Jennifer was such a character. And in this my beloved Great Uncle Anthony appears too. When he died, we were all standing around his grave, Bartletts love a good funeral for some reason, clutching handfuls of earth to toss onto the coffin beneath us to send him off. As we did this, Jennifer, clutching earth in one hand and evidently a small bottle of whisky in another, mistakenly threw the bottle down on top of his coffin. We all roared with laughter which drew some curious looks from another funeral that was taking place about 50 meters away. What they must have thought of us....
What a character Paterson never married. "I should have done it when I was 18," she said, "when I knew nothing of life".Summed up her great humour in life.
I miss both these ladies. Really adored them. Real "one-offs". They behaved together like two naughty overgrown (very) schoolgirls! Do wish they were still about!
I know, I miss them to, these 2 were such a hoot, not only did they give us a cooking lesson of Traditional England Cooking, but, they took you on field trip to a England Farm and, what ever was the main course for that meal or a particular food item and, the care that went into that item to make edible. On top of there sense of humor, there will never be another food show like it, I truly loved the sense of humor these 2 had.
Love it, just discovered the programme, couldn't stop laughing throughout, what a great sense of humour, a dying breed. R.I.P Jennifer, what a memorable and heartwarming character, bless her heart❤💜💎🎖🙏
I watched these ladies from the very beginning with my mom and my sister who have now both passed away but watching them again by myself brings back wonderful memories and I can imagine them still here watching with me.
I love these two ladies, I watch and rewatch all their episodes, and they never get old- always entertaining! It was a sad day when Jennifer passed from cancer. I wish that both ladies could have made more episodes! Rest In Peace, Jennifer and Clarissa, you birds are sorely missed!😊❤️💕🥂
There will never be one half as good to watch. So sorry Jennifer died so young but I do believed she packed more in her 71 years than most people would do in 200. Such fun.
I was a teen when I discovered, Two Fat Ladies. It was a real eye-opener for a young American who’d never been abroad. I’ve been enamored with Brits and British culture ever since. I did finally have the good fortune to spend quite a lot of time in England. Every American needs to watch all four series of their amazing show. It’s an especially wonderful escape during lockdown.
😂❤ SAME!!! I'm also American and I was in high school when the show came out. I used to watch it with my parents. We absolutely loved them both. I had forgotten about them until today and had a very happy memory unlocked 🔓
What a Amazing life she lead .... Such old customs and beliefs .... The mould was broken when they made her ..... I can’t believe it’s 21 years since she passed ... Sadly missed ..... She always made your day after you watched her so comical and Accentric
I love them. Cultivated, and having fun with rich cooking; delicate seasonings, but loads of fat, glorious humour and just what we lost these days...the simple joy of LIFE.
'Two Fat Ladies' is a wonderfully entertaining series; I adore both of these unique and amazing women. The cooking sometimes takes second place to their often sharp and hilarious quips and anecdotes. Having read Jennifer's biography and Clarissa's series of autobiographical books, these women were truly one-offs who lived life to the full - and their recipes actually worked! RIP Two Wonderful Women. 🌹🌹🌹
The gentleman was so spot on when he said that Jennifer would appear to be a failure but she truly wasn't. She enjoyed her life and she did it her way. She was strong and independent and had a good time while she was here.
Such brilliant, inspiring, and fascinating ladies! Very very few people are like that now days. Absolutely no one from Hollywood. You could see the goodness and life force radiate from them. God, I miss them.
She's from that era of British toffs who never seemed to have any real financial means of support but who nonetheless seemed to survive on their wit and social graces and small inheritances.
I started watching them when I was a kid with my Mom.. Been a Fan ever since... Thank goodness for film, I can continue to enjoy these awesome Gals! RIP you glorious Gals!!❤❤
Pure magic in the kitchen, food, a delight to watch being made giggles, songs, remembered instances in life, the repartee between them was hilarious, never missed an episode & still watch the repeats when I can find them, a great duo of mature schoolgirl jesters, miss them both....tried a couple of the very easy recipes & they were delicious
Totally fabulous, both of them were such characters and that style is just not seen on tv anymore and it should be. I must watch all their episodes again . Fantastic
