We work full time but try to escape normality in our campervan as often as possible.
This channel will allow us to document our travels for us to reflect on the good times, if others like too then... great!
We're very good at mooching, without pre made plans hence the name, professional moochers.
We love to travel, see different parts of the world, especially if it's outdoors.
We're often drawn to mountainous areas but we equally love individual architectural structures in cities around the world.
We also like food and drink!

Vanlife doesn’t get better than this!
Remote camp spots in our VW California Campervan are what we strive for.
This forest location high up in the North Wales hills in Snowdonia (Eryri) national park is the perfect place for a campfire, beers, cooking on a fire pit, bit of bushcraft, hiking through the woodland with our dog without seeing a single person!
We cooked some tomaporks on the Kadai travel fire bowl but had to rely on the Petromax Atago for backup due to the meat being too big.
As mentioned, we're considering another camper van life meet up and wondered if you think we should have it at this location or attempt to find a quiet field/campsite to allow more vans, bigger vans and more space to spread out but, with no social shelter from bad weather?

Our favourite portable fire pits for camping
มุมมอง 1.9K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
When travelling and camping in our camper van, we often use a fire pit. You may already know, we often cook over a fire pit too, whether it be curry, steak, burgers or chicken. We use a mixture of charcoal and wood for that authentic smoke flavour but aside from cooking, there's nothing better than a campfire surrounded by family & friends with a beer in hand, especially if you're fighting mosq...
Perfect hike from this campsite | Peak District
มุมมอง 2.5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The Peak District national park is becoming a firm favourite camping location for us in our VW California camper van. Newfold farm campsite in Edale is such a great location for hiking, sitting round the campfire with views, there's an amazing pub next door and it's at the start of the Pennine Way route with Kinder Scout nearby. We went for the perfect hike from our campsite and were treated to...
We guarantee you'll want to stay here! Dulas glamping
มุมมอง 8Kหลายเดือนก่อน
We found an absolute hidden gem! Dulas glamping is a remote farm with only one camping pitch. This single pitch is securely fenced in so you can confidently allow your dog, especially reactive dogs or even breeds such as the XL bully to roam free without having distractions to react to. We visited in our VW California camper van and the views of the local mountains are gobsmacking! It's only 15...
Stormy camper van trip to burns farm campsite
มุมมอง 5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
We headed to the Lake District national park in our VW California T5 campervan for the Lakeland festival of light in Keswick. Little did we know, a named storm, Kathleen would cancel the event and leave us to hunker down in the van with 70mph winds! Burns farm campsite was our destination and we timed it perfectly as we got to see a baby highland cow called April, 4 days after her birth. There ...
Our new favourite campsite | Peak District

With a couple of days off work we packed our VW California camper van and headed to the Peak District national park in central UK, specifically to Edale to stay at Newfold fam campsite. This place allows campfires, have an onsite cafe/bistro & shop with the best pub next door which is dog friendly, has great beers and the food is superb! Situated at the beginning of the Pennine way it's a great...
We found vanlife camping heaven! Cefn Coed campsite
มุมมอง 5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
We took our VW T5 California camper van to a campsite which enables you to feel like you're van life wild camping. Amongst some amazing tent pitches, there are only a few camper van pitches which are situated in the secluded woodland surrounded by nature. This camp site is called Cefn Coed, in south Snowdonia (Eryri) national park, in between Barmouth and Dolgellau on the Mawddach trail. We too...
Overnight pub stop in Yorkshire Dales | Vanlife
มุมมอง 3.8K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
We took our camper van to the Yorkshire Dales and camped in a pub carpark with an amazing view of the Ribblehead viaduct and Whernside as a backdrop which is the highest hill in Yorkshire, one of the 3 peaks. We hiked 9 miles from the pub, tp the summit of Whernside and back and replenished our energy levels with pub grub and beer. It's great to return to vanlife after a 2 month break due to il...
Scotland in a VW Camper van
มุมมอง 5K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Winter camping in a small VW T5 California campervan in the Scottish Highlands comes with its own challenges but it never disappoints! We have been to this campsite three times now, Dalraddy is situated just outside Aviemore on the Speyside way hiking & biking route in close proximity to the Cairngorms largest mountains. We stayed here for new year but as you'll see, celebrations were a little ...
