I know this is just about 'Mechs, but since we are on FWL stuff, want to know what makes the wraith even worse in the FWL faction? It can carry anti mech battlearmor

The wraith is like the Uziel 8-s. It's criminal to have a BV that low for what you get.

This is a very unique way that you have produced explaining the rules through play and sharing it with us. I believe you have hit the nail on the head for these videos. now if you can produce these in short video form I believe you have a money maker on TH-cam. Funny lore tidbit about the Man o'War: due to it's huge enigne and most weapons located in the arms veteran IS pilots simply amputated the arms of the Mech and then left it alone, leaving an angry Clan pilot behind. Of course how that would work in a table top game is another story.

I don't like the thought of exposing some elements of my force early. The opponent's going to focus all firepower on the easiest target, as long as you're deliberate about which unit that is, the rest only need to be harder to hit than that guy. Better to have their weapons in play with low targeting penalties

For a merccompany the longbow is a nogo. Four hunter tanks and you could also purchase four galeons with tag infantry for its price, maybe....

As the LRM faction, I would have added a Longbow or Trebuchet variant in there somewhere. The LGB-12R with 4xLRM15s with jump jets is one of my go-to's for delivering swarms of semi-guided munitions.

Always considered Marik to be the LRM boat faction Love the look of Orion, it's disappointed me a bit with its explosive hits and pathetic heat sinks I like the awesome, but my group plays RAT vs RAT so "just use two Shreks" isn't an option

The crusader was also based of of a varatech

The Juliano is a great Dark Age FWL assault mech. It's mixed tech so the BV is high but you get what you pay for

Im a Big Fan of the Anzu G70, reasonable mobile, armored and armed as well as the Juliano 5A if you have something to break the armor first. If it comes to my alltimes Favorites: Stalker 5M ,Flashman 9M, Guillotine 7M and Spider 8/9M

I agree about the Albatross. I had one give my Banshee all kinds of trouble during an Operation Guerrero mission. Another great counter to a Wraith is a Nightsky. That hachet swinging bastard chased my Wraith all over the map.Any reason you skipped the Awesome? Or the third best heavy in 3055, the Tempest?

purple birds are my IS faction of choice for lore (Orloff mafia FTW), but their military and mech choices generally suck with a few exceptions I would add Tempest for a low end heavy - always punched above its weight for me

I've been purposely playing in ilclan to get myself up to speed. I love a lot of what I've seen for reformed purple birds. Personal favorites are the eris (any) and the sarath 10B. I just can't say no to talons + TSM ❤

The mech that has a better than 1:3 chance of exploding if the pilot hits the "Fire Everything" button. Preferably done with a screaming headbutt, like Coop would do in Megas XLR.

For the Orion ON1-M the extra ton of SRM ammo is best used with smoke rounds for a heavy smoke screen. The +2 to hit buff when standing in the heavy screen also blocks LOS when standing behind the screen. Between the Orions heavy armor and screens the armor just last longer The Albatross has a good appraisal from FWL players. The Goliath just lost a game vs one of those. Hard to dig out standing in heavy woods. Wraith TR1 is a excellent mech. Yes the Free Worlds League has many other good anchor or line mechs. I, it surprised me that you noticed the Goliath. I will not write a book for you on this one but let the player discover that the FWL may have few assault level machines but the ones they do have are pretty good. A FWL players are the only authorized battletech players to give someone the bird.

The Wraith is such a crazy fun mech, playing with a get in and get out style is a blast.

This is a great series. I am curious how the Awesome didn't make this list. It's manufactured strictly in the FWL and the 3025 Awesome 8Q is iconic.

The Wraith is so undercosted because both pulse and jump 7 cost significantly less BV than they should. It’s also a well designed mech that would be good regardless but the undercosting pushes into BV efficiency nightmare machine.

Purple Bird Strong! I love the Wraith, one of my favorite mechs in the era. As a Free Worlds player, I've also had a lot of success with the Marauder 3M for my 3025 Needs. While not able to do as much damage as the 3R, the extra heat sinks allows it to keep firing, longer and more consistently. When the Wraith isn't available, I've found myself with the Wolverine 6M. Some day I'm going to play the IlClan era with the Classic rules and test out the Juliano, Quasimodo and Eris.

It's an oddball but I've always kinda had a fondness for the Anvil. It's tough little bully in the mold of the ostsol that wants to get close to you and then beat you apart with large pulse lasers.

What timing. My local is doing a "Marik civil war" event in December, restricted to marik in lostech time period.

Uziel UZL-8S is what I take when I should take a Wraith TR-1 but I don't want to take a Wraith TR-1. A pair of Spider SDR-9Ms are another option for Wraith, but not. Vspls are kinda cheesy.

The Orion has gotta be one of my all time favs. I bought the metal mini when I first started playing BT but unfortunately none of the pieces fit together at all and I ruined the mini. I know how to assemble metal minis better now but it still hurts thinking about it. He lives on as a terrain piece to remind me. 😭

Marik is the worst. Removing PPC's for Large Lasers makes them my least favorite faction to pick mechs from.

Wraith is cheap because it is a knife fighter. I'm not 100% sure, but swaping to Clan tech bumps the price by 500-600.