My friend and I adore those 2 one of a kind "Dames" they are so interesting and with all of their banterings and stories there is always something interesting to listen to and their knowledge is never boring. Cooking programs are not that interesting but Jennifer and Clarissa make it a fun day in the kitchen. Miss them very much. Jennifer's greatest asset was her good memory and man that can get you so far in life, she was quick witted because she could remember so many little tidbits of information many people struggle just to remember what day it is let alone small talk and all of the small parts of all those old songs and poetry and such. she could have breezed through a script and I am wondering why she did not try harder to become an actress. Never the less we were so lucky to have known her.
Love! Thanks you for sharing!!!! Jennifer and Clarissa are missed... Much love from one skinny lady in the U.S. that adores delicious rich food!! Much love, Lisa
We'll love you both forever thank you for your humour, jokes advices, sympathy and simple wisdom for the life because life and even more the cuisine must be fun and exciting . how I miss them both
I absolutely loved these ladies. Both of them. I would also love to learn something about the life of dear Clarissa, while she is still with us. Amazing characters both.
I always loved watching Two Fat ladies late at night, well it was like 2 or 3am in the morning, they both had great sense of off the wall humor, they would just come out and say it. Not only that and being taught to prepare and cook Traditional England Food, then, they took us on a field trip to these different farms to a particular item they needed for that meal, there will never be another food show like it. I didn’t like it when, I missed there show for sure, then, when, Jennifer died,I was very saddened when, I could no longer watch their show. Here’s to the much happiness they brought into our lives, may they both rest in heavenly peace always, God bless!
Loved both of them, I was and still an envious of how they lived life being unaware of there pasts. You just could feel it coming through as you watched the cooking show. I still watch the old shows . Always seemed to live life well ,very well. Amazing woman. I feel im better just having gotten to watch them on tv. They must have had a great affect on people in person, and a positive one I would think. Well done ladys, well lived.
What a character, so bitter-sweet to watch as it came to an end all too soon. All though appearing strong and self sufficient, she must have felt very lonely deep down, but must have found comfort in her faith.
This brings back fond memories, from days past. No filters! I think it’s getting dusty in here now my eyes are watering Vaya con Dios to both. Thanks from.St. Paul Minnesota.
everybody has become so Elitist, so PC, these two were intelligent, talented and loads of fun… can't think of anyone remotely close to these two personalities… always loved the show. RIP ladies!
Exactly right! I can't watch anymore cooking shows here in America because everyone is so damned self-important to the point of boredom. If I'm going to watch a person stand over a stove for a half hour they had better have something witty and funny to say other than the obligatory "now let me show you the proper way". I miss these two girls and Graham Kerr too.
I define elitism as not being seen with anyone who you would not characterise as 'elite'. Pronounciation is something you acquire in youth and is difficult to change but being elitist is something you can decide to foster or not.
you are incorrect. advanced received pronunciation is taught at finishing school to try and reform their language to match those of the upper epsilons.
I just Love Jennifer Paterson. I don't know why, her outgoing personality, her beautiful smile, her wit. I just love her. I as always attracted to her. She was 60 and was 25. I fell in love with her.
Truly a person I would dearly have loved to meet, but probably wasn't much different from her on screen personality. Therefore I have met her and will cherish every moment of herself she gave.
Great team . Jennifer and Clarissa. I loved them . I used many of the recipes . Yum. And I as a proud Omnivore used to love the jokes about vegetarianism. I am sure they were often drunk.
She was divine!!! loved watching her.....so sad that she went well before her time but she had a wonderful funeral at the Brompton Oratory....I believe the funeral mass was in latin at her request?
Jennifer was such a character. And in this my beloved Great Uncle Anthony appears too. Wonderful! I needed that laugh today ...
Didn't he outlive Jennifer?
@@abalone7718 you are absolutely right. My mistake. It was at his brother Francis’ funeral! Good catch!

