2025- I am definitely going to focus on finishes and descrapping, either by using them in quilts or giving them to new quilters in my life.
Great plan! It’s fun to share things 💕
@ I sent you a link on instagram for a tree paper piecing pattern … I hope that helps
I catalogued all my yarn, in yards though not grams. I’m going to do my own state of the stash this year. I’m pretty determined to knit down my stash. I’ll let you know how it goes! One of my goals for 2025 is to knit up all my leftovers (not including sock yarn scraps which will be going into a scrappy blanket). I want to have only full skeins in my stash at some point this year.
Those are great goals! I do like having scraps, you never know when they might be needed. That being said, they accumulate pretty fast. Do you have a project in mind for your scraps?
@@shaunastitches they're not really "scraps" more like partial skeins. So it will be multiple projects. Probably hats mostly.
Sleeping Beauty! 😂
I seriously couldn’t remember. My Disney knowledge is rusty.
Glad your finger is better and my nagging worked ❤ Man I am trying to get through book 3 of ACOTR and I am just over it. I don’t know if I’ll keep going. In 2025 I want to keep better track of what I make!
I’m so glad it’s getting better too! I appreciate the nagging. I do listen! I’m stil confused how it could be an infection but I’m glad I didn’t wait longer to get it checked out. I’m also not loving book 3. It’s felt like a slog so far which is a bummer because when I finished book 2 I was loving the story.
Glad your finger is getting better. I think I am getting tendonitis again and last time I had it I couldn’t knit for 6 months. Ugh.
Oh no 😥 I get tendonitis too but it’s mostly just crochet that aggravates it.
I read The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden - definitely has a twist
I will have to add that to my list! I love when I’m surprised by the outcome.
I would have bought even more Opal at $5 per skein! One of my 2025 goals is to knit 6 pairs of socks. Twelve pairs is my stretch goal. I want to have 25 FOs for 2025. I finished 23 in 2024 so it is doable, especially if I knit a lot of socks!
That is a very doable goal! Believe me, I used all the self control I could muster not to buy more.
2025-no yarn shopping & make a decent dent in my wips. I’m running out of needles and refuse to buy more
That’s what got me too, the needle shortage! Good luck with your goals!
The wheel is from Sleeping Beauty-Paisley
Thanks Paisley! I needed a Disney expert 💕
Lovely job! You doubled my output! Here’s to another great year of knitting
Thank you! Can we beat 2024? I think we can 💪🏻🧶🧦
$5 Opal... really I would have been right there with you buying it all up! You're doing great this year. Give yourself time to heal. You'll catch up in no time at all when you're back to 100%.
Thanks Karen! I am getting better which makes me panic a bit less. Of course my mind raced off to all the worst cast scenarios.
My 2025 goals are to revisit some of the garments that were not successful. figure out they didn't work out. I bought the patterns, and I still want the FO. I'm also going to organize and clean up my craft room after Christmas is all put away. Happy New Years
Those are great goals! I’m still trying to figure out how I want knitted garments to fit me. I think maybe recommended ease per the pattern may not give me what I want. It’s definitely trial and error. Good luck and Happy New Year to you too 🥳
I am not really making any 2025 goals. I just want to do things as they come.
I think there’s a lot of freedom with that! Sounds like a great no plan plan 🤣
:)
:)
I also found you through Lisa!! ❤
That’s awesome, welcome! I love watching her and seeing all the socks she makes. Very motivational.
I track my yarn in and out every year on a Ravelry project page and love doing it! ❤ Also love watching your podcast!! ❤ Hugs from Portugal!! 😘
Thank you for watching! I think there is so much to be learned from tracking your yarn usage. Whatever system works for you is the right one!
$5 Opal skeins! I would have bought a ton too! 😂
It was so hard not to buy more than I did. Probably a very good thing they were closed when I went there next day.
Great progress on your stash! Hope your finger is on the mend.
Thank you! My finger is getting so much better. Nearly pain free now and the swelling is down. Thank goodness. That was scary and painful.
I love watching all of your podcasts. I wouldn't have been able to resist a great sale either! Here's to a fabulous year of making and doing what brings you joy. Watching from New Zealand xxx
Thank you! I wish you all the joy this year too 🥳
Look at you uploading allll the videos! Love it! 😊 I've never tracked my yarn in/out but I've made myself a spreadsheet and 2025 is the year I will knit from stash!
I started my process just by tracking hours much I knit each month/year, then eventually added in hours much I was buying. It’s all very valuable data and can help you inform your decisions down the road. Nice job aiming to use stash this year 👏🏻
@shaunastitches I always do but you know how it is.... you see pretty yarn you want to buy it 😅🤩 this will keep me more accountable
Oh believe me I know how it is 🤣 we do our best and don’t beat ourselves up about it. This is our for fun hobby after all!
Up only 17 skeins, that amazing!!! Goal for 2025: KNIT WHAT BRINGS ME JOY!
