#88 Loader Snow/Ice Removal: Trying Something New
Since I thought Winter was over I had made the Spring Switch. Loader on and snowblower packed away. Then came the snow and ice storm March 2024. We lost power for 18 hours and left us a mess to clean up. I've been wanting to try PVC on the front of the bucket to eliminate scraping of the asphalt. Here's how it all went.

#87 KUBOTA SNOW BLOWING 8 INCHES WET STICKY SNOW. JANUARY 29 2024
มุมมอง 2.5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is our first of the wet and sticky stuff for 2024. I find that this sometimes turns into a lot of pushing before blowing but seemed to do ok. Traction was a bit of a problem as it was wet before snowfall and the snow turned that wet pavement to an slippery mess.

It's that time of the year. Actually it's past that time to get the loader stored and the snowblower installed on the Kubota B2650HSDC. How I remove the deck on a Cub Cadet Z-Force SX. Cleaned out the spindles and greased for winter storage. Scraped the under side of the deck of the hardened grass material that the water hook up and pressure washer couldn't get to. Then re-installed the deck for storage. I am not a professional and this is for entertainment purposes only. I followed the user manual as I understood it.
#82 KUBOTA B2650: BLADE AND BUCKET FIRST PLOW OF SEASON 2023
มุมมอง 3295 หลายเดือนก่อน
FIRST TIME FOR ME USING THE LOADER AND BUCKET TO REMOVE SNOW WITH THE KUBOTA B2650. I USUALLY DON'T USE THE BUCKET BECAUSE IT MAKES SCRAPE MARKS ON MY PAVED DRIVEWAYS. FIRST, I DIDN'T HAVE THE BLOWER HOOKED UP YET AND 2ND, I DON'T THINK THIS SUPER SATURATED WET SNOW WAS GOING TO BLOW WELL ANYHOW. THERE WAS A PRETTY DECENT WET CONSISTENCY SO IT MADE THE BUCKET SLIDE EASY ON THE PAVEMENT. NO SCRA...

Latest Fall cleanup for me and I needed to rush. Pushed the system too hard and ended up with a couple of clogs from the damp leaves and thick piles. Round 2 of chipping for Fall Cleanup. I've heard from many viewers that my tractor isn't "big" enough or "powerful" enough for the Woodland Mills WC68. I put it to the test and the results did not surprise me. Plus, a new slogan perhaps for Woodland Mills. See if it catches on. Thanks for watching!