Stormy start to our Scotland van road trip
มุมมอง 5K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
We headed to the Cairngorms national park in our VW T5 California campervan for a wee road trip around the highlands of Scotland. Storm Gerrit didn't want us to get there too easily so the A9 was closed due to heavy snow, all other routes were closed due to floods. After an eventful night, we finally reached Aviemore and Glenmore for a few nights camping on Loch Morlich with some hiking, outdoo...
Keswick campsite on Derwent water
มุมมอง 4.4K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Again, we find ourselves camping in the rain in our tiny VW campervan with our dog. We took our VW California to the Lake District to stay at the Camping and Caravanning club site in Keswick, on the shores of Derwentwater which commands one of the best views in the UK, as you can see a number of Wainwrights surrounding the water with the larger fells in the distance, including Scafell Pike, hig...
Kestrel Lodge campsite in a storm | VW California camper van
มุมมอง 8K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
This trip, we have the campsite to ourselves! Storm force winds and rain did limit our ability to take advantage of it but Kestrel Lodge campsite in north Lake District national park, near Keswick and Bassenthwaite is a real hidden gem!! Our small VW Camper van did feel a little smaller during the bad weather but it didn't stop us exploring the local hills and woodland, whilst marvelling at the...

This week we continue our trip at Usha Gap campsite in the Yorkshire Dales national park where we go on a hike in the hills from our VW Campervan. Where was the haunting ? 😮😂?
In the house 😄
Hi, What is the name of the campsite?
@@OleChrDoghammer it’s called camping Tiglio
Looked just the dogs, superb place. Summer weather at night in Scotland you were e experiencing. Yeh defo dinner. You could have your own theme tune also. Dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner Alan!
😄😄 it’s breakfast dinner and tea. It’s an amazing place, feel like everyone needs to visit here 👌🏼
@@Professionalmoochers try singing the Batman theme to your theme above.
Would absolutely be on board for the camping in the field and risk the elements. We absolutely love your videos and would love to say hi 😊 and stroke Jack
@@AnimalKnights if you stroke him, you get to keep him 😉 We’re going to start looking for a good field next week 👍🏼
Nice bush craft knife mate.
Cheers! It’s my best mate 🤩
@@Professionalmoochers May I know what brand is it mate please? Must have for my Van 🚐 too
@@bubuyogful it’s a Casstrom Lars Falt bushcraft knife 👍🏼
Get your arses over to the Italian lakes for an international session,so I dont have to drive too far 😂
If only! 🤩
We would be up for a meet-up guys. Hopefully I won't be hobbling around when it is. Hopefully we'll see you in a few weeks at the DubbedOut Festival in Cheshire 😊
Great! We’re going to try and find somewhere in a couple of weeks. We’ll be there 🍺
Love the idea of remote with some bushcraft but bet you’ll get enough for 15 so maybe a rural out the way camp site
Yeh I think we may need a field. The cottage could be a winter option for a smaller group 👍🏼
Hiya. Just found your channel. Fab pitch. Is it your cottage?
Hi 👋🏼 No we know the owner so we stay there a few times a year 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers wow, that's brill.
Meet up in a field would be dandy. Moochers Fest!. You say you may not be the biggest on TH-cam but I bet you’ll be amazed at how many people would come. Man get wood, woman make toastie. Spoiled. Was it made in a ridgemonkey?. I’ve just got one and made a few this weekend whilst in our van Colin.. Starving now after watching those chops. Beer challenge for you. We stayed in Aberlour campsite for three nights and in the shop they had a brand called ScotcHop. Speyside barrel aged stout. Omg, stunning, the better half had their IPA, also nice. Speyside brewing company. They do deliveries!
Judging from the response, we might need a field. 😄😄 yes in the ridge monkey, makes the best toasties 😍 Nice! I’ll check that out 👌🏼
A meet up would be great with likeminded folk. Beer (cider), food and chat.. location not fussed.. 💪🏼👍🏻
Perfect, a number of people interested so we’ve got some work to do 👍🏼
Quote from Alan: Not dinner, tea. Priceless… 😂😂😂😂
😉 tis the truth
Remember the Flintstones when a rack of ribs is dropped on the side of the Flinstones car and it tips it over ?? Well that tomopork thing reminded me of that yabba dabba dooooo :)
😂😂 you’re not far wrong!
