The NFL’s unlikeliest MVP… and why it will never happen again

The NFL’s Most Valuable Player award was introduced in 1957, since when it has been won by a quarterback 47 times. Running backs have won it 18 times. And it has gone to a defensive player twice.
But, just once, in its long history, a different player was awarded MVP. This is his story, and why it will never happen again.

Organizing collegw football is like organizing the Holy Roman Empire, centuries of different states doing their own thing coming together will always be a mess, and for better or worse while there are individual members that want to restructure the whole thing to be more streamlined, most want to keep it that way. And we all just look at it from the outside with amazement.
That's not what softwood means.
Calling it now it’s mark moseley
Nailed it
Just chsnge the used bruh
3v3 basketball is an entertaining watch but the top down us/super league idea of just setting up sports teams and leagues will always be a bit icky to me
Just redefine the award so other players can win
im going to guess that the winner was some position that no one care about like kicker, long snapper or the guy that holds the ball for the kicker.
….. Crazy them space satellites in 1921!!!???
Joe Devine in his cricket arc 🔥
It’s a perfect game
It pronounced tru-meL
Offence wins fans, but defence wins championships.
Not a rogue! It’s a rouge, as in French for the color red!
Why not just make a better press?
We even used to oil our cricket bats before knocking them in.
Kevin Kiermaier got his ring even though he didn’t play in the NLCS or the WS
Or just have the guy stand behind the athletes and shoot the gun normally 😭😭
Phillies legend Connor Brogdon
Wish the NHL had this kind of common sense when voting on their MVP. It almost always goes to the best or most productive forward instead of the player who actually is the most valuable to their team
Not a baseball fan, but I at least hope this'll at least get the Mets a world series this time around. Not a mets fan, lol, but when you see a fan base and team try so hard, kinda wanna see them win one...
Same goes for your face in boxing
In America we make our bats from hardwood. Makes things a lot easier
Its so wierd why do I like this sport so much I'm not even American
nice
Same. Do you know there was a manga or japanese comic about american football called Eyeshield 21? It's a freaking good read if you haven't tried it.
Kinda like a baseball glove but for a glove you put a ball in the glove and seal the glove with rubber bands for a few days or just use it consistently
In the same way people say Man United not participating in the 1999/2000 FA Cup "killed" the FA Cup, JJ Watt not winning MVP that year ruined the MVP Award for me. In the last decade, the NFL has increasingly become a passing league, and the heavy bias towards quarterbacks makes it almost farcical.
so you agree that the meta favors QBs? Then i guess it makes sense why they win it every time
Why not use a harder wood
My high school coach had most players play both sides. It was fine for our secondary but our linemen would always gas out before the end of the game
MVP is just QB of the year sadly. There's been years where the QB just isnt the most valuable player on the field (CMC last year for the 49ers and Saquon Barkley for the Eagles this year) but the RB and defensive players will always be snubbed. They should either not let QBs have MVP and make a dedicated QB of the year award or make offensive player of the year an award the QB cant win so at least then we know the actual best offensive player every year
Jackson DeVille for MVP
Saquon might win it this year if he breaks Dickerson’s record.
Saquon will be Offensive POTY. He’s obviously great but he isn’t the most valuable player on his team. Philly can still have success without him.
Lamar Jackson deserves it this season
8 is him.
We need a QB award akin to the Cy Young for mlb
I agree
I’ll tell you what happened, they lost Tim Hudson, Barry Zito and Mark Mulder
Crossing my fingers for a Long Snapper winning MVP
All long snappers basically play for the league minimum or a little more. They’re valuable enough to warrant a roster spot, but not much more.
@@baconlight8430You should Google Trey Junken and the Giants. Having a decent long snapper is as critical as a good quarterback.
@@baconlight8430im betting he knows that
@@baconlight8430 How valuable is a long snapper? Imagine your team is about to kick the Super Bowl winning field goal with no time left - and the snap goes over the holder's head.
Punters should start wearing MVP chains
Not even K2 is the hardest. The Trango Towers, Cerro Torre, K1 (Masherbrum) are WAY MORE difficult!
DLS is more complicated
Deym crazy op
Tbh I use neon bats and they don’t need knocking in
Willow is definitely a hardwood not a soft wood
It's a hardwood, but it's soft.
Hence proved😂😂😂😂 Best one Aakash!
Would the ball have hit the wicket? Yes? Did it hit the bat first or the leg? The leg? Then it’s an lbw, it’s not very complicated
Now I know
Modern bats you don't have too as I heard .
I thought I have to get intimate with my bat
Sprint races are so unnecessary
I had a coach who is one of the scouts for the Texas Rangers this fall. He told me that for winning the world series, he did not get a ring, but a sweatshirt.
The Dankies
Fun fact: Yale has won the most national titles and all of them were before 1930 😂
You forgot the big one. Canadian Football you can motion towards the line of scrimmage and motion as many players as you want.
I like how you asked the question and then said it’s a good question. I might use that strategy in my teaching 😂
