Hey everyone!
I'm just a guy who loves helping others understand the technology that they own already, or are considering for purchase.
The overarching goal here is to provide the quickest and easiest tutorial and step-through videos possible.
To help those that need clear and concise instructions to get their audio, video, and network tools working right away.
I work as hard as possible to explain technically complicated workflows or concepts in the most basic terms I can so you don't have to spend days/months/years training to get your gear working NOW.
Part of this includes cutting out long-winded tangents that stray away from the true function of the video, or talking about side-quests into other capabilities.
I do my best to ONLY mention required steps to get you to the end result.
Thanks in advance for watching, and I hope to help make your journey through tech, Quick & EZ!

PLEASE NOTE: That my schematic has an error in reference to the INSERT METHOD. I'm actually showing the insert happening BEFORE the gate, when in actuality it occurs AFTER the gate. Thanks to @xaviermauri1540 for pointing out my diagraming error.
Thanks Boss!!
You're very welcome!
If I read the title, I thought it would be without a computer... thats what I'm searching for 😉
Hi schmitterling, in my experience, this isn't possible. If you want to control your XR with an Xtouch, without a computer/tablet/software running in between, then you need to use actual midi cables which also means you can only use the Universal or Compact units. The others don't have a true midi connection. Using this method, I have only been able to connect a single unit that functions. If anyone has had a different experience, hopefully they can comment here. If you are only looking for one xtouch to control your xr mixer, then you can totally do that with midi cables. Here's a video on it. th-cam.com/video/090obbpgTS4/w-d-xo.html
I'm having tons of trouble trying to get X touch compact to work with pro tools, do you have any recommendations for this?
What issue are you having?
How are you man ,i really appreate your videos, i need help, how do i set crossover on ui16 mixer, thanks for your help
Hi maranatha, this mixer does not have a crossover in it. Do you have a crossover of your own? If so, please follow the instructions for your specific crossover. If you don't have one, and you want to use an EQ on your main outs and your aux-fed sub outputs to simulate a crossover; - find out what the ideal crossover point is on your speakers and your subs, - on the sub output use a low-pass filter to simulate the sub crossover point, - on your main speaker outputs, use a high-pass filter to simulate the crossover point of those speakers. to set the eq on your sub output; - select the aux send tab - select your aux - highlight the aux master and click on EDIT - select the EQ tab and set your low-pass filter to set the eq on your main outputs; - select your master output fader and click edit - select the EQ tab and set your high-pass filter
how about ui16 does it also have a new updated firmaware
Hi maranatha, the last firmware update for this version of mixer was in January of 2018 and is V 1.0.7548 If that's what you're running then you are up-to-date. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
man just doxxed himself
Not even a little bit. Thats an internal IP address specific to my home network. In no way does that give you my ISP (external) network address. And even if it did, those are dynamic addresses, not static, and this video is over a year old and my ISP address would have changed dozens of times since then. Nice try though...
Excellent! Thank you for taking the time to explain the use of effects. The diagrams are VERY helpful!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
Hi @QuickEZ thank you for your extremely clear tutorial. I am wondering about one thing. One of the greatest features of our X-Touch surfaces is the motor control. You didn't showcase it in the video, but if I were to connect the MIDI out to the X-Touch as well, would it provide the motor feedback I seek?
Hi Daan, no matter what connection method you use (MIDI, Ethernet, USB-Midi) the faders are motorized and will behave as such as long as you have both an in and out connection set up. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
@QuickEZ Wait, are you saying that I could connect the X-Touch to Mixingstation over Ethernet as well?
Hey Daan, Yep. You can absolutely do that. Check this video out, It’s for more than one xtouch but it gives you the steps to make the connection. Multiple X-Touch with XR Mixers - Using Mixing Station and RTP Midi th-cam.com/video/WWYEf7B63TQ/w-d-xo.html There is also a Mac specific version on my channel if you need that instead.
@@QuickEZ OMG! Thank you for putting me onto this! This opens so many possibilities with my hardware! I am very grateful.
