOU!
Link doesn't work
Good job.I just dragged a sweet 1983 chevy c20 tow beast home.Its got a full float 14 bolt,1 legger.Cant wait to regear,and add a locker.Really nice tech.
Awesome! I’m glad to hear it! Have fun with the rig! Those are super cool.
Would it be possible to only swap one axle at a time for the people who can’t afford 2 just yet?
So it’s possible as long as you run the same tire size and the same gear ratio on both axles. You would also have to run the same size tone ring on the axle as the factory so that you won’t have limp mode issues with abs and traction control. You’ll also be wider on the one tone axle with a different bolt pattern than the factory axle. So that becomes an issue with having a spare. So while it’s doable…it might be more convenient to just wait until it can all be done.
@@WarPaintOffroad ok appreciate the reply. I haven’t even bought my jeep yet (buying Tuesday hopefully) but an axle swap is the only mod I’m really thinking abt… and a lift ofc lol.
Not a good comparison at all.
I’m curious. How are two common trucks pulling the same load, over the same distance, in the same traffic and weather conditions, at the same speed not a good comparison?
Juat installed some j pipes on my 2019 f250. Got them from summit racing part "Vibrant Performance 19019" Look the same as the ones he has in the video. Hopefully they help
Update haven't had a code since i installed them
Good Work! Safety First! always engage low range on your Crocs when wrenching
That 1/2 inch at the shock is 2 inches at the wheel...
@@grootdiaz494 100%
What is a one ton swap? Are you putting the springs, shocks, and brakes on the jeep? That would be a one ton swap. Just putting a Dana 60 under a jeep is just that. Dana 60 came in 1/2 tons, 3/4 ton, and 1 ton in cars and trucks.
The Dana 60’s of today do not come in any cars or half ton vehicles. They do come in some 3/4 ton vehicles but they also come in 1 ton vehicles making them one ton vehicle axles. I didn’t invent the term. But the “one ton axle swap” is the industry term commonly used any time you are putting a set of axles in a vehicle that can in a one ton truck. Every aftermarket company that makes the swap kits, every Internet forum, every Facebook group, every gear manufacturer, and every mechanic and/or TH-camr that does it all refer to it as such. 👍
@WarPaintOffroad that is because they don't know any better. The tons of vehicles is determined by brakes and springs, not the axles.
This whole build is so beautiful except that screen on the dash🥲
Agreed. But to each their own!
Great video.
Thanks for watching!
OMG I'm reporting you cause your hurting cats, at least 3 and my cats fine😜 i have an X that needed to upgrade her cat, sometimes it did smell like garbage 💩
I went to beads after realizing my 35's were spinning on the rims when aired down. I bought the 10lb tub and put them in everything now. I am a fan. Have them in trailers, Jeep and SXS now! No more waiting at Discount Tire for hours for them to re balance five tires.
Cool man. Keep up the good work!!
@WarPaint question about the drain plug, good as it is, don't have to weld around that area correct? I know the bolt hole you need to weld, but the actual plug itself. Thank you sir
@@chuckieswickedgoodfab so I tighten it. Shave it. The. I weld the bottom where the plug was cut…and inside the diff on the other side of the plug. Then on the bottom I grind it flat… Some people also put a thin layer of RTV over the weld on the inside to just give it some cheap insurance…but after that…you are good to go. I hope that answered your question.
@@WarPaintOffroad absolutely did. Thank you that is absolutely what I was looking for. Thanks again for great videos. I go back all the time to reference these, really appreciate the time you put into them. Thanks again
I have the 3.8 and the 3.6 versions, and the 3.8 is a much better motor.
Not the car's fault if the driver doesn't know how to use it or assess the battery level. I drive a Tesla Model 3 myself here in Finland, where winters are harsh. I've owned a Tesla for several years, and it’s one of the best cars I've ever owned. I drive for work trips, so I cover about 2000 km (1243 miles) per month
Thanks for the video. I will give this a try.
That front Axel is not a dana 44 it is a corporate 10 BOLT.
Correction, the first O2 sensor read and informs AFM.
I just went to 4 row stainless radiator Mishimoto hoses Brand new TRQ water pump Brand new Mopar fluids Mishimoto low temp thermostat. Im completely done with the over heating Im currently changing out my heater hoses now i just walked outside opened the hood then said FML i got the HPS 5 piece kit (blue) for the heater hoses So everyone knows, the stock JK radiator is the size of a Prius radiator, when i pulled it out i almost threw up how tiny & pathetic it was. Its so thin some single row shiit. I immediately threw it to the ground & started kicking it
