    I've wondered about this question for years. Thank you. The way older Call of Duty games look (2007-2010) vs modern Call of Duty games is staggering. Seeing enemies is very difficult in some modern games.

    But it works, go play arma or other military sim. When i first played arma i couldn't do anything because couldn't see enemies. Now i can sse them if they moving but not if they staying still.

    over pronounced and unrealistic phong/specular lighting is what ive hated since the early 2000s. i blame call of duty for this. its soo dumb to make people visible. why bother playing a game at all if you want auto aim to do all the work for you

    5:45 I like how he gave World at War as an example of older games making players more visible for free because of limitations, but that was literally the only COD game I ever played where you could actually use your camouflage to hide in the environment, especially as a sniper. I had so many players just walk by me in that game because I blended in with the environment.

      You were probably masking, not camoflaging. Masking is when you use terrain or foilage to break the line of sight. In WaW you could do this by sitting in dense bushes and creep forward until you found a small peephole to see through.

      @@ClassicCase No, I am talking about actual concealment through camouflage. Specifically the Japanese snipers, they had really good camouflage because their upper half looked like the foliage. It was good at breaking your silhouette and blending in with the surrounding foliage. I would just lean up against a wall or go prone in the grass and people would often walk by me. Also, the Soviet snipers in that game had good burlap camouflage which could hide you in the urban environment. It really was one of the few games where it was actually usable, all you had to do was find a good spot, try to keep your back towards the other player and remain stationary until they passed. I used to play on hardcore mode where your gamertag didn't show up as fast.

    That's an amazing plugin and a wonderful tutorial. How would you go about adding a driver to the vehicle? I want to be able to animate scenes from within the vehicle's cabin (with a moving background). Have you been able to integrate this with Iclone8 live link?

      Hmmm, Strangely I don't think i've made a single axle template. It's definitely possible, just no template exists yet. I'll see about getting one in for the next release. When you say a "regular single axle trailer" do you mean like a passenger vehicle box trailer?

    Hello there! It's been a minute since I used this plugin. What if I already have a vehicle in UE5 that I got from another project. It is all rigged and everything. I don't have a JSON file though. How do I use the existing vehicle? I can't see it in any of the dropdowns when I'm using the plugin.

      If it's already setup as a chaos vehicle you should be able to just skip to the training section and train it. If it's not appearing in any drop-downs, can you please email a few screenshots of the vehicle blueprint to support@gdcorner.com?

      Sorry, I'm not sure I understand? What do you mean by ground detection? Chaos vehicles have gravity and collision detection integrated. Are you able to send a screenshot or video of what you mean to support@gdcorner.com?

      The importer will merge meshes and allow you to utilize nanite and so on allowing for efficient assets if that's what you mean. As for the AI, it's good for cutscenes and cinematics but I wouldn't consider it a Game AI as it doesn't have features like collision avoidance and rubber banding/catch-up that you'd want in a game AI.

    Hey, good job on your tutorials but im having some issues. When i try to import the car in unreal it gives a skeletal_meshes error in the output log. I dont think ive missed any steps. Any idea on how i can fix this?

      Heya, my guess would be that your blender add-on and your unreal plugin are different versions. There was a format change in the export. In the latest versions. What version of rush hour are you using in unreal? You can try version 1.4.2 of the blender add-on which might fix it. But feel free to send the exported json and your unreal log from <project dir>/saved/logs to support@gdcorner.com and I'll have a closer look

    hi, what should I do if, after importing and configuring the physics of the car in ue5, the wheels fall into the ground and do not have a collision

      Heya, sounds like either the ground collision, or the vehicles physics asset isn't right. To check the physics asset see 8:53 in this video. If the wheel bodies in the physics asset look good then checkout the Player Collision visibility mode by clicking the Lit menu in the top left of the viewport and clicking Player Collision. This should allow you to visualise the collision of the scene. If it's still not working please email me at support@gdcorner.com and we'll get to the bottom of it.

      Hi, to make the car faster will be a matter of tuning the Vehicle Movement Component. You'll probably need to change the gear ratios and the max torque. For more information look up Chaos Vehicle tweaking guides

      Heya, Bikes, or 2 wheel vehicles in general are untested at this stage. Rush Hour sends driving inputs to Chaos Vehicles, but 2 wheeled vehicles have a balance factor that Rush Hour doesn't take into account.

      Hey, bikes aren't supported by the importer, and are untested for any custom chaos vehicles. There's a balance element for bikes that rush hour doesn't factor in. As for detailed suspension, chaos vehicles handles the suspension movement, but if you are referring to the visual elements of things like springs and things compressing, this is a per vehicle setup and isn't factored into the importer. It requires custom work in the animation blueprint and probably custom rigging too.

      Hey, sorry for the long response. My suggestion for this is generally to adjust your path, get the vehicle movement right, then record with take recorder. After it's in sequencer you can then attach your character via sequencer using normal sequencer animation tools. Hope that helps.

      Thanks for the feedback. It helps prioritise new features. At this stage blender is the supported toolkit as it's available to everyone, where as max, maya, c4d etc are only a subset. In the future with enough demand there may be additional addons created for other software.

    Hey How's it going. I have purchased your product and it's awesome. I do have some questions, you referenced a car on your description RACE CAR MZDRX7 (DRIVABLE). I checked it out and it's really good so I got it but now it seems that I can't use it in Rush Hour Animator. Everythime I press play it just satys stationery and oesn't move. Can I use it? Thanks

      Heya! I just setup a new project with that vehicle to check. There's a small bit of logic in the MZDRX7 blueprint that overrides the input controls. You need to bypass one node. Open BP_MRX_RACER, Open Event Tick. You can See Event Tick -> Sequence -> Then 0 -> Vehicle Inputs -> Camera Input. You need to drag from Then 0 straight to Camera input and bypass Vehicle Inputs and it will work. Hope this helps!