This is great. I got close, I don’t know what I’m missing. Signal is coming. I have the ui set in Logic as Input/Output somehow no sound. Outside Logic the UI works
Hi Digitors, When you're sending signal OUT of Logic and back to your UI, you have to assign Logics output channels to some input channels on the Mixer and play them out of the main Left Right output. So for instance; - lets say you chose Logic outputs 1 & 2. - You need to pick two channel strips on the mixer and assign their input to be USB-DAW 1 and USB-DAW 2. - Then you bring up those two faders and send them out of your main Left and Right speakers on the mixer. Bing, Bang, Boom, you've got sound. I hope this was helpful. If you're still stuck, drop some more details in the comments and I'll see if I can help. Thanks for watching!
@@QuickEZ I’ll check again. I watched your vid again. It’s assigning LP’s output. I got one hardware synth working on 11-12, I’ll check the rest later today. Much appreciated! Will keep you posted
My question is: If you are recording an entire band, let's say a 6 piece band...of everyone needs separate monitor mixes out of the XR18, is there any tab clicking or routing that has to be done. Here's an example scenario, my guitar player is in a separate booth: can he have his own mix on Aux 1/Bus 1 that he cam control in the same way he would control it separately at a live gig? Without using P16s and UltraNet. Can all of the output busses be separate mixes? Is there any tab clicking, setting changes to make this happen. WONDERFUL video by the way. I am so thankful that you made this. :)
Hi Phillip, Glad you found this video helpful !! Yes, you can assign each person their own mix using your 6 Aux outputs. And each person can control their own mix, directly from the XR by using something like MX-Q or Mixing Station. No p16's or ultranet required. Yes, all the outputs can have a separate mix of the instruments and FX. Keep in mind that you have limited ability to change EQ's for instrumentation...meaning. however you EQ the instruments on the input is what the EQ will be going to each mix. You can make some minor adjustments on the Aux bus itself for the most part, you cannot have a completely independent EQ for each instrument on each musicians mix. Check out this video for more info on eq'ing your Auxes/Busses th-cam.com/video/D31mFcCTqjw/w-d-xo.html You don't need to do any specific routing unless you've changed anything in the I/O setup already, in which case you'd have to put things back to default. What you would need to do is send levels of the instruments each person wants, to their respective mix. I hope that was clear and makes sense. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
Thanks a lot, friend. You’ve helped me troubleshooting with this thing.
Glad to help. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
Thank you for this video! But what about the ipad battery?
Hi, You would need a usb hub that has a charge port in and an additional USB port for connecting to the xtouch. Not all hubs will work. I have many that DO NOT work like this one: www.novoo-online.com/en-ca/collections/usb-c-hub/products/novoo-8-in-1-r8c-pro-usb-c-hub And I have one that DOES work in this setup. It's from a Canadian retailer but you should be able to find a similar one wherever you are located: www.canadacomputers.com/en/laptop-docking-stations/201334/ican-3-in-1-type-c-to-hdmi-pd-and-usb-hub-tc056.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA0fu5BhDQARIsAMXUBOIJLSVeohFGJObBGXYSaRUXZ1_Jj6kGlV9Gdl-aUBGrJg5M8TzU5tsaAl00EALw_wcB
Such a concise presentation…I am new to xr Air 18 use and was wandering if you have a tutorial on how to set up my air 18 with my external router Netgear door band… Also connecting to a laptop and using my iPad as my walk around the venue, mixer… The Behringer guy kind of shows it, but never explains in detail how to get it activated and all synced… His explanation was to use a router for bigger venues and that the XR 18’s local Wil degenerate the more people come in with Cell Phone to a venue… Do you have such a video that can go step-by-step?
Thank Roy. I don't have this video topic available, much to my chagrin. It is an incredibly popular topic and has been on my to do list for ages. If you are in a rush to get this going, drop me a line at: email@quickez.ca and I can ty to answer some direct questions, and potentially point you in the right direction on a few items. Thanks for watching!
So your already kinda familiar with my set up & IEM's Cover band i use the P16-M For the original band, i use the mix bus from my X32 For Reaper, i can still use the IEM the same way as my X32? & can i use that as im recording my rehearsals 😊 Great vid as usual
Hi Ken, For your setup, I would just continue running the way you already are. Your guys have control of their mixes straight off of the physical inputs with the P16's and this is going to be far better for you in the long run than using Reaper to build your IEM mixes. If it ain't broke, don't fix it ! :) Thanks for watching!