Count me in for a catch up, cottage or field. 👍
You’re on 👍🏼
What a beautiful place to stay
Gorgeous isn’t it 😍
Hi guys, love your channel, is the meet up for vaner's only,?. as we only have suv and tent for Now, but like the thought of meeting up with you guys sounds good👍
Thank you 🙏🏼 No SUV’s allowed as we’ll end up wanting one 😄😄 You’ll be fine in your setup, as long as you have a bed and a chair 👌🏼
😀, Nice one guys, Look forward to meet up.👍
Is there any chance of making that bridge access a bit bigger? 😆 TBH, looking at that evening, I would have risked it! Of course, the main issue we have is getting our beast over that bridge, but driving past, turning at the top of the hill and approaching from the other end may help. The next issue is reversing back over it if I have no room to turn once we arrive. Of course, we're always up for a meet up and we will keep an eye on everyone's suggestions and see what's planned. Those Tomaporks?!! 😋
More chance of me growing a fringe than modifying the bridge 😄 The tomapork was immense, definitely buying some of those again 😋
Magic mushroom course sounds fun 😊 YNWA
Not a bad idea 😉
If you’re still doing meet ups in a few years we’ll be there. Need to get this van driven to Argentina first 😂😂 Enjoy your dinner folks 😂😂
Bloody show offs 😄😄
@@Professionalmoochers 😂😂😂😂😂
Yep, we would love to meet up. The cottage sounds great and our preference but if the numbers are there, then a field will be great also.
As long as there’s 🔥 and 🍺 😁
We would be interested in a bigger camp work commitments and all that, great video as all ways
Cheers mate, we’re going to find out more about the field option 👍🏼
We would be interested in a meet up! Any location! Not sure if we would get our van to the cottage? xx
Yeh it’s a bit of a squeeze over the bridge for a LWB. Field might be a better option 👍🏼
Nice to see you back on it, missed last one cause of clash of dates. Would it be over two nights or just the one ?
I think one night is enough with us mate 😄😄 It’s just a thought at the moment
I would also love to get out and meet you all wherever it is..
Just a thought process at the moment but we will more than likely make it happen 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers amazing.. 🤩
😂😂 … love your story telling and “Jack is a nobhead” love dogs they are amazingly entertaining..
He fills the gaps in perfectly 😄😄
We would love to tag along wherever it was. Closer to the north east the better like 😂
😄 it might be slightly more west than east
I’m sure we’ll manage😊
Well I’ve got the amazon one and never used it. We mainly stay where you can’t have open fires. I love the look of the snow peak one, I was just looking at it in Keswick just before this video. One question though, which may or may not be stupid……..how does your clothes/down jackets etc fair up when near the fire? I would be worried about the embers. Also, do you use it under the wind out awning or outside of it when sitting underneath?
We’ve started looking specifically for sites which allow fires 😉 If you have properly dried wood, it’ll spit & smoke less, with a lot less embers but, we normally try not to wear a fragile jacket near it. Normally go wool or fleece. Under the awning shade should be fine but, you’d have to use less fuel, keep the heat levels down
Come and try the solo 😀
😄😄 you’ll have to take the wrapper off first!
We're in whatever!! 😁
Easily pleased 😉
Obviously x
A video of a guys face. Hey bud, try turning the camera 180 every now and again. ❤
If you’d have watched the full video, you’d have seen the full 12 seconds I turned the camera round 😉
A large field will mean everyone can bring there 4 fire pits. But the smaller gathering sounds the better of the two
😄😄😄 you make a very good point! There might not be enough room at the cottage for everyone’s fire pit collection.
I hope you didn’t take offence regarding the thanks. Very kind gesture but we’d prefer you to just watch and enjoy for free 😁
@@Professionalmoochers No offence taken we just wanted to support the channel we enjoy the video content and it was just a small token to put towards some hazy beer or peroni red or even fire pit number 5 😀 Maybe turn off super thanks. So no one else gets there wrist slapped 😁 ✌️
Ps. It’s non refundable
@@justinlimLVBUS well it’s very kind of you and you’re the first so, bit of a shock. We’ll put it to good use 😉
We’re away in the van this weekend and using our new Kelly Kettle. Not quite a fire pit but have you tried one?
Brilliant, love them! I have a ghillie kettle, exactly the same thing and it’s frighteningly efficient 👌🏼
1 twizzler and a bunch of sticks will boil 2 litres of water in no time
@@grahams3417 and fill the air with the best smell going 😍
True dat. I have tried burning pine cones too but it’s like the inside of a 200 year old fish smokery covered in tar.