These ladies are still bringing joy to all of us.
I love watching these 2 shenanigans!!
I wonder what they'd say about the wokeism within the cookery world?
Still continuing to give joy - I'm certain I must have seen everything they did, but it's worth hoarding it all up for a Christmas binge! 🙂
What a character Paterson never married. "I should have done it when I was 18," she said, "when I knew nothing of life".Summed up her great humour in life.
These ladies were wonderful together and Jennifer was a real treasure.
I miss both these ladies. Really adored them. Real "one-offs". They behaved together like two naughty overgrown (very) schoolgirls! Do wish they were still about!
'One-offs' yeah.
No one else before or since
Deeelightful!!! I wish I could’ve cooked with them!

Me, too !!! But they did their thing, and thank God we had them with us, for a little while !!
I agree with you totally👍
Oh, and the fact that she referred to herself as the "spinster from Westminster" is hysterical. RIP Jennifer and Clarissa!!
Only this country could produce a lady of such eccentricity. Thank heavens!
I loved them immensely immediately
I cooked Thanksgiving dinner while watching this. I miss these women so much. They were absolute legends.
When Jennifer was sadly terminally ill, a friend rang her to ask her how she was fairing... to which her thunderous reply was: ‘Still dying!!!’
You can almost hear her saying that.
but aren’t we all
Love it, just discovered the programme, couldn't stop laughing throughout, what a great sense of humour, a dying breed. R.I.P Jennifer, what a memorable and heartwarming character, bless her heart❤💜💎🎖🙏
Such characters are becoming rare. Much missed.
I watched these ladies from the very beginning with my mom and my sister who have now both passed away but watching them again by myself brings back wonderful memories and I can imagine them still here watching with me.
Loved watching their show. Half the time I forgot what they were cooking, I'd be laughing so hard at their stories and jokes.
Robin Cassidy Yes!

Exactly!!!

Why should Americans watch?
@@mariahwhitneycelinejanetmadona they are funny in that English way which Americans usually don't understand.
I (also American) ended up visiting Mevagissey (England) because of this show.
😂❤ SAME!!! I'm also American and I was in high school when the show came out. I used to watch it with my parents. We absolutely loved them both. I had forgotten about them until today and had a very happy memory unlocked 🔓
I have loved this ahow for decades. As an American from Texas their dry Brtitsh sense of humor is absolutely hilariously perfect!❤🙌🏾🙌🏾
Love Jennifer, so full of life and never afraid to face it head on, in her own way! She was brilliant!! May she Rest In Peace.
What a Amazing life she lead .... Such old customs and beliefs .... The mould was broken when they made her ..... I can’t believe it’s 21 years since she passed ... Sadly missed ..... She always made your day after you watched her so comical and Accentric

Was hooked on Absolutely Fabulous....
Sweetie darling!? Sweetie darling?! Let Mommy in!!!
Debbie Taylor well it wasn’t in the 80’s and it wasn’t in the 00’s so when do you suggest it was broadcast??!!
Clarissa was in episode of AbFab.

She's iconic! And so happy to have found about her true Life.
Jennifer was quite the rolling stone of a person and she had a fab life....

What is a "toff"?
@@danielindiciani5005 An aristocrat.
Absolutely and they would always seem back then to be living in a really expensive area of London.

Adored them. Still do. They are a forever duo and loving aunties to those of us who yearn for family like these modern Mary Poppins.

I concur, these were my Favorite Chefs ! God Bless Them :)
Oh how we loved them. A wonderful life we knew nothing about as we watched her line pots with bacon!
They were both such larger than life in every which way possible & bloody awesome with it too.
Love her even more now

Jennifer in her poshest English voice "I remember baked potatoes on the front in Hastings". As a Brit I loved her saying that! Lol.

Jennifer was a remarkable woman in hindsight it could not always been easy for her a lot of times and she rose above it!
Very easy for some and it still is,but she was definitely a grafter who had to get on when she had to.
I didn't realise she was a Kensington girl, I am too. She was a little bit magic.
A LOT magic...
Best cooking show! ♥️💚♥️💜❤️🧡🇦🇺
I love that laughter about baked potatoes in Hastings
I wonder what caused the laughter. Am I missing something? What is funny about potatoes in Hastings?
The fact that it was in the year 1066 and Jennifer said she was there. LOL
And that potatoes hadn’t been introduced to England at the time :) such a character greatly missed
A valuable insight into a lost social world, besides the cooking.