25 degrees on my ZTS1 46" is not an issue. It's a mountain goat.
They are beasts
Thanks for the video man. Super helpful.
Glad it helped
When the leaves build up in the front, all you have to do is back up
This pretty much sold me on the Cyclone Rake. Much better design than the Gravely, Scag and DR. Thanks What level Cyclone did you buy?
This is the cyclone take XL. www.cyclonerake.com/cyclone-rake-xl-leaf-and-lawn-vacuum/
Kentucky yards would destroy that machine
🤔
I have the same tires on my B2650, they have great traction in the snow and are easy on the turf too.
what did you end up paying for your B2650 with your cab and everything?
In 2019 I paid about 42k for everything. Snow blower with sub frame, 3rd function, bucket, grapple.
@@BeginnerforBSeries nice! Thanks for the reply! Do you have the backhoe for it?
@@bsnuff2002 no backhoe
AIR CONDITIONING. GOOD HEAT .
Depends on th application, cab is good in the winter if the heater works, not so nice in the summer if the A/C is broken.
Good point. Luckily both work on mine.
Cab!! Winter, spring, summer & fall. There’s a reason if only to help keep the dust & chemicals out of your lungs. You can put a 16 hour day in with a cab. It’s hard to do that without a cab.
So true
No cab! I use my tractor way more in the warmer weather months. The things I do with it involve getting on and off the tractor, quite a bit. A cab is a pain for this type of work. I don't use the tractor for snowblowing enough in the winter to make the irritation of a cab in the summer worth having.
Valid
And it’s not even an irritation when you think about. You plow for a little bit, then you sneak into your wood heated garage/outbuilding, get toasty, and hit again. After that, you saddle up on your Ski-Doo, and take a 40 mile ride to your favorite watering hole. Heck, when visiting the UP, we backpack 275 miles per day going from town to town…. I’ve never heard any complaints from fellow Sled Heads !!! Lol 😂
@@Joseph-wp2ry sounds like a good time for sure
@@BeginnerforBSeries I’ll tell you who the real macho men are - they’re the ones that backpacked 150 miles a day back in the eighties and nineties. There was Zero Track travel back in those days, and I’ll bet the grooming machines were undependable. We’re spoiled these days. Commencing around 2013 or so, the manufacturers were spittin out awesome machines that ride on rails. God - I’ve always liked the cold!!! When we travel to northern Ontario, even though temps dip to 40 below (that’s where Fahrenheit = Celsius), it’s a different type of cold. Very dry, but Not annoying.
Cab in winter - sun the rest of they year
AZ no cab meskins will fuck anything up
No cab! Be like the real men! 🤣🤣 shiiiit that looks rather chilly but yeah I didn't have a cab, worked 6 years for a farmer all the old timers had the cab tractors, I told em I rather have the old timer no cab tractors... they really just don't quit.
😅 my real man days are over. I'm probably old man status early. I love an open station tractor. If I could have both I would.
I love my cab . . . best decision ever!
Me too, Daniel.
Hey Dave, I wouldn't have put it back on either out of principal!! lol The one true downfall of the front blower is the dance between the blower and the fel. Always good to try new things and fun trial. If that doesn't make you appreciate either a blade or blower nothing will. Thanks for sharing Dave,
Thanks! I had to cave and put it back on for this Nor'Esster. I'm glad I did. Think we ended up with 18 inches of heavy wet and wind blown.
Nice 👍🏻 😂
Cab, no question
Nice rig!! I’m having trouble with wet sticky snow clogging the chute… tried Pam but still spending more time unclogging than actually snowplowing. Any ideas?
Unfortunately right now I'm thinking you're going to have to push through it. For future I use a product called More shine Tire shine. You have to put it on while it's dry and then the other suggestion is to make sure your blower is the same temp as the outside. I have to park my tractor outside while it warms up for about a half hour to eliminate the clogging. The warm metal from it being inside will make the snow stick. Not sure if you store yours inside or not.
If Pam doesn’t work out, try Sally??
😂
Yep same here and no power, about to go setup the generator 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️
Hey Dave I have the same tractor setup here in gilmanton. I have the same problem as you as I have changed over to summer mode. And now Mother Nature is doing it to us again lol. What a weird winter you just gotta laugh 😅 happy snow removal tmrw or Friday
Hi Dennis! We are neighbors! I caved and put the blower back on. Don't have the time bucket it out before work so ... Back to Winter mode. Stay safe my friend.
Probably could have figured it out on my own, but now I don't have to! Great video. Thanks!
Take it out of float when your trying to push those piles
Took a few times, Tony. Eventually figured it out. Thanks!
Nice work Dave!
Thanks Buddy
I'm debating if I should take my blower off, we are going to get some milder weather this week but that's the type of storm we usually get at this time of the year, we got a big one back on April 6th 2016 and I said to myself "take the blower off after April 6th" 😂. Have a great week Dave 🙋🏼♂
Thanks Luc. I'm boycotting the blower now. 😅
@@BeginnerforBSeries 😂
For some reason I didn't get a notification about this video. I was thinking about doing my switch over last weekend but I'm glad I held off.
Would have definitely preferred the blower but it was some good seat time.
PVC pipe is used for gravel driveways
Seems to work well on tar also. Nice work Dave
If your driveway is paved why are you using the PVC pipe??
I'm sure you are right, Joe. It does scrape up the pavement though and I've left some gouges too. Thought this might take care of that. 🤷
Dave! Thats bull! We got snow but it melted thankfully. But thats more than i want to see. I wouldn't be putting the blower back on my tractor out of spite!
😅 I didn't either. Just refuse to go backwards.
@@BeginnerforBSeries also, people drill 2 small holes in each end and attach a ratchet strap to the top of the bucket to hold it in place.
@@RossOnTheLand ahhh... Where were you 12 hours ago? 😆
@@BeginnerforBSeries bahaha! Sorry.
Good Day Sir, that is an OUTSTANDING Snow tractor therapy and nice try on your item !!! Be Well Cheers !!!
Thanks Dave it was all fun even if it failed.

