    I had a pair of earpads from Brainwavz but they were Protein PU Leather, so after 1 year and half of 6+ hours daily usage they started to chip away. Now I'm getting the micro-suede which I heard they are more comfortable and don't get destroyed like fake leather. What's your opinion after 1 year?

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to have the same problem with PU leather, especially in the summer when I am sweating more. My favorite are the micro-suede. They're comfortable and last. I am still happy with them. I am not a big fan of the velour but it is ok. I replaced all PU leather earpads with these. You should be satisfied :)

      @@mdaasil2329 Well it depends. Where the noise is coming from? The only added value I see with the Play!4 is to offer a convenient way to do calls when working from home with a regular earphones (mute button). It offers a noise cancellation feature (both ways) and you can adjust the sound based on your preferences (3 modes if I remember correctly). You can also play games or watch movies if for example you have some issues with your sound card, the sound is decent but I would not recommend it for a music lover. The good thing is it is not expensive. Not helping right? Sorry :)

      I think it is made just for headphones. It will not give enough power for speakers, unless you use very small or active speakers. Anyway, I do not think it is the best device for this kind of usage. Plus, for the audio part, I think you can find better devices elsewhere :) There is was a reddit post here for the SB x4: www.reddit.com/r/SoundBlasterOfficial/comments/q13rex/speakers_to_connect_to_sound_blaster_x4/ As I do not have speakers (at all), I cannot make any test. Apologies for the delay. I did not see/get the notification. To be honest it sound good, I like to have it with me when I walk and it is better than the 12 euros "Apple Headphone Jack Adapter" but it is also much more expensive. Now to be fair, when I travel and I am willing to carry something bigger, I prefer to take the iFi Diablo with which gives, to my old ears, a much better sound. It has more details and brings more clarity. But it is also much more expensive. So for the price, the bundle with the 3 cables and the sound quality delivered, I would say it is a go for me. However, you might be able to find some other cheaper alternatives from Chinese brands which are very competitive for their prices.

    I have recently bought my first mobile DAC for my Android smartphone, the "Sharkoon Mobile DAC PD". It costs 20€ on Amazon. The Violectric CHRONOS is 10x this price. I wonder if it's 10x better ? Your thoughts ? Any suggestions ? Is the Violectric the better pick ? Thx.

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. I am always wondering when I buy something which is significantly more expensive if it is going to be X times better or not. Regarding the Chronos, it is good, small, very practical, good looking... and I like it. It is pretty subjective. But I can say it is for me better than the Creative Play!4 and the Apple adapter I own. The apple cost 12 euros so it is an unfair comparison there. I would have issues to talk about the "Sharkoon Mobile DAC PD" as I do not have it. At the end, it is also a matter of taste. What is good to my ears by not be good for yours. As an example, a very recent one, we compared with a friend the Focal Clear and the Focal Clear MG. The clear is better for me but not for my friend. A mater of taste... One thing I could say if you are looking for something better than your "Sharkoon Mobile DAC PD", you could have a look at the "Lotoo PAW S1 USB DAC/AMP". It seems it is a pretty good one for the price of the Chronos. It got some rewards and seems to be very well appreciated. Maybe have a look there :)

    • @Super-it3ij
      @Super-it3ij 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you're happy with your purchase then you don't need to complicate yourself and just enjoy it but if one day you decide to invest on audiophile grade earphones and listen to music in lossless formats, you'll realize that not all DAC/AMPs are created equal. then you'll want devices that have close to zero noise flooring and pump enough juice to drive your cans all while not distorting/coloring the music if your hearing capacity isn't too diminished maybe you'll also start caring about sound stage, depth, representation of lows/mids/highs, etc but as i said at the beginning, if you're happy with the way you're listening to music right now, you don't need to spend more money on audio devices cheers

      Hi! Sorry for the delay but I wanted to try the Chronos with my HD660S as I do not have the HD600. Of course it worked well but this headphones is only 150 Ω. In order to have a more relevant test, I also tried with the HD800S which is 300 Ω. It works fine but you need to raise the volume a little bit. On the tiny documentation delivered with the Chronos, it is written it will accept 16-600 Ω for the headphones impedance. In your case (HD600 - 300 Ω) , that should work without any problems. There is no builtin battery. It takes its juice from the phone... Otherwise you have some other alternatives from iFi with builtin batteries. Some Chinese makers are also proposing devices like that like FiiO but I have never played with these. I hope this helps.