Thanks! It could have been so much worse I know 🤣 I’m all about the joy 🥰
Girl. At those prices, it’s understandable. It’s such a bummer that they were closed when you went back for more! I wouldn’t call it a goal for 2024, but I had a desire to start working with more natural fibers like wool or alpaca. So I did acquire about 6-8 sweater quantities of the Eddie Bauer Woolpaca in DK & Worsted when it was on sale. And I hit Hobbii’s Black Friday sale and got 5 hanks of Unicorn solid. I look forward to working with these acquisitions in 2025!
I think working with more natural fibers is great! Those sweaters are going to be so wonderful. I have a feeling we’re going to make some awesome things this year 🥳
Love watching… my goals are to continue shopping my stash. I have the Halloween Freckled Whimsy subscription.. just 4 more months and then it’s finished.. if I’m honest I will purchase more yarn this year just trying to be more restrained…
I think it would be awfully hard not to being in at least a little yarn in a year. Moderation is a good way to go! Those Freckled Whimsy clubs are awfully tempting. Such pretty colors 😍
I am planning to begin a series just like this one on my channel too (hope you don't mind me using your idea ♥) I hope to have more stash go out of my home than what comes in.
Yay! The more the merrier. I’m so glad I could introduce an idea that resonates with you. I’ll definitely be watching!
Oh boy. It would be really hard to pass up $5 Opal! I just placed an order for some sale sock yarn myself.
I do love a good sale, it is hard to resist!
@ yes. I get that. The yarn I got on line was deeply discounted too. And of course I had to buy more than I needed so I could get the free shipping. 😂
@ Of course! I’ve definitely done that before. I’d rather buy more yarn than pay for shipping. I feel like I’m getting more for my money that way.
❤❤loving all ur blankets🎉🎉 Have two cozy memories,,,,on the go,,, Congratulations to lisa!!!🎉 Love all the socks and blankets, Happy new. Yest ELAINE 🏡💕
I’m so tempted to start a DK weight cozy memories but I’m not doing that until the fingering weight is done. I have so many scrappy blankets started, I can’t wait to finish at least one of them. Happy new year to you too 🥳
I love watching your podcast. I decided late 2024 that 2025 would be a stash only year for me - hopefully I’m up to the challenge 🙂
You can do it!!! It helps to have sort from people with similar goal too. Just remember, every little bit helps us get to our goal 👏🏻
Morning,, Shauna 🎉 Love those scrappy I style socks!!!!❤ And ur sweet Xmas decorations,,,, I couldn't have resisted the opal yarns either,, I hope to get some wips down this year,,,by Feb or March!!! Lots of socks ideas,,,, Elaine ❤️🏠 Hope ur finger feels better,,we really appreciate our hands when we can't use them,,,😮
Thank you! It is amazing how much I realized one little finger affected when it was hurting and not working right. It’s getting much better now, nearly back to normal! Such a relief.
I really want to work from stash this year. Perhaps keeping a stash journal of some kind will help? Not sure whether I would find it easier to just list skeins in/out, grams in/out? I'll have to have a think on it. 😊
Whatever you choose I have no doubt the data will be helpful to you in some way! Good luck with your stash journey 🤗
Hello! Thank you for sharing… lovely scrappy socks!!! Oh my! I found you thru Lisa of 72 stitches.. I’m glad! Happy New Year 🎉
Welcome and thanks for checking out my channel! Happy new year to you too 🥳
I’m glad to hear your finger is getting better. Random infections like that just suck! My 2025 goal is to re-organize and inventory my yarn and then focus on stash busting. I have 25 bins now. It’s getting kind of out of control. 🫣
You’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed. Just try to focus on one thing at a time and it’ll all fall into place, even if it’s not at the pace we wish it was. I’ve already been focusing on buying less for the last two years and it’s a slow journey. I’m so glad we can all support each other in our goals!
@ I’m also pretty sure my bf will kill me if I keep taking up all the storage space with yarn. 🤣
Knit him more things and maybe he’ll appreciate it more 🤣
@ I wish. He’s very Danish and warm all the time. He will be in a tshirt when I’m wearing a jacket and a wool scarf! 😆
Your Anthology throw is looking so good!! I use the same spin the wheel app for my projects - I have one just for socks, another for garments/accessories and another for books. I started using the app last year and love that it takes any "analysis paralysis" out of trying to decide what I will make or read.
Yes! Decision fatigue is a very real thing and when you can take those inconsequential decisions out of the process it makes everything so much easier. I’m really enjoying it!
Yay!! I won! I sent you a message on IG. 😂 I knit 90 pairs of socks in 2024! 🎉
Congratulations! You’re amazing with the socks. Are you trying for 91 this year? Because I fully believe you can do it!
@@shaunastitches We'll see! I don't have a goal in mind. Just knit all the socks!