@@RCAFpolarexpress very true😉
Here is a tip, push your PTO engagement lever slowly and watch your PTO shaft as you do, it will engage it very slowly etc, saving that shock to your system , try it!
Will do, Brian! Thanks!
That made me nervous and it wasn't even my equipment! I love my 0660 Grapple and it's held up without issue. Next time you might consider jack -hammering into more than one rock.
Yeah that was an overreach for sure. What you are saying is that I need to add a jack hammer to my wish list now? 😅
My steiner always pushing pile of snow in front of snow blower.
That happens to me too if the snow is wet and/or the pavement has a glaze on it underneath the snow. Frustrating 😡
Just picked up a used Z-Force to see if it works better than my ZT1 on our steep grade lake yard. It’s a 2016 with only 60 HRS on it, a little scuffed up but all in all in very good shape. Thanks for the look into the recommended service I’m looking forward to working on it once the weather warms up here in Michigan 😋
I think you will love it. Solid machine. Btw 55 degrees in NH today. Crazy
First of all too much talkin, also why would'nt you put the blower down as you come out of the garage 👎
If you listened to the talking you would know 👎🤦
Thank you for making this video! I've got their 8" chipper, and love it. But I was having the same issues you were with the control arm continually kicking back into neutral. That's been my only issue so far with it, otherwise it's been flawless. I didn't realize that there was a "fix" for it. I had seen other people having the same "issue" if you want to call it that on their TH-cam videos, and nobody addressed it, other than to mention that theirs kicked out of gear often as well. I thought that it was just something that I was going to have to live with. I put the chipper on my larger 73HP tractor, and then park my little BX next to the large tractor, with a wagon attached to it, then I just chip into the wagon that's attached to the BX, and then go dump the chips wherever I wanted to. I was considering bungee strapping the control arm to the BX so that it would stay in the infeed position, but that didn't seem like the safest idea to me. I'm SO glad that somebody (YOU) actually had enough common sense to contact Woodland Mills about this! I'm surprised that this issue, and it's "fix" isn't addressed in their owner's manual. I would hope that they'll update the owner's manual soon so that future buyers can easily fine a remedy for the problem. I've also got their stump grinder, and like it a lot. I don't know if you have a use for a stump grinder, but it you do, I highly recommend theirs. I just found your email address on your homepage, so I'm going to email the link to that guy's video to you there.
You're welcome, Jeff! I love the WM products and they make a solid chipper. Like you, I had watched a bunch of videos claiming to "fix" the issue but it wasn't working. One of the reasons I chose Woodland Mills is because people raved about their customer service. I reached out and they had a fix for me the same day. Great company indeed. I hope they add the "adjustment" to their manual as well as it seems to be a common issue coming straight from the factory. I would love to add a grinder at some point because I'm always trying to remove stumps and working with what I have but this would make it so much easier. Thanks for reaching out. I'll keep an eye out for your email. ~Dave
Mowing the lawn is a chore. Blowing snow is pure fun that you pretend is a chore.
You're not wrong 😅
Damn, that cab is nice.
The sole reason why I upgraded from an open station BX. Love it!
That wet snow was no match for that tractor. You did a great job cleaning your yard.
Thanks 👍. I sure has saved my back and made cleaning up a lot more enjoyable.
Nice work Dave, that was a lot of snow. Perfect combination for your driveway and always fun t o watch. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Bota! You still liking the pusher rear blower combo?
How's she goin'? Wet snow is hard to work with eh. But your blower did a good job and then the back blade is great for getting up close to buildings. Nice job and now you're ready for the next snow!! Take care!!
Hi Mike! I've reduced my shovel time dramatically by being able to pull up close and drag the snow away. Work smarter not harder, right? Have a good week.
Same here Dave, mine is stuck in editing. Haha. All the same wet and heavy or light and powdery it’s all good fun to run our tractors. Especially before work, always in a better mood afterwards.
Sure is Dave. Hard to pump out videos like I want to being a working stiff. I need one of those work from home jobs. Ironically the tractor does free me up so much time before work. If I was walking behind a blower it would take me 3 times as long, maybe more.
2 feet of powder on a weekend would be nice
You aren't kidding 🤦
You had an early recording session and some fun in the Kubota, well done Dave 👍🏻. I agree with you, Front Snowblower/Rear Blade best combo 👍🏻 Have a great rest of the week 🙋🏼♂👍🏻🙂☕
I sure did, Luc. Your video is on cue I think for the same storm system. Have a great week.
@@BeginnerforBSeries Actually it was the storm we got Jan. 12/13 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️
It never seems to be optimal, but that’s what builds character. Lol. Awesome video and thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mike.
Thanks, Mike. Things I never worried about until I was recording 😂
☕️ It’s been kind of a strange winter for us. We got lots of rain a week ago. Made for a huge slushy mess but the Kubota handled it. Cheers!
What would we ever do without them? Could never go back, that's for sure.
Good morning Dave. ☕️☕️
Morning! Have a good day, Gary!
Good morning...... your up early....
Usually 530. Good morning 🌞
Four curved light bars mounted on thebroof. Thank me later.
I'll look into that
The blower shouldn't be putting thebsnow where you can't see. More lights.
The video camera may not be picking up the lit area that well but those floods put out quite a bit. I had no problem seeing where the snow was going.
