    • @GrubbyRabbitRepairs
      @GrubbyRabbitRepairs หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I'm no expert but I'm wondering if it could be that injector number 4 is not working correctly and is letting too much/too little fuel into the engine and making the car also think that it's got a electronic accelerator control (EAC) fault because it can't control engine fuelling properly. Or there is a chance it is two separate faults. A bit of googling shows EAC faults can be caused by a few things including the accelerator pedal sensor or wiring. Personally I'd go after the injector fault first and see if that gets rid of the EAC issue. You could always just unplug injector number 4 like in this video and see if the EAC fault disappears and you're just left with an injector fault. Where are you located?

      Hi, I'm pretty far away in south Lincolnshire near Bourne. Look at some other videos on how to take the air box off. It's pretty straightforward but there might be 2 bolts on the back of the air box that you can't really see. You have to undo them by feel really. I can't remember if they were for the air box or the rocker cover underneath. Sorry it's been a while since I did this. Not sure if it's something you fancy doing yourself but I got a used injector off eBay for £60ish and a full set of seals (injectors/rocker cover/leak off pipes) for £15ish off eBay. Buying a used injector is a bit of a gamble I guess, but you can buy reconditioned ones for £130ish. New ones are ridiculous and are £200+ each when I checked! I got a great tip for cleaning the injector seat from another video - get a length of 15mm diameter round wooden rod (dowel I think it's called) from a DIY store, then you can wrap a rag round the end to clean the injector seat, then superglue a round piece of fine wet and dry sandpaper to the end to take off any burrs and smooth the seat. When removing the little clips for the leak off pipes, hold them with pliers because they ping off and get lost! Also make sure you cover the top of the engine with rags once you've taken the rocker cover off because you really don't want to be dropping anything down the oil passage ways! Same with the injector ports once you've taken out an injector.

    Late to this, and marginally tangential, I've had about half a dozen high (ish) mileage Golf's, Jetta's and Passats with door electrical issues. The loom through the door doesnt quite have enough slack and the cables rub against each other with every door close and eventually short. It can be very irritating as if the door is shut with some vigour, the wires move and problems go away and perhaps new ones occur. Fiddly but relatively simple to fix, but have to solder, not use crimps etc as there isnt a lot of room.

      I think cheap aftermarket keys, the lower price of these capable DIY level scan tools, and TH-cam has made key programming more accessible. I had never thought of doing it before I bought my D7 for DIY car maintenance. Now I'm itching to do more 😁. I've even been looking at cheap DEFU key cutting/duplicating machines for £150ish that are supposed to be pretty good. It's an interesting field. Although I think to be a proper auto locksmith you'd need to spend thousands on equipment, plus the training and getting experience first. I guess dealers have expensive showrooms and all the latest equipment to pay for. Not sure about plumbers though, luckily i haven't needed one yet. I'm sure they're not all bad 🙂. @@kondaniphiri1278 Oh yes I think a Toyota could have lots of life left in it. Is it a diesel? If your turbo is accessible you could disconnect the air pipe to the turbo with the engine switched off, then you should be able to put a finger in and see if there is lots of play in the turbo spindle. As for the injectors, read any codes with a code reader. If that doesn't help, as well as the method in this video you could also try a leak off test to see if one injector isn't opening as much as the others. It's a helpful test especially if the engine doesn't fire up so you can't do the 'unplugging' test in this video. You can buy a test kit for £20ish off eBay. Lots of videos on TH-cam how to do it. Unless this supports full module coding, it can't even come close to VCDS overall . . . . May well be easier for diag, though.

    • @GrubbyRabbitRepairs
      @GrubbyRabbitRepairs 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, sorry what I said was unfair to VCDS. No, the D7 can only code limited modules on only a couple of makes of car I believe. I really meant the D7 feels much more user friendly for the DIY mechanic who is unlikely to need to do module programming. For advanced stuff like programming then VCDS for VAG cars would be far superior. Although I have recently used my D7 to program a new key remote and immobiliser chip for a Toyota so was very pleased with that! Thanks very much for your comment 🙂

    All that extra fuss.... Just spend a little more to get the right part. You're also still seeing too much O2. Probably an exhaust manifold leak.

    • @GrubbyRabbitRepairs
      @GrubbyRabbitRepairs 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The universal one was about £50 and the car specific one was about £85. For an old car I didn't really want to spend much on it as it'll be off to the scrap heap soon I think. I quite enjoyed the fuss anyway 😁. Thanks for your comment and the tip about the possible exhaust manifold leak 👍

      Hi, i bought this in April 2023 so I assume it's a 2023 model. It's updated online so I don't think it matters what year it was made. I downloaded and installed all the available online updates when I made this video. There is an option for ECU Programming in the Special Functions menu. I think it only works on limited cars though. Check on the XTool website or email their support for details of what cars ECU Programming works on. Thanks for your comment 🙂

    Had the same stuck bonnet catch problem on my 57 plate MK5 Golf TDi 1.9 Match. One of my mechanic friends popped over to help. He got me to pull the bonnet release lever as he banged on the bonnet, with his fist, in the area near to the bonnet catch mechanism. And Voila! The mechanism released and the bonnet opened. Give this a try before dismantling the VW badge, grill etc.

The fault code pretty much told me what was wrong but it was nice to back that up with a bit of live data so you can see the difference before and after changing a part. • @GrubbyRabbitRepairs
      @GrubbyRabbitRepairs 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know the accelerator pedal position wiring on a TDI runs through that conduit so you definitely could have the same problem of chafed wires. The needle lift sensor is on one of the injectors on a TDI. Not sure where the wiring goes for that

      @@adolg4049 I had the needle lift sensor on my T4 go bad and it caused a hesitation while accelerating. Are they mistaking that for a lack of fuel pressure? Have they read the fault codes? Where can you monitor the battery/voltage

    • @GrubbyRabbitRepairs
      @GrubbyRabbitRepairs ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, on my VW Golf you could see voltage at about 9:21 on the video in the engine module live data. With engine off it should read battery voltage, with engine on it will read alternator voltage. More modern cars would probably have more in depth data showing in one of the modules. I know there is a special function for resetting battery monitor after battery replacement for some cars. Within that battery special function menu there would be a live data button with battery specific data if applicable to your car.