@QuickEZ it was just a question on if that would work or not Im not going to change my set up, but was curious if thats how Reapers monitor mix works, the P16's are fantastic units, but for my original band, im using the mix bus from my X32, is your suggestion to keep that same set as well, but again, i was just curious if thats how that works
Hey Ken, You could absolutely create mixes for your original band using this Reaper method, BUT... The way that the Reaper mixes work is that you need to bring all the sonic information INTO Reaper and create individual mixes in that software, then send them back out of reaper to your console and distribute them to each persons IEM's. This way of doing it will have potentially more latency than the way you are doing it now, which is to make mixes and distribute them directly from the consoles physical inputs. The Reaper way has the following steps: 1. Instrument Signal 2. Console input 3. Console USB output 4. Reaper USB input 5. CREATE REAPER MIX 6. Reaper USB output 7. console USB input 8. DISTRIBUTE TO CONSOLE OUTPUT / IEM TRANSMITTER The way you are currently doing it is: 1. Instrument Signal 2. Console input 3. CREATE MIXES IN CONSOLE 4. DISTRIBUTE TO CONSOLE OUTPUT / IEM TRANSMITTER You can see the additional steps required using the Reaper method and the X32 lets you assign and control your mixes much more quickly. If you get your band-mates onto the MX-Q app, they can control their x32 mixes directly on their phones / tablets. Hope that answers your question more definitively.
@@QuickEZ it answers my question So what & who would most benefit from this system
There are lots of determining factors here but my quick answer is studio users. Those who are recording to their computer but have (or can't afford) hardware that will support remote monitor control. I suppose the other side of it is preference. Some users like to keep everything in one ecosystem. This could be beneficial to people like that as well.
Thanks - I needed that explanation.
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
Hello is this also possible with a windows computer? greats Barie
Hi Barie, Yes you can do that. Mixing station works the same across platforms so the steps are basically the same.
if i link channels (not buses) 1 and 2 in the main L/R, am I able to pan that whole stereo channel (1&2) to the left or to the right?
Hi George. You sure can!
@QuickEZ thanks so much for the quick reply. Would you mind providing some instructions on how to do that? I've been banging my head on the wall for months now
Hi George, I'll assume you have the XAir Edit software, or at least have access to it. These instructions are using that software. 1. click on your first linked channel (link it if not already done) 2. click on the "CHANNEL" tab at the top 3. under the "MAIN OUT" section on the right side of the channel window, there is a Panorama slider directly below LR Main Stereo and directly above "AUTO MIX". Click and drag that to your desired side. 4. repeat the above for your second linked channel Hope that helps. Thanks for watching the video(s) and happy mixing!
@@QuickEZ oh ok. I thought I was not supposed to touch the hard panning that happens once the channels are linked and there was a way to pan them as one "stereo" channel. I will give this a try then. Thank you again so much, subbed 👍👍👍
Happy to help, welcome to the Sub-team, glad to have you!
Thank you so much for this. I had no idea this was a thing until your video. I was planning to buy a cheap laptop to remote desktop into my audio production PC for those moments when I have to be my own engineer. This will be way cheaper than that. It will also be way less annoying than having to insert a large gap of silence, press record, and then go get into position when recording vocals.
Happy it was useful to you. FYI, the second part of this...being able to create and remote control individual monitor mixes for all your musicians...is going up on Friday afternoon. It's largely the same video as this one but I specifically show you how to create the monitor mixes in Reaper and then access them (through the same webserver setup as this video) on your other devices. Reaper is really upping their game. Thanks for watching and happy (remote) mixing!
Evaluation licence 😔
yep, evaluation license. Can't afford the full license until January, not much I can do about that. And I only JUST decided to switch over to Reaper from Pro Tools as my full-time DAW with this newest release. So I'm actually still within the actual evaluation period.
@@QuickEZ a lot of people do that, so make sure you like reaper and get used to it before you spend money on it. Good luck.
Thanks, I’ve already decided it’s a good fit. My only stumbling block will be relearning keyboard shortcuts. 19 years of Pro Tools quick keys is so imprinted on my brain it’s like breathing at this point.
