Triumph TR2 1954: Front fender repair
มุมมอง 8K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here I make a repair panel for the front fender of a Triumph TR2. I shape the panel on the sand bag, and use the stump to make an easy shrink. Then I smooth the surface and fine fit the panel with the english wheel and the Eckold. My Colleague Sebastien gas weld it with no filler rod, so the weld is soft, tender, easy to stretch back with no crack, invisible, and is also period correct to the car.

top ! il faudrait que tu nous partage les outils avec les quels tu fais ca. on pourrait peut etre les trouver a la loc. top! it would be nice that you share with us the tools with which you do that. we might know what to rent, in order to learn how to do like you Master (!). Merci ;-) thank you.
Very good work Amazing skills Congratulations team
True piece of art!!!!!!
Thanks a lot for watching my videos
Craftsmanship at it's finest !
I was impressed before he put the swage line in unbelievable
What kind of torch are you using? Can you recommend any specific brand? You are doing a great job, I don't hide the fact that SLG inspired me to start working as a coach builder👍
👍
Good 👍😎
Glue some foam rubber tubing on the adjuster rods on the English wheel ?
I dont understand exactly
@@slgclassiccars4098 Put some padding on those rods that you use your lower leg to adjust the tension on the roller.
@@truthboomertruthbomber5125 haa ok, good idea ;-)
Nice job. Why you don't use Eckold for shaping? It will save your shoulder and arms.
I had no Eckold at this time (last year). It's much faster and easier now that I have an Eckold kraftformer
Easier to use the Midget/Sprite piece for under the tail light. Then all you need to make is a lower rear valance (simple curved panel quickly formed on an English Wheel) to join the two sides.
yes it could also be an option probably
Wow!!!
@@neilrobertson72 🤜🤛 thanks
Lovely piece of work.

Quel superbe travail ! Techniquement, c'est un régal de vous voir faire, et esthétiquement l'auto sera splendide.
that makes such a difference , great job

Super job! Showing how to make floorpanels with only basic tools + a (small) english wheel is very appreciated for many hobbyists
very nice...what gauge is the metal your using?
@@binnybuzz gauge 18, 1mm thick
Fast worker.
I think this was filmed in France? - Nevertheless just the individual labour charge for that skilled panel- beater would have been something like £500 per day over a week’s period I would estimate.
@@philtucker1224 hello. I'm from Belgium and we charge between 62 and 70€/h. This work here is about 3 days of work.
@ Nice work SLG, you’ve certainly made a lovely job of that arch! Yes you labour charges are similar to the U.K. The project looks like about 3 months work, would that be accurate?
Absolutely stunning work

Great skill, I've seen some arch extensions made...but that crease across the bulge really takes the biscuit!! (Stuart Graham)
Amazing that you have made these arches from steel, amazing work and AMAZING to see two young people beating and rolling metal, well done on all fronts.
That's really impressive work but it looks like crap on the car.

Impressionnant!
Cool.
I will never understand, how it is possible to make both sides of the car equal with this method
With a flexible shape pattern. Take a look at this video: th-cam.com/video/JuYgQ2PUHAA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WwQsTizLEFl0V0xt . This soft pattern is reversible, so you can use it for symetrical parts. Check also my facebook and instragram chanel, there are some exemples If you don't fully understand... well, let me say you that it's a trade ;-).
Here's a video where you can see how I use a flexible shape pattern to make a symmetrical part. th-cam.com/video/wjj7WMoK-5U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4fBfhfbwEv_j2SJf

thank you very much. I like when it seems to be simple ;-)
Undoubtedly, but, definitely, this is a unique MG ,like no other.
Incredible craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing, I learnt a lot.
Back in the early seventies, I worked at the British Leyland Dealership and we had those two 'works' MGC/GTs in our showroom for several weeks. They looked and sounded great. I had an MGC at the time.
Impressive but with all that hand work it's gotta be expensive. Been dreaming for more than 10 years that someone, somewhere would make some stamping dies to mass produce these things for front and rear fenders. I know, sheet metal stamping dies are expensive too, but someone in India, China, or someplace else should be able to do it cheaply enough to make a profit. I'd pay $3000-4000 USD for a set of steel flares of the proper looking shape. Edit: some internet search shows Porsche 914-GT steel flares can be had for about $1500-2500 USD per set of four. I've got to believe there are more MGB owners wanting to add flares than 914 owners! The biggest problem with average MGB owners is that they are insanely cheap!
What a lucky young fella you’ve got learning from you , wish that was me 😊
