Hi! Thanks for sharing your video tutorial! Can I ask why is it that when I tried to edit the settings on washi sheet, it doesn’t give me the choice to edit the blade type. It only gave me the fine point blade. Help? Thank you!
Thank you! Brilliant stuff
Great tutorial!
Awesome video, thank you so very much 😊!!
Thanks Virginia!
Do you know if something has changed with the inset for font? I previously watched your video and this worked perfectly. Now the inset does not appear to work
Hi Jeanne, as far as I know the Design Space Offset/inset function is working fine. I was using it just yesterday to create insets to fill written texts and it worked as expected. I was using -0.011" insets to fill text with the fine point pen. What kind of results are you getting? If the Offset tool isn't working, try using the reload/force reload setting in the menu bar under "View", or quit DS and empty the cache, then reopen Design Space. I hope you get this figured out!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm new to HTV and this info is very helpful. Funny enough, I thought the fabric for this first project was polyester (hence your video), but on your advice, I checked the tag and it's cotton twill! Lesson learned: Never assume! LOL Looking forward to checking out your other videos. 😊
Thanks for the comment Lucy! Good luck on this project, you got this!
Is there an iron on that's as soft that I can print with an inkjet printer?
This was helpful
I have a Cricut Explore 3, and I don't know why it doesn't allow me to select the Washi Sheet. It says it not compatible :(
Cricut has a new feature in DS create sticker. Maybe the Kiss Cut is somewhat outdated? I wondered about these stickers after seeing them while making Christmas cards. Didn't know if it was a new product, technique or just what it was. I will have to try some to see if they look as impressive in person.
Thanks for the comment! We made these stickers before the Create Sticker function was available in Cricut Design Space. If you want to see how we used the Create Sticker function for 3D inflated Easter themed stickers, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/Z4wNhmSEx1E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FY6zm-I1osjZRh8e
thank you!! extremely useful
Thank you very much! Good luck with your project!
Thank you so much! I bookmarked this video months ago, waiting for the right project. It worked beautifully, I couldn't be happier with the results of my first try.
So happy to hear that! You made my day!
THANK YOU! This is the most helpful tutorial video I have ever watched (and I have watched MANY). Thank you so much! Your font and settings suggestions worked perfectly for my Christmas ornament project!
Thanks for the kind words! Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025!
What are your suggestions for character/design spacing using puff, so that the letters/words/designs don't puff too close together when pressing? I know you demonstrated how to cut the carrier sheets down to accomodate pressing all of it at once, but I'd like advice on actual spacing. Thanks!
Thanks for the great question! I wouldn't worry too much about puff spreading outwards during pressing...it's not like baking cookies 😀. You might lose fine internal details in graphics though. My advice: if you are worried about your puff vinyl elements squishing together, do a test press and see how the spacing works, then make the adjustments before you press your project. Good luck!
Could you do this but not place the first layer on something? So if I wanted to make a patch for a hat that someone else would put on?
My first thought would be that you would need to apply the first layer to some kind of fabric base. Secondly, even if you did build out multiple layers without "activating" the adhesive from the bottom layer of stripflock, the patch would be too thick to apply to a blank with the original bottom layer adhesive plus heat. I have been meaning to experiment with making a standalone patch with this technique. I might start with a base layer of fabric like canvas cut the fit the base layer of stripflock HTV, then build up the decal. Once the decal is finished, I would try fabric adhesive to apply it to whatever I was making the patch for - hat, bag, etc. I encourage you to experiment!
Where is the list of fonts. And HTV. Does that work on other than heat transfer
You can find the full list of our recommeded fonts for small letters here: sniptoit.com/how-to-cut-small-letters-on-a-cricut/. These fonts have been tested to cut out of HTV and adhesive vinyl
Thanks for such a concise tutorial!
Where did you get your clear brayer?
My Dad is a retired graphic designer and he gifted me all my brayers and 3M squeegees! This is an acrylic brayer, which I greatly prefer to rubber. You can find many acrylic brayers like this one on Amazon. Thanks for watching!