Cant wait to see the more me tutorial Great vid James 😊
Compiling it today. Should be up Friday.
dude! thanks for that video! Again, big help - i am using ableton live 11 and i cant wrap my head aroung following: i have my headset plugged in on physicall headset out on ui24r i want to hear on this headset only what is going on in the daw & on my laptop in general however i (probably falsly) patch it, when i try to record my mic only, i end up recording not only the mic, but also whatever i hear in my headphones from my daw and laptop. after this video i thought its because i had set up the wrong input channel for the mic (using 1/2 as i assumed this were channel 1 and 2 of the soundcraft, but in truth its main), but even though the main feeder is down, it keeps catching it all. did i do a patching mistake ? probably! so i really hope you are going to make a full video on patching, and onto a home studio setup on how to listen to your computer/laptop+daw but not to record all what you hear, but only the respective channel. thanks a lot! greetings
Hi Joy, I've had this on my plan for videos for a while but unfortunately, I haven't had time to get into it yet. I will get it to it soon. You're not the only one out there having the same issues so it seems like a good time to get it done. In the meantime, watch my video a couple of times if you need to, and don't be afraid to try things and see what results you get. If you have any specific question, you can always post them here and when I can, I'll do my best to answer. Thanks for watching, and happy mixing!
@@QuickEZ looking forward! the community of halfasleep producers is counting on you :D maybe you can wake us up finally from the nightmare of patching errors. ;-)
lol. I'll see if I can find some smelling salts! stand by...
thanks. i bought the soundcraft and have no idea what i am doing. i even loaded the manual into chatgpt and asked gpt questions, but this was much clearer here :) thanks!
Glad I could help!
@@Travelin_Joy just ordered mine. Waiting for it to arrive. How do you like overall sound and eq quality? What are you coming from originally?
@@musikman337 i mean, it needs time to get warm with it and i am still in the process. but so far, what i managed to get through sounded well! the eq and overall sound is nice, however i prefer to work with the effects of the daw or pedals. but this might be based on the fact that i dont know how to set it up properly... have fun with that device and enjoy every step of getting to know it. i believe once understood it will make it so fun to use it
Hello sir, is it work on IOS 17 with no issue ?
Hi Touch, I've been running on 17 for quite a while now with no issues.
Gonna try these tips soon, hopefully it’s gonna work fluently, thanks for the tips Sir. 1 Subscriber earned
The hardest part would be EQing the instrument for the auxes, differently from the FOH. Perhaps you could give me/us a real example of that on Stage. Thanks in advance Sir👍
Hi Holy, typically when you're adding or adjusting EQ on your Aux / Buss / Monitor, it's because you are attempting to create an overall sound with all your instruments for the person listening to that monitor mix. Additionally, the common practice for this is to curb or eliminate feedback in that mix, commonly for stage wedges. In general, people aren't creating completely independent EQ's for each instrument in each mix. Especially if you're a single operator doing both front of house and monitors from one position, one console, etc etc. Obviously it can be done, I've just given you a coupe of examples on how to do that. But the thing to keep in mind is that if you're constantly running multiple mixes on your own, it now takes much longer to arrive at your desired mix on each output. This isn't' uncommon, again if you're a single operator you are going to be jumping from FOH mix to Monitor mixes as the show goes on and as musicians ask you for changes. But the difference there is that you are usually adjusting overall mix levels or overall EQ's in the monitors and not necessarily independent instrument EQ's. And this is a little more manageable than trying to deal with multiple instrument EQ's for different destinations. As a quick example; lets just say you do have a small show, maybe just a singer who also plays guitar, maybe you've got two stage wedges for them. In one wedge, you put their guitar. In the other you put their vocals. Because you have a small show to manage, you could feasibly create a completely different EQ for the guitar and the vocal in the two wedges that don't match the FOH mix. Maybe the performer only wants to hear the mids from their guitar, and the high's from their voice (this is just for arguments sake). Obviously this wouldn't make for a great mix out to the house system so you could do that with separate instrument EQ's on separate input channels and still leave yourself lots of room to deal with feedback on the wedges by using an EQ on the bus. I hope this makes some sense. If you have any specific questions, feel free to drop them here and I'll do my best to answer as soon as I can. Thanks for watching, and happy mixing!
