I followed all the necessary settings on my iPad, pro mixer ( the patching and slots settings, ) as well as on my Mac using Audio MIDI Setup and Logic Audio. I can say Soundcraft has now taken control of everything lol. However, since I made these changes, I can no longer hear your voice and had to click on CC to read what you were saying. I even closed and reopened TH-cam, but the issue persisted. My microphone, is connected to channel 6 on my Ui24R = channel 16 on Logic. Speaking into the microphone, I can see the signal coming in on the level meters on both Logic mixer and my iPad mixer. I can hear what Im saying through my QSC speakers which are connected to my Ui24R Master Outputs. but I am not able to hear anything I recorded or your voice on YT. I even plugged in ( Phones mix VOL up ) my Sony Studio headphones to my mixer, and nothing. I'm wondering what I may be doing wrong here. Any idea? Thanks in advance
Hey Chris, You caught me right before going offline for the night. Here’s the quick fix… System settings> Sound> Click the output tab and choose whatever you normally use for audio output. Hi cxlin, Anything you set in your DAW would be part of the recording. But anything you set in the mixer itself does NOT go to your recording. The inputs on the mixer take the gain settings and then leave the mixer on USB immediately after that they bypass eq, compression , gate, fx. Here is a video talking all about how the USB sends work. Thank you Gman! That's a tough question. I think I have to go with the Soundcraft. I like them both a lot, but the UI24 has the options that I really need. Specifically the ability to connect two units for cascading. If the XR series could do this, it would a powerhouse series of mixers that I would probably pick above the Soundcraft. In terms of sound quality and usability, I find them fairly equal so it really does come down to features for me. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!

The XR18 is an overall great unit. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. And they are on sale right now. The difficulty is finding them in stock.

I have in my studio Adam's Axx series speakers (very good speakers) Today I have a Quantum 2626 audio interface that has only 8 outputs ; so I use the output of the Mac and the output of my OWC Thunderbolt 3 to have my 12 outputs. My problem is : shall I buy a interface with only 4 outputs or look at the future to be in 9.1.4 (14 outputs) and buy the Soundcraft UI 24 You can agregate your audio interfaces on Mac

Sorry, I tend to treat each reply as though I'm speaking to beginners and novices, since that is the majority of the folks that seem to watch my videos. Certainly, the UI24 is a good consideration if you can exist with some limitations The mixer itself has: - 8 XLR aux outputs, - 2, 1/4" headphone outputs (each stereo can be split into two mono) - Main L/R XLR outs - Main L/R 1/4" outs Yes, this is a total of 14 outputs, but the Main L/R 1/4" outputs cannot be routed independently from the Main L/R XLR outs. so you're actually limited to 12 And, though you can split the L/R of each headphone output, you don't have enough busses to accommodate 14 independent signals. You have 8 physical aux outs but 10 aux sends in the software, 9 and 10 can be applied either to the Main L/R outputs, or the Headphone outputs so that gives you some idea of the limitations of this box, it gets you close, and if you aggregate, then you should be able to easily reach your desired 14 outputs. I hope that adds some clarity, and I'll b really interested to how things work for you if you decide to pick up the Soundcraft.

