Welcome to my Channel. I enjoy the outdoor life, woodland management and Wild Camping, whilst practising Bushcraft and Fieldcraft. My aim is to document my trips and film the wildlife I encounter. I will show any new equipment which I buy and I feel is worth a recommendation. Cheers, Steve.

Easy Bake Bread on a Camp Fire - Bushcraft
มุมมอง 3923 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a longer version of my previous video, showing more detail of how to bake bread on a camp fire. I find this technique the quickest and easiest way to make bread whilst camping. RECIPE 400g All Purpose flour 1/2 TSP Baking Powder 1/4 TSP Salt 1/2 TSP Sugar 50ml Milk 50ml Butter (melted) 150ml Water (Mix and knead together)
A Lazy Evening Walk 4K

A walk around one of my favourite places at the moment. Brockadale is a nature reserve owned by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, a valley of limestone rock, with a little stream running through it. This creates a perfect area for wild flowers and birds. Thanks for watching, Steve.

A worrying sight. A sign of poaching?
มุมมอง 6819 หลายเดือนก่อน
You couldn't tell from my previous video, but the male had something stuck in its head? Only when zoomed in, could you see something in its head? Luckily I took some still images. It looks like an arrow? Is it a sign of poaching?

Youtube Shorts & my thoughts on youtube.
มุมมอง 35511 หลายเดือนก่อน
I'm trying to create TH-cam shorts. TH-cam is encouraging channels to produce Shorts. it's not as easy as I first thought. I like to edit my videos, but at the moment I'm not been able to do this very well! I will keep trying. I use iMovie, and it's not great for Shorts. What editing software does everyone else use? Thanks, Steve.