So they just LOOK puffy.
Yes, the 3D effect is created in Adobe Illustrator using the inflate tool. This is a popular sticker style right now, but the stickers are flat, it is entirely an optical illusion. This is why I recommend printing on white vinyl or sticker paper instead of transparent, to retain the white highlighting that makes the stickers look shiny and puffy.
@ cool thank you!!!
Well done-Excellent, Excellent tutorial!!! Thank you for taking the time to share this info with everyone. I learned so many things even though I’ve been using my Cricut for years! 👍🏻
You do not do an additional press after the initial tacking press of the vinyl?
when you layer, you have to take into account cumulative press time for all layers. Every layer I used in this video ended up getting pressed more than once except for the puff. if you press your bottom layers for only a second or two, then I recommend you press your last layer for the lower end of the full press time for that HTV. In this project I was mixing different brands and varieties of HTV which makes it a little trickier. If you are just layering eg Siser Easyweed, it is very easy and you're unlikely to overpress if you do a final 10 second press of your design.
How do you guys get the option to change your tool in the material settings to the deep point blade? I only have the fine point blade pop up when I click on it and can't change it at all.
Thank you, I was going to give up on trying the intricate work. But I've been reinspired.
the spoiler idea worked!!! Thanks
You're welcome
thank you so much I have been struggling for weeks!!!
Hi Ian! This was a great video! It's straight to the point and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Byrd!
After struggling for days now, finally, I found this tutorial and all of my struggles came to an ending. Well done and thank you.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm happy to help.
After months of few issues, and a hiatus, suddenly my machine is digging up my glitter vinyl lettering on just certain colors of the same brand that it has in the past worked ok. So I am anxious to try your remedies. I bought brand new name brand glitter vinyl and after 5 passes of varying pressure, new blades, and so on it never cut. Now I have glitter up in my housing with no way to clean it properly. I have ordered a new one fine blade deep cut that I hope will help. The box around the lettering may just salvage my projects. I do have a question. I think you are using Heat Transfer Vinyl as you would regular sticky vinyl. Is this correct that I can use HTV instead of regular vinyl? My letters and paw prints are scattering and pulling up as they cut. I wondered if HTV would work.
Thanks for watching! How is your machine cutting overall? If you've had a hiatus and now your machine is messing up all cuts, you may be in need of a firmware update, in which case I recommend calling Cricut support. If your machine is only having trouble cutting this specific glitter vinyl, it could just be that material. Each color or variety of vinyl will have a different formulation, and those differences can have an impact on how well the vinyl cuts, so I would do some small test cuts and compare the problematic vinyl to other glitter vinyl that cuts well. Maybe it's just best to try a different vinyl. What brand are you using? I'm a little surprised that your vinyl is shedding glitter that got into your blade housing, I've used glitter vinyl from Siser EasyPSV, Oracal, and StyleTech, and none of them shed. In answer to your final question, yes, you can use HTV instead of adhesive vinyl for many applications, such as on cardstock. HTV adhesive is meant to bond to fabric, but most HTV will also bond to materials like cardstock or wood. It's best to test first, though, because some brands of HTV don't stick that great to cardstock - you can check out my test of tiny HTV letters on cardstock here: sniptoit.com/how-to-cut-small-letters-on-a-cricut/#section2tinyfonts. (I like Siser best for cardstock) So, if your machine seems OK except for cutting this particular vinyl, you might just want to move on to another material. Using the Deep Point blade can help, and I use it all the time for cutting small details, but sometimes it's a lot easier to use something else, especially something that won't mess up your blade housing! I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@SniptoIt Thank you for such an in depth reply!!!! After about 6 months away from my Cricut I had to update all my computers' Design Space and that sent me into a tailspin. Two of my three computers Design Space is no longer compatible with. The computer I bought this year is compatible. Both of the other two are up to date. But I don't think that is my issue. Firmware, maybe but last time I checked, it was also up to date. So I cut a full page of (cheap brand that is no longer available) glitter vinyl and it was perfect. Same brand different color, same design, it chewed up the letters. Cleaned the blade and the next cut was better but the vinyl (I have learned so much about vinyl from your video!!!) was sliding off the backing. I am very anxious to try the reverse weed technique and the box. I think that could really turn things around. Anyway, I thought my vinyl might have dried out, that one color anyway, and bought a brand new roll at my local Michaels of their most new brand that they have switched out for the Oracle and the Siser they used to carry. I hesitate to mention the brand. THAT is the one that just did NOT work no matter what blade or setting and 5 passes or anything and scraped up glitter into the housing, etc. I took my mat still covered with the vinyl and the housing and the vinyl back to the store. They said no one had complained about this brand before and refunded my money. I asked if I had made a mistake and this wasn't FOR Cricut machines but it clearly states on the box that is is for most cutting machines and it was in with Cricut materials. Anyway, I am trying to even clean it out of my machine, the glitter. I am planning to take all the steps you outline and then some and try again. A new housing has been ordered with the fine deep cut blades and I will be reporting back. I already see that the boxes are going to be game changers! Thank you SO much! Loved your video and will subscribe!