My main purpose is to use it in the studio to record drums with multiple inputs. How can I be able to hear the click track from Logic and the backing track through headphones from the mixer? Will this have some negative effect in my recording in terms of latency in relation to the click?
Hi Santiago, when you setup the interface with Logic, you have to dedicate one of the mixer channel strips to be your click-track coming out of Logic, and then the backing tracks on another channel or set of channels. For instance: - set the click to go out of Logic via output 1, and set the first channel strip in the mixer to receive signal on USB-DAW 1. - set the backing tracks to Logic Outputs 2 & 3 (or choose more channels if you want them to be individually controlled), and set the next two channel strips on the mixer to receive signal on USB-DAW 2 and USB-DAW 3. That would make the click and backing tracks available to anyone using headphones with the Soundcraft. There is inherent latency whenever you are sending signal via USB but it should be small enough that it doesn't cause an issue. Especially because the signal is only making a one-way trip (LOGIC > MIXER > HEADPHONES) it should be very manageable. If it was making a two-way trip (MIXER > LOGIC > MIXER >HEADPHONES) that might problematic since there would be latency in both directions. And keep in mind, that latency would exist regardless of the Mixer you used in this same way. Lowering your buffer settings can help with latency as well. Something else to think about, even with the latency happening in my example above, the drummer would hear everything on the mixer side of things, "in time" and they would be playing along "in time". You can think of it like this: click track > USB LATENCY > MIXER INPUTS > HEADPHONE OUTPUTS Backing tracks > USB LATENCY > MIXER INPUTS > HEADPHONE OUTPUTS DRUM MICROPHONES > MIXER INPUTS > HEADHPONE OUTPUTS Because everything hits the mixer inputs at the same time, regardless of where they started, everything should appear to be perfectly synced. The drum signals going back into Logic might be a few samples out of alignment, but you shouldn't hear that during recording, only during playback. And at that point you could easily line them up after the fact in Logic. I hope that makes sense. Also, I want to point out that many people do report issues with heat using the UI24, especially if they are in a warm environment and have the unit mounted in a rack. I have one of my two units in a rack, running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and I have never once had issues due to heat. Those that do experience the heat issue, install a small computer fan which is very easy to do, and there are many tutorials on youtube about it. I just wanted to mention that in the interest of being up front and transparent. I love my UI24's, and I've had zero issues with either unit, but that doesn't mean other people feel the same. Just to keep it simple can I patch the stereo out of logic (which I think includes the internal metronome) to a stereo channel ? and just use the mixer as I would do with for example... a Focusrite solo, but instead of having having only 2inputs, having 20 instead. You’re very welcome. And Yes, you can absolutely send the stereo out of logic to a stereo pair of channels on the UI24. Just choose the channel strips you want to use on the mixer, set the inputs to the correct usb daw returns and then link the channel strips so they act like a stereo pair.
If you want to interface it with your computer… Then you need to plug it into the USB I/F port. The large SQUARE white one underneath the “rec” usb port
Hi Marcus, I'm sorry you're having issues. If you followed the tutorial step-by-step you should be good to go. That being said, Please check that your bit-depth and sample rate in your Logic session are matching with your mixer settings. Also, I've encountered a few people who had to do the following: Open your system settings on your Mac click on PRIVACY & SECURITY click on MICROHPONE make sure that Logic has been granted access to use your microphone. The UI24 becomes a "microphone" when connected to your system so if Logic doesn't have access, it could potentially stop you from getting signal. Let me know if this solved your issue. If it doesn't, please try another USB cable. This is often the problem. There is no guarantee this is your problem but it is a common one. If you can try another available cable before buying a new one, I recommend that before spending money.

If you're just trying to have a mix play out of Logic into your mixer to play to FOH along with live instrumentation, do the following: 1. Choose the output channels in LOGIC 2. Choose which two channel strips you'd like to use for LOGIC return on the UI, in a case like this I would use LINE IN L / LINE IN R 3. Highlight the first of your two channel-strips and then click the EDIT button at the top of the window 4. Select the patching tab 5. Select the USB-DAW tab under CHANNEL SOURCE 6. Tks for the answer. Logic recognized the Ui24 as an interface and played the tracks normally. But when I tried to play my bass it didn't work. I used input 1 in the UI and created a track with input 11 in Logic. But there was no sound.
ok, thanks for the further info. Do you have Core Audio enable in Logic? Do you have the correct device set as the input both in Audio Midi settings and in Logic itself? Did logic record the signal but you couldn't hear it while you're playing, or Did it not record anything at all? If you followed my steps in the video exactly, without jumping ahead, you should have no problems getting signal back and forth. If you did, and you still don't have signal, then it could be a faulty USB cable. I know that might not seem like the issue if you were able to play tracks from Logic to your mixer, but signal in only 1 direction can be a symptom of a bad cable. I would try another cable and see if it rectifies the issue. Let me know what happens if you do.

Can you plug your active monitors directly on the outputs ?
You can definitely use active monitors.
Atmos would likely not be possible as the system has no way to interpret the Atmos data.