In the Insert method, the effect should be inserted after the gate..not after input gain
Hi Xavier, apologies off the top if I`m not understanding your comment correctly. But, the first thing I`ll say is that there is no right or wrong time to insert an effect, it absolutely depends on what you're trying to accomplish with your finished product. And if your effect alters the noise floor of your original signal, and the noise floor is what you are attempting to control, then absolutely you would want the effect to be PRE-gate! But even more important than that statement (which is substantially my own opinion), With this mixer you do NOT have the option on where to insert your channel FX. It goes in one place, and you can't change it, so even if you disagree with the signal tap point for insertion...there is no option to insert it otherwise. If you meant something else, please feel free to elaborate, but anyone reading this should be aware that you cannot choose the insert location on a channel. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
@@QuickEZ yes I know, that with the xair you can't choose the insertion point of the insert, I was referring to your graph where you represented the insert in pre gate, when in reality the insert in the XAIR is post gate..that's all
Totally awesome and concise….Great delivery without repetitive dialogue. Look forward to more tutorials on the XR air18.
Much appreciated Roy. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
Great video, very insightful. Good camera views also. Good job 👍
Thank you. And thanks for watching. Happy mixing!
My question can we do a different EQ example on slice 1 a 7.2 DB EQ to sends 1 and still on the same slice 1 put a completely different EQ example sends 4 -15DB thank you Didier Night Fever Salut James encore une super vidéo bravo j'ai une question , je voudrais acheter la soundcraft ui24r mais une question sur les aux sends. Ma question peut-on faire Un EQ différent exemple sur la tranche 1 un EQ 7,2 DB aux sends 1 et toujours sur la même tranche 1 mettre un EQ complètement différent exemple sends 4 -15DB merci Didier Night Fever
Hi NightFever, if you're asking can you do a different EQ on each Aux send, then the answer is yes. Just like the input channels, each Aux Send has it's own EQ, Gate, and Compressor that can be adjusted independently from every other send. The same applies to the Master Left/Right output, that also has it's own EQ and Compressor. If I've misunderstood your question, or you were asking about something else, please let me know.
i love you bro
happy to help. It's crazy how many people have this issue. Enjoy your functional headset !! :)
Hi, I’m using an iPad. My screen looks different. Are the functions similar?
I have Ipad instructions in this video starting around the 16 minute mark. Are you saying your iPad screen looks different that what I have later in the video? If so, what app are you using?
Thank you
You're welcome
doesn't work
Wait. But what if you want to record to DAW but after the gate/comp/eq applied in the mixer, to be able to control the incoming signal better? You cannot do that? That's unfortunate.
Yeah. Sadly you can’t do that on each channel. It is a shame but most interfaces like this are the same. If you want the fx and dynamics and filters, you need to use either the main L/R or Aux sends. It’s definitely a pain in the butt!
@@QuickEZ Thank you so much for your answer. If I send channels to Aux buses internally. Would that incur in extra latency. Probably not because is internal. Right?
@@QuickEZ Also. Do you happen to know if the Behringer XR18 / MIDAS MR18 allows to record with strip FX easily without Aux routings or such things? Thank you.
using the Aux bus shouldn't incur much if any additional latency. However, any processing you put the signal through can and will introduce latency. meaning, if you process your signal through EQ, compression, FX...each one of those steps can introduce latency. It may or may not be too much for you to deal with. Every person experiences latency different and some people are far most sensitive to it.
The XR18 / MR 18 have the ability to select the tap point for the USB sends. Meaning you can send your signal to the computer with your EQ, Comp etc included. What you won't be able to do is send your FX on the same channel unless it's an inserted effect. You can however send your FX returns to your DAW on different channels so that you can mix them into your final DAW product. You just have to give up a some USB channels to do that.
You are a life saver!
Happy to help!
thanks mate
You're welcome!
Hey, man! I want to thank you. I've searched for an answer A LOT on youtube, google, the actual physical manual. No one/nothing has explained so correctly like u did. I'm from Brazil and before I ran into your video I saw plenty of brazilian's videos and even spanish and italian. Yours was the only one who really helped solving the problem. I'm saving this video 'cause I'm gonna have to watch many times to actually get it. Thanks a lot, man! Wish u all the success. U deserve it!
So happy I could help. Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching. Happy mixing!
