      Are you using a Maker machine? Try using the Aluminum Foil setting: it uses the Deep Point blade by default and it uses the same amount of pressure as the Washi setting. Make sure you turn off the multi cut setting! Good luck, you got this!

      I had the same problem using a Cricut Maker. No option to change the washi sheet setting to the deep cut blade. Tried with the aluminum foil setting and the default pressure was not strong enough to cut through regular vinyl. Do you find you have to increase the default pressure a bit?

    • @SniptoIt
      @SniptoIt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aprilmcmillan77 Hi April. If the Aluminum foil setting is not cutting on default pressure, try selecting "More Pressure" from the pressure setting pull down menu on Design Space's Set Load and Go screen. If that still isn't enough pressure, try adding more cut pressure in the Edit Settings screen of the custom materials list. Good luck!

      Hello! thanks for the message. For Maker users, you can make a custom setting where you use the same cut pressure as Washi but set the blade type to Deep Point - or - you can try the Aluminum Foil setting, which uses the Deep Point Blade by default and uses the same approximate pressure as the Washi setting. Good luck!

    After months of few issues, and a hiatus, suddenly my machine is digging up my glitter vinyl lettering on just certain colors of the same brand that it has in the past worked ok. So I am anxious to try your remedies. I bought brand new name brand glitter vinyl and after 5 passes of varying pressure, new blades, and so on it never cut. Now I have glitter up in my housing with no way to clean it properly. I have ordered a new one fine blade deep cut that I hope will help. The box around the lettering may just salvage my projects. I do have a question. I think you are using Heat Transfer Vinyl as you would regular sticky vinyl. Is this correct that I can use HTV instead of regular vinyl? My letters and paw prints are scattering and pulling up as they cut. I wondered if HTV would work.

    • @SniptoIt
      @SniptoIt  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching!
      How is your machine cutting overall? If you've had a hiatus and now your machine is messing up all cuts, you may be in need of a firmware update, in which case I recommend calling Cricut support.
      If your machine is only having trouble cutting this specific glitter vinyl, it could just be that material. Each color or variety of vinyl will have a different formulation, and those differences can have an impact on how well the vinyl cuts, so I would do some small test cuts and compare the problematic vinyl to other glitter vinyl that cuts well. Maybe it's just best to try a different vinyl. What brand are you using? I'm a little surprised that your vinyl is shedding glitter that got into your blade housing, I've used glitter vinyl from Siser EasyPSV, Oracal, and StyleTech, and none of them shed.
      In answer to your final question, yes, you can use HTV instead of adhesive vinyl for many applications, such as on cardstock. HTV adhesive is meant to bond to fabric, but most HTV will also bond to materials like cardstock or wood. It's best to test first, though, because some brands of HTV don't stick that great to cardstock - you can check out my test of tiny HTV letters on cardstock here: sniptoit.com/how-to-cut-small-letters-on-a-cricut/#section2tinyfonts. (I like Siser best for cardstock)
      So, if your machine seems OK except for cutting this particular vinyl, you might just want to move on to another material. Using the Deep Point blade can help, and I use it all the time for cutting small details, but sometimes it's a lot easier to use something else, especially something that won't mess up your blade housing!
      I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions!

      @@SniptoIt Thank you for such an in depth reply!!!! After about 6 months away from my Cricut I had to update all my computers' Design Space and that sent me into a tailspin. Two of my three computers Design Space is no longer compatible with. The computer I bought this year is compatible. Both of the other two are up to date. But I don't think that is my issue. Firmware, maybe but last time I checked, it was also up to date. So I cut a full page of (cheap brand that is no longer available) glitter vinyl and it was perfect. Same brand different color, same design, it chewed up the letters. Cleaned the blade and the next cut was better but the vinyl (I have learned so much about vinyl from your video!!!) was sliding off the backing. I am very anxious to try the reverse weed technique and the box. I think that could really turn things around. Anyway, I thought my vinyl might have dried out, that one color anyway, and bought a brand new roll at my local Michaels of their most new brand that they have switched out for the Oracle and the Siser they used to carry. I hesitate to mention the brand. THAT is the one that just did NOT work no matter what blade or setting and 5 passes or anything and scraped up glitter into the housing, etc. I took my mat still covered with the vinyl and the housing and the vinyl back to the store. They said no one had complained about this brand before and refunded my money. I asked if I had made a mistake and this wasn't FOR Cricut machines but it clearly states on the box that is is for most cutting machines and it was in with Cricut materials. Anyway, I am trying to even clean it out of my machine, the glitter. I am planning to take all the steps you outline and then some and try again. A new housing has been ordered with the fine deep cut blades and I will be reporting back. I already see that the boxes are going to be game changers! Thank you SO much! Loved your video and will subscribe!

