  • Few words about the Sound Blaster Play! 4.
    It is a portable DAC (24-bit/192kHz) you can use at the office... or at home if you do home office.

    great review! . just a one question: this device work on speakers? or just on headphones? That is, does the application have the option of headphones or speakers?. thanks greettings.

      I think it is made just for headphones. It will not give enough power for speakers, unless you use very small or active speakers. Anyway, I do not think it is the best device for this kind of usage. Plus, for the audio part, I think you can find better devices elsewhere :)
      There is was a reddit post here for the SB x4: www.reddit.com/r/SoundBlasterOfficial/comments/q13rex/speakers_to_connect_to_sound_blaster_x4/
      As I do not have speakers (at all), I cannot make any test. I hope this helps a bit.

    Hi! Thx for video does it have an amp? Increase the overall output volume on all device?

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it depends what you connect. It is USB powered so do not expect too much from it. I only used low impedance headsets/headphones to test it and it was doing its job. Now, to drive something more depending might be difficult.

    This or the sound blaster g1 for gaming?

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay I did not see the notification. I do not know the G1 but I would say it seems more suitable for gaming according to the description page from Sound Blaster. It also can do 7.1 and go up to 300 ohms according to the manufacturer.
      The Brand is pretty well-known for it sound cards so I am pretty sure they did a nice job with the G1.

    Will it work with my oneplus 8?

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, as you have a USB-C port and an Android-like OS (not sure what Oxygen OS adds there), I would say yes. However keep in mind you will have just access to the basic features. Only on a Windows PC you will get access to the full features.

    Does the creative play software require internet for working?

    • @cernus2279

      Nope. Sorry I have missed your comment... You can use the software but will probably need a connection for the updates from time to time.

    Does it work for apple lossless audio? Does it play good 4 music

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not test it as I do not have Apple Music but I do not see why it would not work with their spatial audio thing. For the sound, I think you can find better alternatives if you increase a little bit the budget.

      @@sujithsatish000 Ok I am now getting your question. Yes it will be able to decode the signal to 24/192. However the sound is just average to my ears. You can use it as a dac but maybe you should study the market to see if there no better alternatives (and I am pretty there are some).

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279  ปีที่แล้ว

      In both cases it will be powered by the USB port so I do not think it will change much. Your headphones are 50 ohms so it should work without any problem.

      Thank you! I am copying a reply I gave on the unboxing video I made earlier. A user asked me a similar question :)
      Ok I have made some tests via my android phone and called another phone to see what was working and was not.
      First, once you plug the Play!4 it is immediately recognized as a communication device with a tiny headset displayed on the top part of the screen. Then you can turn of your mic with the dedicated button and also change the sound type via the other dedicated button. It work well and it is very nice to have. I still used my Apply Earpods for the tests.
      Regarding your question, it does not perform noise cancellation at all. I activated a fan and was able to hear it on the other side.
      I check their website and they says "Portable Plug-and-play Hi-res USB DAC with Auto Mute and Two-way Noise Cancellation via SmartComms Kit for Conference Calls". This means you need the SmartComms Kit which is included in the app. So not sure if they will ever release and app for mobile devices but I think you cannot expect to have the same features without the app. Sorry :)

      It should. Nice headphone btw :)
      According to the manufacturer, it is written "Supported Headphone Impedance: 16-150Ω" so you should not have any problems with the DT770/80 ohms.

    how much cpu is the software utilising?

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not notice any heavy use of the CPU when I tested the software (on Windows). But to be honest with you, I did not use the Play!4 much because the software going with it is only existing for Windows. I mainly using macOS.

      @@cernus2279 ohh thanks bro. Do you think it will remove the static noise from my earphone?

    • @cernus2279
      @cernus2279  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mdaasil2329 Well it depends. Where the noise is coming from? The only added value I see with the Play!4 is to offer a convenient way to do calls when working from home with a regular earphones (mute button). It offers a noise cancellation feature (both ways) and you can adjust the sound based on your preferences (3 modes if I remember correctly). You can also play games or watch movies if for example you have some issues with your sound card, the sound is decent but I would not recommend it for a music lover. The good thing is it is not expensive. Not helping right? Sorry :)