      To make it short, I do think the HD800S is a fantastic headphones. I do like my HD660S but every single cents spent on the HD800S worth it. Really. The combo Imaging, detail retrieval and soundstaging are pushed far beyond what the HD660S can offer. Comfort is also much better in my opinion. Try the HD800S with a live concert, you will be surprised by the soundstage and the air between instruments. I love it :) Ok it is less nice than the Focal Clear MG, but that's the only drawback I can find right now.

      Thank you! I am copying a reply I gave on the unboxing video I made earlier. A user asked me a similar question :) Ok I have made some tests via my android phone and called another phone to see what was working and was not. First, once you plug the Play!4 it is immediately recognized as a communication device with a tiny headset displayed on the top part of the screen. Then you can turn of your mic with the dedicated button and also change the sound type via the other dedicated button. It work well and it is very nice to have. I still used my Apply Earpods for the tests. Regarding your question, it does not perform noise cancellation at all. I activated a fan and was able to hear it on the other side. I check their website and they says "Portable Plug-and-play Hi-res USB DAC with Auto Mute and Two-way Noise Cancellation via SmartComms Kit for Conference Calls". This means you need the SmartComms Kit which is included in the app. So not sure if they will ever release and app for mobile devices but I think you cannot expect to have the same features without the app. Sorry :) Edit: Adding link hk.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-play-4

      Thanks for the comment! Now I will try to reply to your difficult question. While the Focal Clear MG have a lot of good things for them and I am talking not only about the look or the great built quality, the soundstage and the imaging are not as wide and precise compared to the HD800S which is my favorite headphones until now. When I listen to Qobuz and I am discovering new bands, new albums or new tracks, I very often use the DT1900 Pro or the HD660S. I think they are great overall purpose headphones. Not perfect, but not as expensive as some others like the Focal Clear MG. Why am I saying this? Because you mentioned you wanted to capture all details and I am not sure this is what you get with the Focal Clear MG. Some people say it is a downgrade compared to the previous Focal Clear. I cannot tell because I have not tried the previous generation. Now saying this, the Focal Clear MG are very good. It feels like the band is playing in front of you in a smaller space. Instrument separation might be less precise but you can definitely enjoy it. Does it worth 1500 euros? Well you will be the judge for that. It is a great pair of cans but I still prefer the "uglier" HD800S for the sound part. I personally prefers my DT1990 which is more precise in my opinion. On the over hand, the Clear MG are much more comfortable and you can really wear them for hours while I cannot do it with the DT1990. The Clear MG are also a bit more "punchier" compared to the HD800S which is probably something you will like. Imaging aside, you should like them. Sorry if my answer is not "clear" (joke aside) but it is not really easy question :) The best would be for you to go and try them with your favorites tracks and compare the sound between different headphones (and with the same amp if possible).