      @@rtz2985 Hey, great to hear your are looking for a deeper dive. I can't personally recommend any as I've been working with it for a while and just learn as I go these days. I've heard great things about Tom Loomans Unreal C++ course, but if you are looking for a wider/more generic c++ course I'm not too sure.

      @@GDCorner Thank you for the recommendation. One last question, I posted it on the questions tab on the product so an answer either here or there would be great. I have two poliece cars and I'm trying to do a police chase but the sirens won't animate with the trigger. They do work under the regular playgame but not during the rush hour animation. Anything I can do to make it work? Thank you

    whats d releven when the ai driving is always way off the spline tracks & needs to redo plenty of time consuming tweaks & adjusments, it'll b useless for cinematics bcoz when in films or cinematic who ever actors that didnt follow d exact orders or direction then thats a useless actors, .........theres this UEdev (Post Processed) he shown a far better precise way for vehicle cinematics using the camRigRail & ControlRig_BP plus with the wheels fizik response to the uneven grounds anim, check em out then u'll find that methods is just super cool & will get a 1:1 exact driving scenes u wanted...thats a wrap!

      Sorry you've had a bad experience. The AI driver should be quite accurate, as long as you've trained the vehicle. If you are having troubles feel free to reach out via support@gdcorner.com, or my discord. The nature of simulation does mean that you do need to do a bit of trial and error. This method is especially useful for physics interactions with other physics bodies which the control rig method can't respond the same way. Things like trailers and collisions. It also produces natural bodyroll without needing to keyframe every bit of body movement.

    Hey - followed the tutorial brilliantly until the last step of training my imported car and the wheels drop a couple of inches into the ground and sits there and spins. Have I done something stupid? !

    I KEEPGETTING PYTHON TRACEBACK ERRORS WHEN I TRY TO EXPORT PREPPED VEHICLE. HOW DO I CORRECT THIS?

      Heya, that's typically seen if you are using blender 4.0 which isn't supported at the moment. please try with Blender 3.6. if you keep getting the error please send me the error to support@gdcorner.com

      Hi, you can make a closed loop by selecting the Rush Hour Path in your scene outliner, then in the details panel search for "Closed Loop" under "Spline" and enable that.

      Hi, unfortunately full on drifting isn't supported as that is very dependent on exact car physics configuration. I demonstrate how to do car powerslides in the feature walkthrough video for 1.4 though.

    I love this tool for what it is trying to be. Once it can handle very basic, simple shots I will buy it. Unfortunately for me, I don't need epic race scenes or full city of traffic. Sometimes I just want to throw a car into the sequencer (using a spline to layout its performance) and render out a car doing real-life things like driving onto a driveway or parking in a parking lot. But the little nuances in the physics make this really hard to make convincing without tediously keyframing everything on a rig rail and there just currently isn't a tool that simplifies this.

      Hey thanks for the feedback. Interesting point. I believe rush hour is capable of these more basic and slow movements, but I don't really show them in videos as they aren't exciting. It's a great point though that needs to be demonstrated. I'll make sure to include some more basic driving maneuvers in the next video.

    can someone maybe answer this: I have been looking around for fbx files on these marketplaces but I can't seem to find out how to tell before downloading something if the FBX is just one singular model or if the wheels, doors, and body, and windows etc are separate elements. Am I missing a filter on these markets? Thanks... driving me nuts. I've downloaded three models in a row now that were just singular static meshes.

      Heya. Yeah, downloading models can be hit or miss finding one that is ready to go. Often you need to do a bit of clean up. You can split the meshes in Blender which doesn't take too long and will make it much easier to work with some downloaded models.     How to change vehicle size?

      Hi, Unfortunately scaling chaos vehicles isn't the easiest thing to do. The easiest approach is probably just to rescale in blender and re-import. If this is a vehicle that wasn't imported with the importer, I think you'll need to resize the Skeletal Mesh asset, and then each individual static mesh if you have them. You probably can't just do this within the Blueprint.

      Hello, apologies, i missed this message. Looks like you are using Blender 3.1. The currently supported versions are 3.3 and 3.6. I mainly target the current Long Term Support releases.

    Thank you so much! Super great tutorial and breakdown. One note to the author...the name "OnAmount" for the default emission value needs to be specific as in the tutorial. If not the dynamic braking will not work. Either a call out explaining that detail is important. Thank you!

    Awesome. Thanks you for the breakdown. My vehicle has brake calipers and I have placed them and any accompanying geo in the proper hierarchy in Blender. What do I assign them in the physics asset to support how they should work? They should stay with the week positionally but not rotate with the wheel.

      Heya, yeah occasionally Unreal creates physics bodies for the brake calipers which causes this. Sometimes it happens on some wheels but not others. Either way, the fix is pretty quick, you just need to delete those physics bodies.     Super excited to try this. Question for the author. Does the vehicle BP that is generated upon import to Unreal via Rush Hour keep the hierarchy that was set when it was imported in Blender as an obj/fbx? Or does Rush hour recreate the hierarchy? I have a vehicle that was prepped for the purpose of importing as a blueprint for animation and I'd like to keep the hierarchy, but think this is the best way to get realistic looking vehicle dynamics. Thank you!

      Heya. The blender addon will create a new hierarchy that almost matches the collections in the blender scene, but not quite. If you need a more specific hierarchy then you can either: A) export/import as normal with the rush hour workflow, and then selectively replace assets with your own, B) Create and setup a regular chaos vehicle.
