I imagine the last guy said, compressor isn't running, it's low on gas, So you need a new system and here's the bid...
@@throttlebottle5906 That and here’s a price for a service contract… see you in 6 months.
plastic fantastic and chrysler doing it's usual thing. you're lucky it lasted as long as it did....
Failure is built into design these days , of course warranty ran out 6 months ago
"hey where do you want the control box", ""oh I don't know put it over there up high so it doesn't get hit or smashed with anything"". 🤣🤣
🏀 yep, They play ball in there
Will it detect a leak on copper tubing, example: I just brazed into a unit and my gauges are detecting a leak, could this thing find it for me?
I have had good experiences detecting r410a and r22 leaks, double check your hose seals and valve seals are not the leak source as well
Word of advice.....you really have to set fan correctly with those microchannel evaps. They will drip water into the space if it was a vertical config. With this being horizontal, you still will get water in the evap section if not set correctly.
Thanks for the advice 👍
@subcoolHVAC you do great work brother. Love the channel.
I appreciate that 👊
I have that same unit at a facility, we have changed the ECM motor twice in 9 years. You need to remove the top, get a ladder and spend a ton of money to get that motor. Worst thing Trane has done
@@brushben22 I fully expect that since one of the items listed in IOM is supply fan failure if not up to 30rpm within 40sec it shutdown.
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Thanks Zekenzy !
From all brands Trane labels and schematics are the worst, most will fade out in the first year. Nice vid by the way 👍
Yep, the schematic is the mercy of a ziplock bag on the inside panel.
Nice simple little unit. Got to enjoy thise days
Yeah, grateful for low stress day 👍
Wooo, those are expensive Trane 8.5 Ton Precedent Package Unit, the ones I can easily find are around $11,600 plus shipping. At that price they better last a lifetime.
@@davidnull5590 Yeah, that’s a good estimate. Is 10 years asking too much 😉
Absolute trash. God speed my man.

Nice work Subcool.
Thank you Steven !
Nicely done, thanks Subcool.
Thanks Steve, I Appreciate the feedback!
I'm installing a 7.5T split where I work now. Didn't know you had to have an option module just to use the strips. They didn't say anything when we got the quote. With Reliatel, all you ever had to do was cut the jumper to enable them.
@@topher8634 yeah, I had to remove the jump and install on P4 and from P5 to the OA module P5. First time dealing with Symbio but from what the Installation sheet looks like what they want.
Symbio is the epitome of overly complicated controls & poor QC. Haven't had a single startup that didn't have a factory issue.
@Jeremy-gt8xf I fully expect some type of issue , might be installer error on my part 😂
Both compressor are deference 1 is big than other why ?
There probably different stages, or one is a compressor and one is a receiver.
2 stages
If I remember correctly, one compressor is about 1/3 of the cooling (maybe a little bit more); the other compressor is about 2/3 of the cooling.
do the 454b regs go with commercail applications ???
Residential/light commercial Any manufactured after January 1, 2025 will be A2L, dealers can sell r410a units mfg prior still . Trane will use r454b from what I understand
Yessir 454B with RDS mitigation
Good video)
Thanks Victor 👊
First mistake was buying a dodge. Second mistake was keeping it. Don't make a 3rd😂
Guilty 😂 although ROI wasn’t bad for 5yrs
@subcoolHVAC Don't feel to bad, I have a LML duramax that has nearly bankrupted me with emissions parts. I'm in so deep I just can't sell it
@PorkChopAChunky Thanks, I feel better.
Oh no!
Exactly 👍
Nice to know we have a mechanic in the family
Absolutely 👍

Oh yeah, I saw that. Will give it a try. Thanks 👊
The oil cooler on those Pentastars are notorious for failure. Usually fail around 50K. Also the water drainage is an issue on the Pro masters and Ford's Transit vans. Usually end up shorting the coils out.
Thanks for the info , got that leak sealed 🤞
You have gorgeous eyes! That was nice that your son helped and you didn't try and drive your van without oil! THAT would have been a disaster! I really like your videos. Great content and good detail! Thank you.