Hey, so heres the problem, I really hope you can help since i asked this question 100s! of times and nobody has an answer. When I have 2 extenders and a Base unit all connected over RTP i get laggy performance. Sometimes Faders hang, mute buttons are lit when they are not supposed to etc. Have you heard about that problem? Is there maybe a fix for it?
Honestly this sounds like a resource issue. Most likely RAM. But potentially processing as well. Pro tools in its own is a pretty big resource hog. Do you have the same results when you use only 1 or 2 surfaces? You should open up resource monitor and see what’s eating the most ram or CPU, when you have a session running. Close whatever you can (especially chrome if you have it running) and if possible, don’t just close the window/program, actually close the process that’s running in the background. Ctrl+alt+delete and kill chrome or anything else that isn’t required to keep your system running. If this doesn’t improve your stability, a ram upgrade may help. These are suggestions. I can’t guarantee it will solve your issue since there could be many factors involved. But it’s certainly a troubleshooting step you should take to see what’s happening in your system. If you can’t pinpoint anything using the steps above, try downloading reaper (it’s free) and setting it up with your 3 surfaces and see if you get the same results. I’m not suggesting you switch DAW’s but it could help to see if pro tools is just demolishing your resources leaving you high and dry for 3 xtouch.
@@QuickEZ I really doubt it, my system is fast enough. It happens on an empty session with just enought empty audio tracks to test. Its exactly the same with reaper too! It seems like midi going to the daw is fine, only the midi thats coming back from the computer seems to have errors with it. Thats such astrange error, there is litteraly no thread or forum endtry for it at all. Like I would be the first one to have that problem! PT is important for work, so I sadly cant just switch.
Very nice video. Quick question, can I do all this stuffs in UI12? I mean can I use UI12 as Audio Interface and do multitrack recording in Logic Pro?
I EdenMusic, Unfortunately, only the UI24 can be used as an interface to multitrack with Logic. I know that wasn't the answer you were hoping for. Sorry! But thanks for watching and happy mixing!
How do i pan using ios?
Hi Phillip, If you want to pan inside your bus on iOS, select your desired channel, and then select the SENDS tab at the top. you'll see a panner right above any Busses that are linked as stereo. grab that panner and move it right or left and now you are panning your signal on the stereo bus without affecting the panning in your main L/R. Hope that helps, happy mixing!
Hi ,been watching your great videos. Just having trouble panning my Aux sends seperate from mains . I'm using a click and backing tracks and need to pan my click left and track right. I'm using iPad and xair 12. Your help would be greatly appreciated
Hi Phillip, just answered this question for you, posted on the other video about this topic. But I'll post the same answer here just to make it easy and help anyone else with the same question. If you want to pan inside your bus on iOS, select your desired channel, and then select the SENDS tab at the top. you'll see a panner right above any Busses that are linked as stereo. grab that panner and move it right or left and now you are panning your signal on the stereo bus without affecting the panning in your main L/R. That's cool, I'll use this idea but... I wouldn't use the internal wifi of mixer in a live situation. In my rig I have an external wifi router on mr18 and could put a repeater on the xtouch. Great idea! Thanks for the vid! .... I was just thinking of running a cat5 till I saw this
Hi greenheadband, Thanks for watching. Glad I could be some sort of inspiration. In the full version of this video, I do actually talk about NOT using the internal wifi live. I always try to mention this in full videos regarding these types of mixers. Let me know how this works out for you if you implement it. Happy mixing!
I’ve made sure iTunes and iPhone are updated every single time I’ve done this and I’ve been trying to do this for over 10 years with four different iPhones. It NEVER works. It always disconnects. So I have to move small amounts of pics at a time.
Thanks for your video. I have noticed my main L and R is affected by any fader changes in the bus tab on xr12 using edit in PC. I did change sends to pre fader and AUX out in the IN OUT tab to pre fader also but still volume on main L R increases or decreases when using BUS 1 fader through sends in fader or when main mix is on and using fader in the top sends tab.
Hi Lyndon, Is your bus being sent to the mains? Select bus 1 Select the bus 1 fader Select the MAIN tab Is the MAIN STEREO button selected?
