Gringo Walking Around Mexico City at Night │ FPOV Vlog │ SAFETY
in this video, I’ll take you on a night time walking tour of La Roma Norte, and a lesser desirable part of the Doctores neighborhood bordering on the Buenos Aires neighborhood. We’ll explore multiple parks and plazas and you can determine for yourself which areas look safe, and which you would avoid while walking around Mexico City at night. You’ll see just how quickly one can go from posh clubs and clean streets, to heaps of trash, street rats, and homeless camps in parks… in just a few blocks.

    I don't get your comparison with Greece; for starters, Athens is a dump; sorry, but someone has to say it. As for Mykonos and any other islands, that's like comparing an apple with a banana. BTW, many people get fixated with Polanco, but let me tell ya, there are plenty of even nicer neighbourhoods around Mexico City. Some that come to mind are Bosques, Pedregal, Palmas, La Florida, Santa Fe, Chimalistac, Tecamachalco, some pockets of San Jeronimo & Las Aguilas, and I'm sure I'm forgetting many more.

    I have gone 10 years without a robbery and I live in the suburbs. At the Corona Capital concert I walked so drunk maybe 5 km to catch a bus and nothing happened. Of course, it was also luck.

      Glad to hear you made it safely on the drunken walk 😬😜. Luck always comes into play and a little common sense for sure. The area where I finished the video IS ACTUALLY CONSIDERED UNSAFE BY LOCALS, according to my Uber driver. Walking around there alone, foreign, and with a camera out was a little risky. CDMX is beautiful, but my point was to illustrate that things can change quickly from barrio to barrio I.e. La Roma to Doctores, Doctores to Buenos Aires. Thanks for watching!

    I'm glad you made this video. I could tell a difference in Mexico City about 2 years ago. It slowly started and now it's in your face and they don't care if you know how they feel. I was living in Roma and the locals started being not so friendly AND the visitors were getting extremely rude too. Things got so bad I moved and I plan on moving again further south away from all of it. Central Mexico City is terrible now, in my opinion... between the locals and visitors. People who are just visitors wouldn't have a clue what's going on. But if you live here, you know....and the signs (go home gringos) all over the city should be your first warning. Small things as not being waited on for a long time, people staring at you with a mean expression, drivers blaring their horn at you when you're walking across the street on a red light, or as simple as saying they are closed even though you know they aren't. All of these have happened to me more recently. At first i thought they were all coincidences, but unfortunately they weren't. I have found out though, if you go to the outskirts of the city you won't experience the same hatred, for now at least. But they have large groups of protesters here that target visitors just like they have in Barcelona. And Barcelona is getting worse at it, and i expect CDMX will also. Personally, I only go to businesses that i personally know won't discriminate. If you're moving here just know it's not like visiting here, so find a place outside of the main/central areas in the city or you'll have to be on guard. If things get worse, I'll be moving outside Mexico City. It has been an eyeopener for sure. Like TH-camr"nomad capitalist" says....go where you are treated best, and that's what I will do.😁

    • @theropemonster
      @theropemonster 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Excellent comment my friend! I often think of Andrew at Nomad Capitalist as well when searching for my long term home and ask myself that same question: “is this where I’m being treated best”? The answer was a hard NO in La Roma. I’m respectful, speak the language, know the history and culture, have manners, and was still treated terribly on a regular basis. When I just pop over and visit it’s a different story. I think there are better neighborhoods where that doesn’t happen so much… but for how long is the real question. Racism is racism and people who back that behavior are just supporting blatant racism. The comment I loathe the most “recuerdas que no estás en tu país!” Imagine If I said that to a Mexican in the US?! It wouldn’t go over well! I would never dream of saying anything so ignorant. Thanks for checking out the video, and I hope you find your place!!

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @theropemonster Thank you for responding. I've been here for 7 years and I'm certainly dissapointed in the recent behavior of many of the locals. I'm extremely considerate of the locals, to the point I try to stand on the metro and buses to provide them a seat. And one last thing, it doesn't even matter if you're staying in a hotel, they just don't want foreigners here. I've spent the last two weeks on a staycation in Mexico City away from my regular accomodation here and even the hotel staff except a few are rude. So they don't care about where we stay, they just don't want us here, unfortunately. Wishing you a more positive stay in Mexico City or elsewhere in Mexico.

I've visited Montterry, Cancun, Reynosa, Matamoros, Playa Del Carmen, Holbox and I have never had any issues. The people of Mexico are beyond caring and sweet. But like everything, every city has it's good areas and bad areas just like in Europe or the USA/Canada. People visiting Mexico literally need to use common sense to avoid areas that may "feel unsafe".