@@ccthepope Thank you for watching!
Nice work Subcool, thank you for the knowledge.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oops, commented too early. But still, a head's up: Most drives have a parameter setting that electrically reverses the motor. It allows a lazy installer to reverse rotation without swapping motor wires. It is usually disabled by default. An extensive power down, faulty memory keep alive supercap/battery, or power surge can toggle that parameter when the drive is powered back up. Another thing that causes that is static electricity, which could have happened when you blew the drive out in the truck. Early versions of some Damnfussy drives were prone to that and defaulting to full factory parameters.
@@mxslick50 yep, in this case the drive operated when bypass selected on front panel and bypass when drive selected.,
Damn! Yesterday I quoted an OEM indoor blower motor on a Lennox RTU, 3 phase 460v 2hp… at cost was over $1,000. And I thought THAT was ridiculous. What kind of unit is that? Never seen one of those before.
That sounds right these days, this is an Addison RTU… out of Orlando, FL
Was it $2800 for just the sensor or both sensor and interface?
Unfortunately just the sensor alone, the interface cost more. With the help of a subscriber we’ve been able to find replacement sensors at better cost since this order.
Hey have you had any trouble with the Bitzer scrolls ? We've had tons of compressor failures with them .
Not yet, what type of failure are you having?
@subcoolHVAC grounded windings and black oil ! They've had a very bad series of them in my opinion . They've supposedly corrected the issue but I'm sceptical because I've heard of other failures even with the supposed "good" ones ...
Thanks for the heads up, will make sure to go through all electrical connections . We do get a good amount of surges and momentary outages , especially with Thunderstorms
Curious to your thoughts on Addison RTU? I still prefer Aaon with Prism.
So far not impressed with Addison, although I don’t have any Aaon systems in my area. Prism seems like the better interface
It's supposed to go on North side to keep it out of direct sun. Direct sun on OA sensors affects sensor accuracy. Needs to be in a shaded place at all times. I Like your solution though, easy adjustment. Commissioning should have caught that.
@@HVACTIME Yep, the other 2 at this site face West 😂
Holden your right. Good job on your chiller academy.
Nice work as always Subcool.
Thanks Steven 👊
Awfully nice unit for a kitchen lol. Thanks for the video sc
Yeah , its a bit overkill . Thanks Eric 👍
Addison and aaon must be cousins
It looks that way 😀
Thanks ThumperKJFK !

The funny part is the alarm happened when the site was unoccupied… running fine today 😀
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year 2025
Happy New Year, Thanks for Watching!
Shouldn't there be a check valve somewhere in the line to keep all the water from draining back to the tower sump when the pump shuts down? (Or if there is one, it's failed.) The scenario I see here is, pump shuts down, water flows back to tower, tower overflows, some genius at the facility sees the over flow and adjusts the float trying to stop the overflow. Side note: I did a lot of work on BacNet for Trane. Mainly at hospitals and other medical facilities. At one facility I had to, under Trane's direction, do an initial startup of a very large RTU. The one thing that was a real pucker factor was adjusting the blower drives, with the warning that if I overspeed the supply side I could literally explode the ductwork. 😮 And at the last one I did (with water chillers) we had to literally field rewire an air handler where supply and return sides were decoupled from inline to side by side (someone screwed up on the basement plans.) That was a nighmare to fix.
Yeah there’s a check valve and it is working, it’s just a funky piping setup .. all good for now as long as it stays in auto
Nice....always fun when people just start pushing buttons without either the knowledge or leaving a note. Does those tower(s) have a bypass? That loop was air locked pretty good.
Everyday is entertaining here, there’s no bypass… it’s all good today
I wonder how long before the new fan will fall off. Gotta love all the new "efficient" engineering and design.
Hopefully longer than 3yrs , I did coat the shaft end and clip with rust oleum afterwards