And multi use!! cheers always a good time in your woodland Ladders are dangerous youtube is full of ladder fails got that right !! Greets
Hey Bushcraft Friend, I loved the informative nature following the building of the oven, but the music...sorry, it was repetitive, in certain instances made the accompanying video a little comical and it was darn annoying. Once I knew you weren't talking, I muted the video entirely. I would rather have listened to you digging, hauling rocks etc. with the accompaniment of the forest sounds around you. Hopefully constructive critique, from an avid bushcraft video viewer. That said, the oven looks great and I'll try it next time I'm out, so I certainly got some great demo advice here. Best regards, Another Bushcrafter. :}
Great little video. Thank you for sharing your little haven with us all 😊
Great video Steve, good to see you back and getting out, atb Steve
Brilliant idea 💡
Nope not gonna get a hot pot of boiling water dumped on me thanks.
Haha. It was surprisingly stable, I hope I will be safe when using it. Cheers.
I always enjoy your calm vids..thankyou
Glad you like them! Steve.
Nice one Steve, great idea. I've got a couple of those bellows and never thought of using them as fire irons. I tried doing a similar thing before with a couple of stainless steel rulers and that worked quite well, but they lacked the versatility of your bellows. 👍
I think you and I think a like. I like the bellows, great when the fire is not taking well. I like things with a duo use. Cheers, Steve.
Great film! I love these short videos. well done on your work...
Thanks. Steve.
I guess it's your land you claimed it and paid for it. anything else on that land it doesn't have any rights😢😢
I do own the land and manage it with a woodland management plan put together by myself and the Woodland Trust. I do take fire wood as a by by-product of tree thinning and felling of some dead trees. I have a lot of dying Ash trees most I leave as dead standing. Thanks for watching and commenting. Steve.
I’m not sure I understand your comment. Steve cares for that land and all the trees, plants and animals on it. His videos and photographs share its beauty with many people and in the process his work will encourage others to protect the natural world.
The tree fell quite nicely, and some gorgeous fire wood was a good reward. All the best from California.
@@Stevo_Drums Thanks. Now the hard work of cutting it all up. Steve.
Thank you for this new video! Greetings from Hamburg/Germany, Dietmar, DL4HAO :)
Thank you too. Steve.
Ah what a treat. A video of yours is always a good surprise
Thanks, and thanks for watching. Steve.
Hi all. Experimenting with a new pot holder. I think we have to keep trying new things and sharing these ideas, good or daft. Thanks for watching. 😂
excellent....just needed some baked beans 😅🤣
Yes you are right, beans were missing. Cheese, Steve.
You are lucky , the land is flat and you haven’t got total ash die back killing all your trees. Mine is devastated by the disease and they are falling before I get to them. Brambles taking over and stopping me clearing them.
@@GWAYGWAY1 Ash die back is getting bad here also, I'm felling the ones near paths, and leaving the rest. I will be replanting with new species in the spring.
Very good. For your English viewers, is all purpose flour, plain flour or self-raising flour? Al
I always enjoy your videos
Good to see you back 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Watched both versions. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us. Stay safe and stay warm
I enjoyed both versions of this video. A mix of silent ones and talking ones is perfect. Many thanks 😊
Perfect blend of rich flavours: wild life - smooth editing - pinch of banter - hint of gearwhore wow, man you did get a lot in the camera that time cheers, thanks for sharing your nice campout
Thanks for the nice video. 👍
we like really long videos from you anyway
a welcome break from today's utter madness. Your videos always help me unwind from a stressful day at my farm.
Very nice Steve , little bit of heaven , thanks for sharing regards Mick
Thanks Steve . Just lovely . So well filmed . Always an eye for a great shot ! Always great to see barn owls hunting !
That’s a stonking good video Steve. Leading lines, framing and depth of field showing off the beauty of nature. Topped off with a gorgeous barn owl and moon. Brilliant 🙏
Beautifully filmed Steve. Despite the madness in the world of man nature just continues keeping on :)
Lovely to get footage of a barn owl! Great vid Steve 👍
Nice one. Not too far from where I used to live in Kinsley
Hi. Great video. Looks very peaceful . What brand of Bivi bag do you use . I am in NZ but have an account in the UK . Seems the UK camping gear is pretty good. Cheers. Tony
Hi Tony. It's a Rab Ascent Bivi. I may go for the Ridge Raider as it has hoops to keep it off your face, but is a lot heavier, and kind of defeats the object of weight saving. But would be better when it rains. Where in NZ are you? Thanks for watching, Steve.
Riches you found and shared ! Thank you 🙏🏼
@@sunshine-nu1df Thanks for watching. Steve.
Lovely landscape, nice shots :)
@@Bezstopy Thanks. Steve.
Nice vid loved the wildlife ATB
@@wildyorkieoutdoors7271 I was surprised how little bird life there was up there, other years the hills are full of birds. It must be the wet spring we had. Thanks. Steve.
Lovely video, great wildlife and relaxing style.
@@nightwolf1592 Thanks. Steve.
Great to see you in the hills Steve. Looked like a small pack that. Hope you’re well ⛺️
@@Thebluedocful Thanks. It's been a while. I forgot how nice the dales are. Cheers, Steve.
Nice m8 👍
@@ianroughley1933 Thanks Ian.
Great stuff Steve , captured some good nature footage on this one and a decent bivi camp too 👍
@@BorderRambler Thanks. Bivvy bags do mean lighter weights, but I do like the better outdoor experience they offer, even if it rains! Cheers, Steve.
Another good camp Steve , can’t beat a bivvy 😂
@@hackneeey While the weather is good, I will always choose a bivvy. Even if it unexpectedly rains like it did on this occasion. Thanks, Steve.
Good stuff!
@@bivvybagger5760 Thanks, I love using the bivvy, even if it's raining. Steve.
Nice outing - what a spot! Bonus barn owl too ha. Atb Andy
@@WoodyAndy It's the only place I've seen barn owls hunting all day? Thanks for watching. Steve.
@@craftywildcamps fantastic!
Great video, informative and enlightening, you have a very pleasant voice which makes the video very good to watch. Brazilian greetings.
Enjoying your calm content
Lovely time out, Its nice to enjoy nature in video, food and sounds :)
I really like the way that Helikon-Tek does there stuff. You can mix and match so many of their products to customize and get your pack setup exactly how you like or need. Good video Sir, thank you. Subscription earned on this one!
I agree, it's some clever kit. Thanks for watching. Steve.
So your eating how many grams of nettles2 get how much protein????
They say nettles have 20% protein, 40% when dried. Thanks for watching. Steve.
Lovely camp Steve , you’ve got everything sorted nicely with that bag set up ,nice pictures of the Nothern lights too all the best Mick
The Northern Lights were amazing to see. Did you catch them? Thanks for watching. Steve.
@@craftywildcamps No unfortunately I live inside the M25 so too much light pollution to see them on Friday I camped on the North Downs on Saturday as they said they’d be visible again to no avail . Next year I’m going to Finland so you never know
I couldn't agree more about the use of external pouches to organise your gear. As always your videography looks beautiful, your shot composition is exemplary. Thanks for sharing Steve. 👍
At last i can get organised. Thanks for watching. Steve.
Great rucksack setup. What beautiful photography, stunning 😊
