I just picked up one of these mowers today from a friend said didn’t run was gonna haul it to scrap it . Done a carb cleaning job on it and runs perfectly fine now. Thanks for sharing your experience!!
Thanks for the video sir , i have the same John Deere mower , i went to John Deere and this mower and i guess everything about it has been discontinued , John Deere does not make Push mowers any more at all , all they make is riding mowers , just a heads up , i had to buy the new plastic wheels at Lowes , to replace them , and now it will not start , i guess i can start by cleaning the carb 1st , i am curious what kind of ignition it uses , if i have no spark , Briggs and Straton are pretty east to change out the key and the points and condenser , never worked on a John Deere before , i could use some tips if it is the ignition , thanks .
I buy the Tecumseh carb needle seats by the dozen and automatically replace any I find. They’re dirt cheap and the tool isn’t that much either, especially the knockoff one, plus it literally takes seconds to replace. My $.02! 😉🔧👍

No parts required, just a cleaning. Your neighbour should be pleased with that. Also nice of you to do that for her.
She is a great lady so I help her out when I can.