Awesome, thank you for your reply and yes, Bus 1 was going to mains and have followed what you said to do and it fixed it. However i have also noticed the Bus 1 master out fader is not adjusting the overall volume coming out from Aux 1? In the Aux out section when it the In/Out tab, i have selected Bus 1 to go out Aux 1 - Pre Fader + Mute but no matter what i select the main Bus 1 fader doesnt have any effect.
Hy Lyndon, By selecting pre-fader+ mute in the aux output you’ve disabled the bus 1 fader. Change that back to post fader. If you want signal from your inputs to go to your bus pre-fader, that is done on the input side of things. For instance; Select channel 1 Select the sends tab Select pre-fader for the bus you want (in this case bus 1) If you have the globe icon selected at the top right of the sends page, it will make that change for all channels going to the bus. If you deselect it, then only a single input will be changed. Hope that helps
Thanks for that. After I sent the message I did some thinking and thought that may have been the case but had already packed everything away. Thank you so much for your help!
Happy to help. Happy mixing!
Hi! Which ipad model are you using?
Hi buelstv, The one in this video is: iPad 9th gen iOS 17.6.1
I want to use a cat6 cable to connect xtouch and from xtouch use USB MIDI to add xtouch extender, is that possible? I really hope and look forward to a detailed guide on connecting the hardware♥️♥️
Hi acay, This wouldn’t work the way you’re suggesting. If you’re using rtpmidi it will only create a device instance for the xtouch. It will not create an instance for the extender. However, you can connect the xtouch via network and then connect the extender directly to your computer via usb for a second connection.
We have been using the XR18 for 10y... The built in Wifi router was NEVER any good. Even from the start, it was bad. So we have bought an external router, and we connect thhe XR18 to it. Never had a connection issue since. However, now we have another problem. With latest IOS18, our ipad does not want to connect anymore to the mixxxer... This is really frustrating! We use the xairmonitor app for on stage in ear monitor mixing, and that app was great because we are 5 band members each with our own in ears mix. The Xairmonitormix app let us change our onstage mixes without being able to mess op the mixer settings. Now that app is not working anymore, which means we need to use the mixing station app, but that lets us change mixxxer settings which we don't want on stage.
Hi Mobi, You can lock yourselves to your own bus in mixing station as well. When you load the app in your device, hold the icon for your mixer. That will open a new window and under MIX PERMISSIONS select your monitor bus. Once you’ve done that, you won’t be able to change anything but your own mix.
@@QuickEZ Wow realy? I was not aware of this.... I will test this out. Thanks!
So half of our band uses iphone/ipad. The other half has android phone. I have no experience with Android. Would you know any good app on android who could be used only for bus/aux adjustments? I don't want them to be able to do anything else than asjusting their monitor mixes (we all use in ears)
Hi Mobi, you can use mixing station on android as well. Same instructions would apply.
@@QuickEZ Ok great and thanks for the quick reply! Cheers
I've got the setup you describe here and it's worked great in the past. Now, however, when I set up the xtouch extender using the device setup, the input and output both say Network and not X-touch and I can't figure out how to make the X-touch a choice on the pull down. Any ideas?
Hi mob, Are you using Ana adapter on your USB cable by chance? for instance, your cable is a USB-b to USB-lightning and then you’re using a lightning to USB-c adapter, or something similar? I have found that the adapters tend to stop the functionality of the cable and it’s best to use a direct cable with the correct ends.
Sorry for the typos...tried to edit them but got an error message.
Hi. Was there another supposed to be another message? I only see this one about typos.
@@QuickEZ The reason Gain Structure (Staging) is so important is that you can overload at any point or the opposite, underutilize input channel gain which amplifies the inherent noise in all curcuits. My approach to sound check is: Set Master Fader, SubGroups (if the mixer has those), and Aux Send masters to Unity. Ensure all input Gain is set to it's lowest and bring up each input channels fader until you get the desired level or reach Unity gain (sometimes marked with a "U" or maybe the infinity symbol). Stop there and if you need more bring up the gain. I try to never touch the gain again as it will change everything to include Aux, Fader, SubGroups, Master Fader and in the case of digi boards the processing. Comps, Gates are especially affected. I think you're doing a great job helping people to understand and you're also very positive in your delivery. I just wanted to add some constructive suggestions.
Humm...this was my second post even though the first looked like it uploaded. So my first response isn't shown. I give up.
