Tracey Attrill (Essex girl in the wild)
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 ส.ค. 2012
Essex girl in the wild , forager of wild plants and hiker in wild places. I live in The Lake District National Park and I would like to take you along on my walks showing you the beautiful and stunning area in the mountains and valleys.
Along the way I provide routes onto the famous and iconic Wainright Hills and to be honest any other hills around the national park with stunning views that get overlooked by the majority of visitors. I also include some foraging for wild plants and would like to inspire others to use what nature provides for free.
Included in my adventures is our faithful collie pup Billy and my boyfriend Andrew. So I hope you come along with me on our adventures into the wild.

4K Hike from GRASMERE in the LAKE DISTRICT/Silver How to Blea Rigg/Easdale Tarn and Waterfall
An 8 mile hike from Grasmere in The Lake District to take in stunning mountain scenery , a popular camping location at Easdale Tarn and a stunning waterfall.
Grasmere is a popular village to visit with plenty of coffee shops , cafes and restaurants and places to stay, so this walk is easily accessible from the village. We parked for free just outside the village on the A591 in a lay-by (room for approx 25 cars).
We headed up around Allan Banks to head onto Silver How, great views of the Lake and surrounding mountains and a relatively small hill,,to then head along the ridge to Blea Rigg. Great views into the langdale valley and of the pikes.
We descend to Easdale Tarn, a popular spot, to head down via Sour Milk Gill with a stunning waterfall and ravine.

Hi, Tracey Andy and Billy. Not done this route before, It looks a fantastic walk. Very varied with lots of interest along the way. Some lovely scenery. The view over Grasmere and Rydal looks terrific. One that I definitely need to do me thinks. Don't suppose you have an outdoor active or Alltrails link do you? I can't seem to download the Google drive one. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Keep on smiling all of you and big hugs to Billy
great walk as I remember - I hope the other hikers did not mind the noise of the drone - nevertheless: thank you
That looked like a perfect day for a winter walk. I loved the view down GL valley from Swinescar , I’ve not noticed that before, probably been in clag so couldn’t see it 🤣. Great work Tracey. Thanks and TFS.
Enjoyed the walk. Some great views. Loved the frozen tarn
great hike 😍
Stunning walk and the ice on the tarn was amazing. Will have to try and do this one once the clocks change 🙂
Hi Tracey, good to see you out on another adventure. Wonderful views. Billy on his rightful place as king of the castle surveying his realm. Great drone footage. I didn't expect to see all the broken ice on the tarn. The waterfall looks impressive. Thank you for sharing this adventure. Take care and stay safe. Bye for now ATB to you Andy and Billy 😊
Loving the views Tracey! Heading up there soon, got this one bookmarked for the trip!
I was so surprised when I got to the top of this fell after a second attemp, views were fantastic. First time it was like a river coming down the path and abandoned it. Second time, blowing a hoolie but had driven 2.5hrs to do it and it was fantastic, I remember that lovely tree. The route you have done, is the one I turend back on at that point of crossing the Gyll it was a torrent of water.
Mate I’ve lost a piece of kit on every wainwright. If you do em all you’ll collect the full set!Nice video.
Tracy don't say you have retired the scissors......
This is great. On my to do list. Thank you for another lovely video
@HeatherPark-ij7yz thank you Heather, you will love this walk, especially in July/August as it's all pink with Heather, truly amazing
Thank you Tracy, another wonderful hike
@alanquinn3868 Thanks very much Alan
Absolutely stunning…… that sunset! In fact I had to paint it. So I took a screenshot and got the watercolours out. I wished I could show you.
@lynnla100 oh wow fantastic. Shame I can't see it , but glad you got some inspiration .