    Am new to all of this. I see there are a lot of cricut machines...🙋🏿‍♀️😶
    What machine specifically would you recommend me using for small letters?
    Thank in advance!

      Any full-size Cricut machine (Explore series or Maker series, not Joy or Joy Xtra) allows you to use different blade types (ie the Fine Point or Deep Point blade), so I would recommend one of those. The Explore Air 2 is the least expensive full size vinyl cutting machine of any brand, and it does a great job with small cuts when you use the Deep Point blade - it also allows you to change custom material settings more easily than the Makers.
      On the other hand, the Maker and Maker 3 have better motors that help with precision cutting, especially when using cardstock. If you would like to use a larger toolset (engraving tip, embossing tip, and tools to cut thin wood or fabric, etc.), a Maker or Maker 3 is still the best in the game (far more tools and options than any other brand, especially for fabric - nothing can compare).
      In the end, if you are just starting out and mainly want to cut vinyl/HTV and do some basic paper crafting, the Explore Air 2 is a solid choice for a small investment and you will be able to make almost any popular craft. If you want to be able to do a lot of advanced crafting, a Maker or Maker 3 is a great option, and you may be able to find the original Maker on clearance at a brick and mortar store these days (Staples, Walmart, etc.). I always recommend downloading Design Space from the Cricut site first, before you buy, to see if you are comfortable using the software. Thanks for watching!

    When I edit Washi sheet there is only once choice for blade- the fine point blade. Do you know why?

    • @SniptoIt

      What machine are you using? With Maker/Maker 3 you won't have the option. If you want to use the Deep Point Blade with low pressure, try the aluminum foil setting (turn off multicut) or create a custom setting with with the Deep Point blade and low pressure.

    I tried resetting in Washi mode, but it will only give me the option for a fine point in the pull down menu. I have a cricut maker.

      Hi Elissa. Thanks for the question. This is a known problem with the Maker settings. You can try using the Aluminum foil setting - it uses the Deep Point blade by default and uses the same cut pressure as the Washi setting. Be sure to set the multi-cut to "Off". Good luck! you got this.

      Are you using a Maker? Try the Aluminum Foil setting -- that uses the Deep Point blade by default. Do a test cut. If you need more pressure, increase the pressure from 78 gf to 85 to make it the same as the Washi Sheet setting. Hope this helps!

      if you're on a Maker 3, try the aluminum foil setting. That uses the same pressure, and uses the Deep Point blade by default

    I need to cut out a lot of labels at one time in bulk. Is this doable?

    • @SniptoIt
      @SniptoIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      it really depends on how many, what size and what material you are using. If you have to do 100+ with 0.25" lettering cut out of adhesive vinyl, I would say no way (what a weeding headache!)
      If you are doing a single 12 x 12 sheet, with a reasonable font, it's probably ok. When I was testing fonts, I cut and weeded probably 6 or 7 feet of vinyl with 0.25" tall lettering. If I was using a font like Budokan Rounded, Momcake, Eagle Bold, a stencil font like Bauhaus or Blippo or thick script like Velvet Heart or Salut, I would be fine doing a lot of labels.
      BUT, if you want to make a ton of labels with a sentence case font, I would say it's not worth it.
      If you do decide to cut these labels, make sure to use a weeding box around each one; it will make the job easier!

    What if you use a Cricut Joy? Any advice?

    • @SniptoIt
      @SniptoIt  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Nathalie, thanks for the great question. I have not tested small fonts with the Joy, but...
      1. pick a font that has the characteristics I describe in the video,
      2. If you can , use HTV or Cricut Premium vinyl. Avoid Smart materials, because the very thick backing makes it difficult to use with small, detailed cuts.
      3. If you need to, reduce your cut pressure for whatever material you are using.
      4. You can edit this in the Custom Materials settings in Design Space for the Joy.
      I hope this helps you get started. Best of luck!

    • @SniptoIt

      Hi Atina! You could try using the Aluminum Foil setting, which uses the Deep Point blade and a cut pressure of 78. An if you need to, you could increase the cut pressure to 85 (same as Washi sheet). I've used the Aluminum Foil setting myself and had fine results. Hope this helps!

      I use the point tweezer, which you can buy in full size or the petite tweezer sets. I like the petite size, and I find that Tweezerman is made of much better materials than weeding tools or no name items. I've had mine for over 15 years