I have now destroyed a sheet of HTV & 2 sheets of adhesive vinyl trying to figure this out and am kicking myself that I didn’t find your video BEFORE! This might be hands down the best tutorial I have seen and watching you explain all your research was so amazing! Thank you thank you!
Thanks for watching! I really hope your project works out. Remember: test cut, test cut, test cut 😃
I learned so much from your video. Thank you!
@@barbaraarwood9274 you're welcome! thanks for watching,
When I got to the material settings, and go down to Washi Sheet there isn't any options for other blades except fine point blade. Does anyone know how to change this?
if you're on a Maker 3, try the aluminum foil setting. That uses the same pressure, and uses the Deep Point blade by default
hi -thanks so much. very cool. is there a way to alter the template to make a stack thinner?
Hi Susan, before you lock the template layer, use the arrow tool to adjust the dimensions. grab one of the anchor points and pull it until you've got the shape you want. Lock the template layer when you're done and proceed with the rest of the tutorial.
The best useful tips I have ever seen for the Cricut weeding. THANK YOU!
The font you used is no longer on photo pea i guess. Any suggestions as to what other font is similar or how i can add a font from somewhere else. Thank you.
You. can add your own fonts to PhotoPea fairly simply. Open the font pulldown menu, and click the Load Fonts button and then select the font you want to use from your computer. I offer a more detailed overview of this process in an updated video I made here: th-cam.com/video/koiXojv8_X0/w-d-xo.html I have also compiled a list of 20 "groovy" fonts you can try using the wavy stacked text technique...you can check out that list and download new fonts here: sniptoit.com/groovy-fonts-for-wavy-stacked-text/
Thank you so much! I tried forever in Corel draw and photoshop and could not get it like this! You are a lifesaver!
Thanks so much for the kind words. I recently updated my technique to make it even easier. You can watch the updated tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/koiXojv8_X0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=U2PX48NCriHaVjaL
THIS is what I have been looking for! THANK YOU!!
You're welcome! Best of luck!
@@SniptoIt I am trying this but when I try to edit for Washi Tape it does not give me the option to switch to the Deep Point Blade.
@@frenchy8611 Are you trying to use the Maker3? Try switching to the Aluminum Foil setting...its the same pressure but uses the Deep Point Blade by default. Good luck!
@@SniptoIt yes Maker 3 - Thank you I will try!
Is this ianxofour?
Ha ha I wish I had that many subscribers!
@SniptoIt I'm embarrassed 😳 your voices sounded so similar at first, but then I went to his channel, and I could tell the difference, haha
When I edit Washi sheet there is only once choice for blade- the fine point blade. Do you know why?
What machine are you using? With Maker/Maker 3 you won't have the option. If you want to use the Deep Point Blade with low pressure, try the aluminum foil setting (turn off multicut) or create a custom setting with with the Deep Point blade and low pressure.
Your are so good and showing what others seem to leave out! THANK YOU
