It was interesting watching you do that, Greg, even if I had no idea what half of what I was looking at was. What was that vertical cylinder with one line to it and what looked like a drain valve near the bottom? One thing I do know, the difference between a head and a cylinder, which you called a head more than once. 😉🔧That access port for getting at the crank nut was really nice! That bike seems to be in amazing condition for its age!

Looks like a nice one. I had an '80 with single piston calipers. The '82 has the best brakes of the 1100s. Dual piston calipers and no interconnection. Riding a 1987 GL1200 now and want to take the fairing off. Oil in the air box is normal. Engine vent goes into the air box.

Nice comparison video. I decided on the Randakk's kit for my '85 GL1200. We could've been neighbors. I'm from Grandview. I left there in 1984 for my job. Live near Louisville, KY now.

I truly love my Honda 1011 & I enjoyed watching you work on this one. I'm trying to remove 2 linkages from top of the carb, but can't get them to budge. I do understand it's not your machine, but would you possibly have any suggestion as to how to disconnect these linkages? Thank you!

How to turn it off?

Another super video, with clear explanation of procedure, presented in an entertaining style. I noticed on the test ride that there was a pronounced transmission noise under acceleration. Has the bike covered very high mileage, or was it just the camera microphone picking up on this sound?

It's not clear which way up you fitted the seals... and It's important.

Thank you! Going to be using this video in a couple months when I replace my leaky fork seals. I do have a question though. Is it two different kinds of oil that you use or the same? For the time that you eye measured and pumped the air out and when you had an exact amount measured out (382 cc's).

Must be nice to be able to get that part. I have an "82 Kawasaki KZ440 LTD that has a bad pickup coil. Starts good then I can ride about 10 miles before she quits. I have to spray the coil with some electronic freeze spray then I can ride maybe another 10 miles and do it again and again til I get home. Kawasaki doesn't make the part anymore. I got a used one from Ebay and it didn't work at all. Can't find a good one anywhere. I guess that's it for the bike.

Is Snapper a good brand of push mowers?

I have a 1982 cm 250 custom. Almost the exact same bike . I have A chain drive. Accept that I don't have an accelerator pump circuit,My carburetor is pretty much identical. Also inside the float bowl at the bottom of one of the jets, I have a rubber plug. Although I did not use a subSonic tank, I did rebuild the carb. It starts right up, but. I cannot get it to idle. It is either racing or trying tinstall. Not sure if I need assistance finding another carburetor or what..

Pull the choke and leave it on for a bit mine does the same thing and it runs a lil better and after like 10 mins of running it with choke on you might be able to run it regularly

Whay not start with remove the exhaustmuffler, and carburator, and take a leakdowntest , thats wil tel you much of engine conditon are,

I have a 06 big bear 400 that the negative cable ended up getting loose and melted the negative post on the battery. Put a new battery in and now I have the same symptoms, I have lights but no crank, but will crank by jumping solenoid but no start. I hope it isn't my ecu because $$$

The cam bearing on the gear side was installed backwards. The sealed side faces to the outside.

Will one qt be enough for both shocks ?

I have a 15 year old similar Toro I use at my lodge. A member donated it. I did frequent oil changes and had it serviced at a local shop. Last Spring the deck imploded. Deck cracked by the chute, abd was rusted through several other places. Checked at a local shop gor s decent deck. They had a much newer deck available, almost new. Apparently a local lady had the mower a few months and ran it out of oil. Had them do the swap. So for about 35% cost of a new mower, we now have one that will probably out live me.

Had no idea how to work on a engine I took of the carb and bought a new one and a new air filter installed it by myself and started right up all form watching this video!

"Maybe this isn't a bike you ride fast" Certainly not with bad fork seals! Like steering a wet noodle. Otherwise, you can ride fast. However the fairing lifts the front wheel 120-125, settles back down at 130. Weird. Thanks for the vid. Honda warms to not try to repair the GL1100 fork seals at home. Dealer only repair.

I would have handled that completely differently. The owner had zero consequences for the low oil condition. Without consequences he’ll do the same thing again and again to poor, defenseless small engine equipment. Time to teach him a life lesson - take care of your internal combustion buddies or they’ll go live with someone else. I would have cleaned up and honed that cylinder, polished the piston and installed new rings and given it back with a compression report after final test, showing compression report of healthy engine for comparison. Also explaining slight loss of horsepower and any constant smoking that may occur, especially at startup. Enabling is never a good policy - it only leads to more of the same. Hoping you could help me, I have a question regarding an 82 gl1100. I took the carbs and plenum off, cleaned them thoroughly as it was very gummed up and 3 of the 4 idle jets were completely plugged. After reinstall, it fires right up and runs and idles great until I attach the throttle cables. The top cable is short and the bottom cable is longer than it needs be, I didn't think I made any adjustments on tear down and reinstall...is it possible that the throttle cable bracket/holder somehow has moved? I ask this as the cables are short or long the identical distances and I am certain I have them oriented correctly....PMEASE HELP
