Thank you so much for the kind words 🥰 I am of the mindset that there is always something new to learn. I don’t let techniques scare me (too much). The worst that will happen is that I have to rip out and restart.
James Herriot was a real vet in Scotland. There is a show on PBS every January based on the books it is excellent. All Creatures Great and Small, I think it’s on the fourth season? We love it.
Hi Shauna. I really like the music at the beginning!! I‘ve used the ladderback jacquard and it’s a good option. On a pair of mittens that I made, they pucker a little when off the hands. Maybe the small circumference pulls it in more. I also used it on a sweater and I don’t have that issue.
Thank you! I think you still have to be cautious about tension with ladder back jacquard. I know one of the options I saw for starting the ladder back stitches was a lifted increase and that said it was more particular about having the right tension or it could show. I haven’t experienced that with the backwards loop cast on, but I’m also being careful to make sure the floats are plenty loose.
Good to see you again! I knit heel flap and gusset on 9 inch circulars too! It makes knitting socks so seamless! I love the color of your DVD socks, I'm a sucker for purple. I love books that make you want to keep reading, they go so fast. I'm listening to a cheesy knitting murder mystery series by Peggy Ehrhart, they're fun to listen to while knitting.
I was always confused by the ladder back jacquard method. The way you described how you did it makes sense. I’ll have to check it out. I have been tempted to start knitting my Woolens and Nosh advent socks. I might also have to join you in doing the Resplendence Shawl with my advent. 😁
I totally recommend ladder back jacquard. I’m surprised it isn’t more prevalent. It’s not hard at all. I say cast on all the sock advents! I always fall behind when I wait for the 1st so I’m going for it. I’ll wait for my regular advents though. What yarn would you use for Resplendence?
Happy Anniversary! My husband and I are at the point where there is a high likelihood we will both forget our anniversary. To be fair, it is a few days before Christmas so it’s easy to forget in the busy run up to the big day. We usually remember once things calm down after Christmas. 😂
Thank you! Ours is right before his birthday and of course all the chaos of December. I think I might fit into my wedding dress again so I might try that on for fun 🤣
You’re smart. I don’t know if I have that much patience. I could just work on my two blankets. I don’t often rearrange but I do love the effect when I’ve seen other people do it.
I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with hypothyroidism too. Have you learned anything that helps you deal with the symptoms? My appointment is tomorrow. I’m optimistic but hopeful not overly so. I think if there was a magic cure I’d have heard about it by now.
I read all the James Herriot books many years ago (as a teenager) and LOVED them! The books are semi-autobiographical. The author (using a pen name) was a vet in real life and the stories are based on his experiences. I should re-read them some time!
How do you get so muck knitting done while working full time? The cat hat for your mom is just adorable. I need to find a color work project so that one is going on my list!
I get a lot done because I get up early enough to do some knitting before work and I manage to squeeze a bit in before bed too. Then on the weekends it’s knit, knit, knit!!!
I hope your endocrinologist is a good one, I got lucky. I'm sorry you had to wait so long. I will tell you, it took about 6 months for the diet I'm on for inflammation to really help. Maybe a little less. I absolutely never ever cheat. I only eat grass fed meat. No cheese, no dairy at all. No sugar gluten. I have to take thyroid medication. No thyroid.
Always great to see you. You are such a prolific knitter!

I can imagine it makes for an interesting tv series. I appreciate what sounds like a simpler time. Thanks for letting me know he was a real vet!
Thank you for keeping my company while I render lard.
That sounds like a task you might need company for!
All the ugly and wonderful things is sooooo good!!! I loved that book
I finished it last night. So good but also so bad. That makes no sense. It definitely causes some conflicted feelings but I really enjoyed reading it!
@shaunastitches yes exactly
You have sold me on giving ladder-back jacquard a try. Hope you had a very happy 5th anniversary. 🎉
It was nice and relaxing, thank you! Ladder back jacquard is definitely worth giving a try.

I love a good mystery too! Trying to figure out who did it makes for a good page turner.

I have the Legacy Fiber Artz advent. They’re 20g minis.
@dmbrown240 that would be perfect! I plan on just repeating my colors but maybe doing them in a different order the second and third time through.

For my Resplendence shawl, I’m going to wait to cast on until I opened all the colors. Then I will rearrange them if needed.

I’ve been behind but just caught up on your podcast. I really enjoyed watching the mystery shawl series. I too have hypothyroidism 😕

I can’t even imagine all the stories he didn’t write in those books. So many, so interesting. I’ll read the next one eventually!
@@shaunastitches I bet he had a lot that did not make the cut into the books!
I wonder if the ladder back jacquard would work on socks? I have trouble making the colorwork on socks stretchy enough.
I think it would work. Thinking about it I can’t see why it wouldn’t.
Have you read any of the Freida McFadden books? The House maid series is very good. You won't be able to put them down.
I haven’t but I’ll add them to my list! Thank you for the recommendation 🤗

@@shaunastitches You must be getting up like 5 hours before you have to be to work to get that much knitting done! Oh, and happy anniversary!
@@Bobbleheadknits I get maybe 45 minutes to an hour. For the MKAL I got up a bit earlier and was able to knit for about 1 1/2 hours before work.
Thanks so much for sharing your projects. Which yarn did you get to dye?
It’s called My Name is Neo from Wool2Dye4. www.wool2dye4.com/my-name-is-neo-set-of-10-skeins-clone-.html

I’m willing to be patient if it takes that long. I’m very curious to hear what she has to say. I still have a thyroid, it’s just under active.
:)
