Clarissa: "You really want to get it well-greased. Did you see, "Last Tango in Paris? Something like that." Referring to the scene when lots of butter was used as lube. I spit out my hot tea and laughed for hours after she said that! I have noticed that Jennifer is always looking for approval from Clarissa about her food. She is always saying, "Look at this, beautiful..." "Smells wonderful...." "Pretty, pretty..." "Look how pretty.." "Wonderful smell...." Very annoying.... super annoying...... "Look how pretty" (shows: mixing of chocolate, coffee, and bread crumbs to a cake mix). Who the heck feels the need to show commonly mix ingredients to say, "Look how pretty." In reality, it's not a pretty look....... wtf. When she was mixing soft butter, sugar, and egg yolks...she said, "Isn't it lovely?" Yeah, it looks like what anyone else mixing common ingredients together would look like....

Miss them.. Love watching..they certainly were unique

Jennifer can be right down nasty and rude (passive-aggressive). On top of it, she always looked like she was about ready to fall over..... @26:56 "Never mind, get on with it!" What Clarrisa should have replied: "%&^* you! Buzz off!" Clarissa always made very delicious-looking food. At times, Jennifer would make this weird slop. I always thought she was trolling people by the slop she was cooking.

As an American, I was first introduced to the WI by that movie “Calendar Girls”. This episode has a special place in my heart. ❤

I adore(d) Jennifer and Clarissa and would have moved to Britain with the hope of working for them or the production for which they worked. Being a gay man of a certain age zi now have no Hags, or Flys in my life. For those in the know, a Gay man's Fag Hag or Fruit Fly would be his confidant and he would be hers. This relationship is often deeper than the marital partners of either. I've had five hags who entered my life making it richer and deep fulfilling. Sadly, all of my girls have died, the last crossed over the first of February. Jennifer and Clarissa...(sigh). If only.

OMG! This was one of my favorite episodes from when I was a teenager growing up. I actually learned the basics of how to make vichyssoise, something that was never made where I come from, thanks to this episode.

I remember seeing this wonderful show on WHRO PBS years ago. It brings back such great memories!!!

Two fat ladies is without a doubt the best cooking show in history.

I watched them back in the 90s when they were filmed. I think they had strong opinions about Americans, not sure it was joking, but I don't think it was supposed to be mean in nature. Often the things they said were stereotypes. It's like the nonsense that the British people all on the internet say Americans don't have electric kettles. Yet i know tons of people here who use electric kettles. My grandmother had one all the years I can remember. I think a lot of their cultural or ethnic foods are very anglicized, not very authentic. But they are great fun to watch as long as you don't take them too serious.

Greatest cooking show of all time. Nothing and nobody could touch these dames. The real golden girls. 💛

I love the 2FLs, but honestly, where do they get their ideas about American or Mexican cooking. Their experimentation was commendable, but this shows how far international cuisine has come!

I love these grand dames but nothing they make looks appetizing. Never mind--this series was a gift. I watched this when it first aired!

Clarissa asking the boy scouts to build a fire and Jennifer saying rub two boy scouts together and Clarissa telling her to hush. I loved them so much because they would say everything and anything!

I used to watch this series all the time on Food Network. I miss this series. RIP Jennifer and Clarissa.

Gotta love Jennifer thinking a mousse made with aspic (gelatin) and anchovies is suitable for vegetarians XD I'd expect nothing less!

I love them so much because they were so good at shade. Jennifer talking about how she hopes none of the kids have an allergy to cheese cause they all seem to have them these days. Clarissa without skipping a beat, "it's fashionable." 🤣

when cutting up chilli put a small amout of oil on the hand you are holding the chilli with - NOT the one you are holding the knife with. Then it is easier to wash the hot stuff off as the hot chemical is fat soluble.

My Mum used to watch these episodes religiously on PBS. She not a very good cook. Her oat meal looked like Roman Concrete...a spoon would stand straight up in it! Lol😅 My father always hoped that by watching a show like this, She would finally be able to prepare something edible.. 🤣🤣🤣
