I think the thickness of a lot of the legs and guns is simply so the miniatures survive injection molding proccess. I kinda prefer it a lot because the only fasa plastic marauders I've seen online are missing an arm on sprue. We live in an age of QC over form, and I'm glad the mechs are coming with all their guns and limbs.
I enjoy all of Trailblazer videos 🎉🎉😊
I feel like the new cgl designs are very intentionally taking into account they're going to be made into pvc miniatures. Which I think they're very good about. Additionally, the geneology of the cgl and pgi designs of the marauder (and marauder IIC) are fascinating.
Having gotten into Robotech before Battletech I never understood why the Ost-series of mechs were labeled unseen, considering they look almost nothing like Tactical Battle Pods
Been enjoying these. Don't agree with all the conclusions, but that's to be expected on subjective stuff. I like that you provide good reasons for your conclusions though. If I had a knock, it's the inconsistent choice of art to represent the Unseen, jumping between TRO 3025 and 3050 versions. Regardless, keep up the great content!
I can't unsee the ostroc teeth now
Symmetry of a central gun in the center torso? There is no room for that in a center torso.
No unseen came from Robotech. They were designed and owned by Studio Nue which lend them to Macross. Harmony Gold borrowed them because Harmony Gold only had distribution rights over the audiovisual product of Macross, but they thought they owned the whole IP.
I love the new Marauder 2 more than the original.
Ostsol also looks like Dr. Robotnik.
Hard disagree on the Marauder II. The original looks like a Marauder. The new one actually looks like they took the original’s frame and added 25 tons of armor, structure, and heat sinks.
I have to say, I generally prefer the newer looks. The old ones have their nostalgic charm...or were ripped wholesale from other sources...but the redesigns are superior to my eyes.
For example, I find it funny you find the turret unrealistic on the Goliath but the legs and their spindly lack of articulation are no bother at all XD
Unrelated ramble BattleTech Recognition Guide Vol.1 Classics is one of my favourite TROs and it's for the IlClan era , imo you should play that era because of said TRO
I cant really understand how anyone likes 80ies vague mech art objectively. I mean i dont think the artists back then really knew what a mech was supposed to be, so i see alot of unnecessery lines drawn on those artwork that does absolutely nothing other than to look like a "detail". Modern BT art looks fresh and purposeful. Far more so than the old ones. Alex really did bring a new life into Battletech art. CGL ones are not perfect, because they still have some unnecessery detailing on mechs (it is hard to make it look great AND detailed in purposeful manner) but overall it is a gargantuan improvement.
The OG Ostol is such an ugly piece of garbage, despite being one of the better 60 tonners.
Matt Plog fixed the art up and the miniatures therefore look decent. The new version is spot on. Plogs is cool too.