Mmm, don’t have any fire pits. Food for thought. Anyway, vans packed for three nights in Aberlour. Leffe, malt shall be drank with a nice steak.
Ooooo that steak would be perfect cooked over fire 😉
Ive got the amazon one. Its really good but the rate it burns through wood is crazy
Yeh you’re right, so much oxygen getting to the fire, it rips through them as there’s no wind protection
Thankfully you have all four of the fire pits that I need. As such, Ruth won't protest too much when I tell her I just want one... The Petromax! Have you gone for the Ooni or the Gozney pizza oven. I'm already sending Ruth pics of the Gozney Dome in green. Yet again, your name will be mentioned in the bargaining process! 😆
Petromax is an excellent choice sir! Don’t forget to include the bag in your sales pitch, maybe a Dutch oven too 😉 I’ve gone for a black Gozney Roccbox, haven’t even opened it yet but I’ve made some dough balls so will be using it for the first time tonight 🤞🏼🧑🍳
I'm going to use the, 'slowly, slowly, catchy monkey' style of persuasion. A few seeds planted over this summer and I may have a gleaming Gosney on my new patio next year! 😆
@CampervanHabitude well if Ruth seen our first pizzas last night, you might be half way there as they were GOOOOOOD! 😍
@@Professionalmoochers 😋
We have a Solo Mesa XL. Bloody good
Really like the look of a solo. My parents just bought one, yet to test theirs out 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers the Mesa is great for the two of us. Only used it in the garden so far.
Jack's a star!
And he knows it! 😄
This video was the pits
😄😄 not too far from the truth
Strange, I had been looking at fire pits all day and then up pops your video. The best one I have seen is someone used the drum out of a washing machine. 😂
😄😄 very strange! The washing machine drum is an extremely good option as they’re stainless steel, full of ventilation but, doesn’t pack down so too large for our van 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers Put a bin liner in it when not using as a fire pit lol. Have you tried a solo fire pit? Interested to know if they are any good.
@ianlowe481 no I haven’t, my parents just bought one so I’ll be trying it out soon 😁
A steel car wheel is also a good option!
@@grahams3417 With or without the tyre 😂
I have the Atago, brilliant but of kit. I also use it for Dutch oven cooking, I also have the hot plate which is brilliant for al fresco breakfasts. The other thing I was dubious about is the fireproof 'cloth' oven cover but it’s surprisingly effective. So versatile and a brilliant fire pit - very efficient and probably the only one you can pick up and move it whilst it’s hot of the wind changes direction!
The hot plate does look very tempting 😍 Fireproof cloth?? I’m going to have to look into that! 😁
@@Professionalmoochers I looked it up, it’s actually called a convection dome! I bought the atago as a set which included the bag and the dome. Didn’t think I’d ever use the dome but it’s great, can use it as a smoker or to create an oven when using a small Dutch oven on the top grate etc. The hot plate I have is the one with the hole in the middle (to feed fuel) but also doubles up as a great burner to boil water for a brew while frying the bacon for breakfast butties!
@@mikelambrou4462 just looked, the convection lid looks very interesting! 🤩
@@Professionalmoochers I just need to erase that Kadai from my mind now before I convince myself I need another fire pit! 🤣
@mikelambrou4462 if you tune in next week, you’ll see exactly why two pits is a must 😄
good vid Alan
Cheers 😁
We have the amazon one, great for that last little bit of space in the van😅
Couldn’t agree more! We carried ours on every trip before building a collection of pits 👍🏼
The snow peak grill is both adjustable and 304 stainless steel. Whoever said it was made of chrome is either a liar or clueless when it comes to the art of metallurgical compounds. 😂😂
It’s the additional grill which goes ontop, which is chrome plated. The reason I didn’t invest the extra on it. The fire pit itself though, is really robust 👌🏼
I wish I could get all excited about sitting oot at a firepit or a bbq like you guys ( or Col over at Yorkshire poptop adventures) but I just sit ootside roon ma Airfryer until the midges start eating us 😂😂😂
There you go! You need a fire to fend off the beasties 😁
@Professionalmoochers ach ye know I'm only carrying on Al , great vlog on firepits but oor Jack stole the show again lol
@@DunkfaeOotnAbootWiUs 😄😄😄 he’s a real camera queen!
