In this video I test the output power of the #Xiegu #X6100 QRP ham radio on both internal battery (fully charged) and on an external power source (power supply). Using a Power/SWR meter and a dummy load, we can gauge a fairly accurate reading of what the actual power output is. Is Shift the Offset ?
It is yes
Well done Mike, I watched many uploads on manually programming the UV5R, and this one is the best of them all in my opinion. The only question I have is, why the need to add the reverse frequency to the channel in your final step?
Much appreciated for the feedback. To be honest I've no idea anymore, been a very long time since this video was done and I've forgotten most as I use chirp more now :)
When I follow the directions for the chirp software on the spreadsheet, I have all of the frequencies and offsets set properly. When I go to upload it to the radio it uploads everything except the frequencies for every channel. All channels end up the same 145.470. (which is the first channel listed on the spreadsheet) Why will the frequencies from the spreadsheet not upload to the radio properly?
The freq end up being the same for each channel even though the downloaded spread sheet shows the correct freq and when I upload back to the radio, the freq on the uploaded spread sheets are correct. They just don't end up on the radio. It repeats the 1st freq for each channel programed in the radio.
The file you're using with the frequencies is for the radio you're trying to upload to? I can't say I've ever encountered this problem myself. My only guess is the file is for a different radio than what you may be trying to program. Each radio can differ slightly as it will upload radio settings than might not be compatible with the radio.
@ Thanks for the input. I'm not real techie, I am in my 70s, and I was looking at the frequency while in channel mode so of course it wasn't changing as I was changing channels in channel mode. Once I changed to freq mode the freq changed as I flipped though the channels while in freq mode. So there was no problem, just operator failure.......LOL. So I guess in young person vernacular.....MY BAD. Thanks
@@prepperboss I've done the exact same thing myself sir! haha. Enjoy the radio, all the best.

Thanks for this new vidéo Mike 👍👍 Best 73 from Normandy France 🇲🇫 Jacky 14FRS119
eBay calls it terms like "BNC to dual banana jack" or more precisely "BNC male to dual female banana jack." They're quite handy for creating the center connector for a dipole.
Im wanting to get this one but it's on Amazon as the uv-k5 (99) i primarily just want to use it as a scanner seeing as i live in a downtown area i really only want to know if there's any fires or police issues but it would also allow me to make sure that i can tell my fiancee if something happens out where she works
You could be better off actually buying a dedicated scanner for those.
This model you have is a very wake volum.... Other and same. Shape has a very strong volum. ✅✅✅✅✅❤️❤️
When unlocked, is it able to transmit on Aviation bands (not just listen)? 118-123.5 I'm a legitimate user (pilot) and I have a Yuasa for aviation, but it only does aviation bands and it would be convenient to have one radio that does it all.
I'm also courious about that. To have it as a backup emergency radio while doing crosscountry flights.
It seems to be entirely locked out from transmitting on the air band unfortunately.
Thanks for this video
What radio is this?
Inrico T320.
Thanks that helps me.
Great video really helpful thanks for making and sharing 🙂👍
Hi Mike can you get Sideband on this radio.
Hello Paul, no afraid not. FM and AM only. 73'
Great info. From Canada, stay safe and vigilant
I have a set of Baufeng UV-5R5. IT'S not programming same as yours as different keyboard set up.
Any idea how to transmit on cb channel 1. 026.965. I just get a beep in unlocked mode
You can't. It's a not designed to transmit on the CB bands.
@OntheMicwithMike thank you!
Would you knock out the factory setting s also is there anybody on those frequency s
You wouldn't no. It's perfectly fine to do it hence it's been built into in the firmware. As for anyone on there, that's down to conditions really, it's possible if the conditions are right.
@OntheMicwithMike thank you buddy
I put in channels many years ago and I seemed to remember just typing in the transmit freq without entering the offset. I tried that again and it would not work like that. Am I doing something wrong ?
how to scan?
To scan channels, while in channel memory mode hold down scan button for 4 seconds. Press Exit when you want to stop.
Thank You from Canada! VE6 RUM📡

@@OntheMicwithMike 446? Too
@@deenunya7735 PMR 446, license free radio. Only thing is this handheld even though you can tune in and listen legally, transmitting on 446mhz is illegal as this radio isn't type approved for it.
A very useful tutorial. I used this to help me programme my UV-K6; not exactly the same but I got the idea very quickly and my radio is now successfully programmed, complete with channel names. Thankyou.
Thank you for the kind feedback. Enjoy the radio! 73 all the best.
Love these videos, was having real problems downloading chirp…. but now I can put in repeaters etc no problems
Nice video. I operate a lot of FT8 and need the ACC port on the radio to plug in a digirig. This will prevent the tuner to be plugged in ! How to get around this problem ?
Connect the tuner to the radio, and then use the ACC-port on the tuner to the digirig. The tuner has two ACC-ports, so you can connect other equipment to the tuner instead of the radio.
Very helpful. Thank you for posting.
Thank You...73s
so much simpler than stepping through the manual... thank you!
Is there a better option today? Elecraft T1 or MAT10? Or does this still hold up? Cheers
I've long since sold this and the radio. There are better built-in options on QRP radios nowadays.
@OnTheMicwithMike I get you but nothing to date has passed the yeasu for the durability factor
Excellent. Thank you. An American TH-cam chap said it couldn't be programmed from on the unit. That's a relief, if a little clunky. I will probably get the programming lead, but always prefer to do it directly. It seems a lot to remember, but I have digital music workstations. This should be a doddle. 😅
Very helpful. Did all that but When I transmit I don't know if I've opened the repeater. Our local one dosn't respond by voice. But I'm not even getting the sound of the squelch opening.
does anyone know how can i pair baofeng bf-t3 my kids have with a baofeng bf-h7. i can't find the correct frequences
If within the UK, the BF-T3 should be 8 channels 1-8 on the PMR 446 frequencies. You just need the first 8 channels programmed into the BF-H7. But however, the BF-H7 isn't legal to use on 446MHz in the UK due to its power output and removable antenna.
@@OntheMicwithMike i am not in UK. i set BF-T3 on channel 1 and subchannel 1 for example and then i set the frequency on my BF-H7 from the table provided which is 462.5625 but there is no communication.
@@marcusbrown2881 Are you sure both radios have been programmed for the same frequencies? Sub channels are CTSS codes, so my guess is that what one radio may class as channel 1 (CTSS or sub channel) might differ from the other radio.
While the radio looks awesome, the programming looks really cumbersome. But, thank you for making this! I've "liked" it for reference later.
I ashamed to admit but I have trouble when I do read the manual ! Much nicer to read and watch a demonstration ! TNX
One hard radio to learn manual is useless!!
It sure is! :)
I have tried it with two yagi's (2M &70 CM ) and got a distant signal on saturday as there were more clear signals coming in on the HF on my FT950 but not on the RT95.. still no matter will press on. went and Bought a Colinear last night 200c Moonraker vertical I'll try that at Night as there are better signals later on in the evening here in the UK
Hi. Thank you for the video, just one issue, as soon as I press the PTT button I get "TX DISABLED", I tried all remedies I found on YT, but nothing helped. Any advice, please? Thank you. 73, M6VMO.
Just a quick thought, within Chirp (if it is where you programmed it) there can be with some radios a TX enable and disable option within the sidebar when you have downloaded info from the radio. Have a look there, as the box for TX enable might be unticked. Worth a look at least. 73'