I'm currently using a self-modded T50rp mk3 and would just like to experience something of very high end, because for me I only stick to 1 headphone that I wear everyday, and would just like 1 very good one that would be good for alot of music. I thing don't want to own multiple lower cost headphones because I know I would have to change between them, and it would change my perception of each of them because I'm used to the sound signature of the previous headphone. Also maybe I shouldnt have said very detailed use, since most of metal is badly recorded and I meant that I want instruments in a metal track to not sound compressed/undefined. Sorry I'm only quite new to the hobby, and only heard headphone as good as the t50rp and I have a lot more to experience in this hobby. The point is that I'm just trying to find 1 best open back headphone for mainly metal music, since I have t50rps for isolated use. And I think the clear mg is the best option at this time. I was there for a month some few years ago but they might disappeared in the mean time. Anyway, I understand you. I really do. When I wanted to buy get my first pair of cans, I was targeting the Focal Utopia with the Focal Arche. And you know what? I am glad I did not buy it because I would have been frustrated and my journey to this world would have been spoiled. instead I have started with the DT1990 and later with the RME ADI-2 DAC... I have learned a lot and I still do. Going back to your point. Depending on how you would like to spend, I think you keep in mind the amp has to match or at least be good enough for the headphones. Maybe you will need a DAC, some cables... well the budget can cover a wide range of "compulsive" shopping afterwards. I still think the DT1990 is pretty good for this job and I also like the HD660S. I do like rock, metal and these are doing a good job. Of course, the HD800S is also amazing. Check some reviews, there are many covering the music type aspects. Would you go for an open back or a closed back? Some people prefer closed because it is pushier. I have found a review for you: headfonic.com/best-headphones-for-metal-music/ It is 2 years old so you will not have the Focal Clear MG there. You can see the HD800S is listed... ;) Before I forget, even if I am not a big fan of closed back headphones, I can say my Audio Technica ATH-M50x is doing a pretty good job as well. I share your point of view. It is a very beautiful one. I hope one day I will also be able to get the Meze Empyrean. In short, my first impression was "WTF is this!". I think I got used to the Sennheiser sound signature. The sound is very natural, vocals are beautiful and I would say more present or forward than with the HD800S. The bass is there and this is much more present than with the HD800S. The sound is lush and clean with a nice presentation. While the imaging is good, I think I still prefer the one from the HD800S. Maybe because to my ears, the HD800S has a wider soundstage and the feeling is very different. On one had you have a very large soundstage, a very good imaging and a lighter sound but you are one step backward, on the other hand you have a narrower soundstage with maybe a less precise instrument separation (or it is a soundstage feeling effect?) and a sound with more bass but the band is playing in front of you. The feeling is very different. Honestly I like them both. I tried different albums from Jazz, Metal... to Classical and maybe it depends which kind of music you want to listen to at the end. Same budget but different target. If I take Norah Jones or Melody Gardot, maybe I relax a bit more with the HD800S than with the Clear MG. But AC/DC or Linkin Park seem to be better with the Clear MG. It is a matter of taste at the end. Note it is my first Focal and I did not try the previous Clear. Thank you! It is not an easy question. I would say for music, I would prefer the HD660S because it is warmer and maybe smoother with less meat in the sound. I mean it is light on this side. While the DT1990 Pro seems to be fuller with better details but can create a fatigue after a while. On the quality side, the DT 1990 Pro is a tank compared to the HD660S. I prefer the DT 1990S for the comfort as well maybe because I used it more than the new HD660S. Maybe after some time I will change my mind. Last but not least, the DT1990 is unbalanced unless you mode it while you can have both balanced and unbalanced with the HD660S. So overall, as the price is more or less the same, for music maybe go for the HD660S and for all the rest, go for the DT1990. @@spooky1640 I went through the documentation and the next day everything was already forgotten. I have the user guide next to the dac and I need to check there from time to time. I find it pretty complex. BTW there some nice videos on the RME channel.

    When might we see this with the new Ryzen 7 5800U?

      The 5800U has just been released a week or two ago. I think it will take some time before being integrated by the manufacturers. But I hope to be wrong :) The performances are interesting compared to the Apple M1. Still 15W TDP but lower frequency, 7nm vs 5nm. Intel vs AMD vs Apple. That's pretty good for us.

      I checked CPU Monkey to get an overview of the performances: www.cpu-monkey.com/en/cpu-amd_ryzen_7_5800u-1763

    How would you install drivers on a CD on a PC that doesn't have one?

    • @cernus2279

      I guess they assume you have an external drive for that. Anyway, the best is once you have your system ready and connected to the internet, to download the latest drivers from the ASUS website. Honestly I have not used any CD for the last years :)