I've had the same kind of infection as you had. It's really painful. It's lucky yours was relatively mild, as painful as it was. Mine was in several fingers and a thumb. It hurt so bad that I couldn't move my hand at all. Luckily I had a doctor that knew what it was right away. The antibiotics worked really quickly. The second time was more like yours, but I had a doctor that said there was no such thing as a bone infection without an injury and said it was gout. I had to go to a different doctor for antibiotics which again cleared it up quickly.
That’s so crazy! No idea what caused yours either? It doesn’t make sense but I’m glad they realized what it was, and also that I went when I did. If I had put it off longer I’m sure it would have gotten even worse.
@shaunastitches Yes, according to the first doctor I had, who actually knew what it was, it is quite serious and can go systemic. He said it could have been from the tiniest pin prick that you might not even have realized you had, and it didn't have to even be on the actual spot that the infection settled into because it is carried through the body by the blood. I did have an injury on the opposite hand, which he thought it might have come from. The doctor who thought I had gout (which it wasn't, as proven by bloodwork) said that the first doctor didn't know what he was talking about, and it wasn't possible for an infection to move through the body and settle in a different spot. It's amazing how fast it cleared up with antibiotics, though. I think I know which doctor didn't know what he was talking about. I have no lasting problems from my 2 times though. So hopefully you never have it again .
On knit picks website there is a free sock pattern for dream socks that uses one skein of Wonderfluff. I have made so many do these socks. Might be something you could use up your extra Wonderfluff for.
Happy New Year...don't forget to follow up your antibiotics with probiotics to bring your gut back...take good care!
Happy new year to you! I’ve been eating a ton of home made yogurt to try to help offset everything the antibiotics are killing off. I really try not to have to take antibiotics but I think it was the right choice this time.
You've got so many great finishes, but I think your melting pot sweater has got to be my favorite thing that you made. Imagine that for a fade advent...
I never even considered Melting Pot for an advent but that could be very cool! Thanks fire the idea 🤗
Oh my, I totally forgot about that mohair dying back in the day. You are almost done with the body and its just sleeves left, you will have it done in no time!
I sure hope so! It’s long overdue.
I love how you are choosing your DVD colors and WIPs to work on. One of my goals this year is to knit socks. It would be amazing if I could knit 12 pairs, but I’ll be happy if I knit 6. I also plan on finally doing my first brioche and steeking projects. I have a bin full of yarn set aside for the most of the 2025 projects on my list.
You have some great goals! I love brioche and have done some steeking before. It’s easier than it looks, but still a bit nerve wracking to cut a knit. I suggest knitting a small tube with the steek stitches added and then using that as a practice. I did that for my first one and it helped me be more confident without the risk of it being anything important.
@ I did that at a knitting retreat last year, which is why I feel better about doing it for real. It does help immensely to feel less anxious about cutting your knitting.
What a year for you!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for watching and following along throughout the year. It is quite amazing when you see everything all at once. I never would have thought it was this much in a year.
I love your Anthology Throw! The colors are gorgeous!
Thank you! It’s a beautiful fade and it might be the perfect project for the yarn 🤗
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too!
You started your mini blanket the month Linton was born and your souffle the day I had Elias. Probably while I was having him bc of the time difference we have, lol
Hahaha, what are the chances of that? Too funny.
You're inspiring! I'm going to knit the anthology throw because of you! Yours is so pretty so far. I'm hoping/planning to knit from stash this year. Although I am allowing myself to be in Knitty McPurly's sock club. I tend to see the new thing and want to cast on all the stuff. I'm really going to make myself think about it first before jumping in. I have so many lovely projects planned from the past couple of years. I hope to focus on them.
You are going to love the Anthology throw. It’s a fun and easy knit and I love adding in the next color. It makes you want to knit extra fast to get to the next one.
I’m loving your Incredible Blanket. I think that might be my next scrappy blanket. Your Anthology throw is going to be Amazing!
Thank you so much! The incredible blanket is really such a fun and satisfying knit. I hope you love it as much as I do!
Look at all those socks! Happy New Year! 🎉
Lots of socks….but nothing like some I’ve seen. I’m truly amazed at how much some people can get accomplished. I try to remember not to compare myself but sometimes it’s hard. Happy New Year to you too 🥳
Now I want to make a pair of Blueberry Waffle socks. Lol. Great FOs. Happy New Year!
It is a really great pattern and I highly recommend them. The fit is the best, so squishy too! Happy New Year to you too 🥳
Great recap. Happy New Year!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Happy New Year to you too 🥳
YAY! Lovely items knit in 2024, Shauna! Can't wait to see what you create in 2025! (And I hope your finger is feeling better....)
Thank you! I'm so glad you let me know about the issues in my first upload attempt. I really don't know what happened there. I'm excited about 2025 too. My hope is to finish a lot of old WIPs! My finger is slowly getting better. I'm impatient and would like it to be 100% already.