Shawshank hahaha 😂 i need a revisit up here tracey it was the same for me thick clag and rain so yeah another visit and i need to do fleetwith so yeah waiting for summer to hopfully enjoy them again just catching up with yas as been busy as hell shame for the clag this is my favorite part of the lakes billy was having a good head rub on the ice 😂andy saying its quiet sometimes whats he trying to say here tracey that view over to great gable is amazing my favourite mountain of all and i dont no why as been on some great ones but this one just stands out for me post card views that was class the cloud inversions the bothy and the info brilliant again billy and the gang
@Butchyboysadventures hi Butch 👋 good to have you back haha.... thanks bud I was actually saying to Andy on the day about your walk on Brandreth , you were wetter than a mermaids minge 😄
Hi Tracey, So, the old fart's quote sounded very familiar, knew it was from a film but couldn't remember the name straight away, then the clag cleared and I remembered "The Shawshank Redemption", bet a few others got it as well. In search of inversion that eventually paid off, and no one fell in this time. Andy's drone shots are atmospheric. As for Honnister, I'm so old that I remember meeting Mark Weir, the guy that owned the mine until his helicopter crash. Cheers Graham
@gberish602 Thanks Graham , I remember the helicopter crash too so I guess I'm in the old fart club 😄
Andy and Red...how a friendship should be. Brings a tear to the eye when you watch it.
@howardbooker9969 I can't believe I didn't get it, I love the end of that film and that beautiful tree where he found the tin. I believe that tree has fallen.
Well Tracey, perseverance paid off in thd end 😊 great cloud inversion 😊👌Mister Any with his little snippet from ono eof the best movie of all time ,The shawdank Redemption, what a bloody great film!! Regards to you,Andy & of course Billy Bob 🐶🐕❤👍🎉
@davidmarshall5596 Thanks David, your right it's a great folm I've even watched the film 4 times so can't believe I didn't get it , love the ending where they both meet on the beach by the Pacific ocean. Mawgan Freeman is one of my favourite actors 👌
@Traceyattrill-Essexgirlinwild i can't recall Morgan Freeman playing a role in a poor film, from memory all his performances have been up there with the best! This particular film was noted for the Brilliant finale, also the part were the Governor of the jail, discovered the escape tunnel 😀that was just superb 👌 they Don't make movies like that anymore Tracey, it's all ai now, give me The Green Mile etc, anyday 😉 😀
Brilliant I just love all your videos, please do hellvellyn ❤
Thank you , will do Helvellyn when days a bit longer and my knees are better haha 😄
My dog has saved my bacon a few times😂 he leads the way and I've got used to it, he's never wrong! Fantastic views on this one👍❤❤
@foreverlv311 Thank you, I think dogs must be able to smell where the tracks lead , it's my only reasoning that they know where to go. They must smell humans and which way they have Trod?
Fabulous video Tracey. Glad you got that inversion eventually, stunning to see it and so atmospheric. Is there a proper route from Brandeth towards Haystacks or is it off piste. Looked a great route. ATB
Yes there is a proper route , it's really nice heading past numerous tarns and amongst the Heather. I have done a vlog from haystacks over to Moses Trod a whole backwards but I didn't head up to Brandreth but all you would do is head up the ground to Brandreth from the gate .
Absolutely phenomenal presentation! Edited so nicely guys! Bravo
@ervinslens Much appreciated, thank you. At the start I was starting to think it was going to be rubbish when the fog wasn't clearing . Atb Tracey
I did this 2 years ago, Grey Knott from the Drum House, over to Brandrerh, and it took me forever to find the peak. Wandering round aimlessly with Islay. Never did get to green gable. Did rerurn this year to do fleetwith pike. Islay and I headed back to the cafe but stopped to view buttermere it was stunning. Had a gorgeous day overall and a great excuse to return. Lovely video, as always. Thank you both
@Muddipaws1308 Thanks Annie, it's such a confusing summit , so many cairns everywhere. But when you find it , it's obvious haha. The view of Great Gable from Green Gable is epic too. Might have to do Green Gable from Base Brown one day 🤔
Hi Tracey, Andy and of course Billy. What a day that turned out to be, patience was well and truly rewarded. It’s cracking area of the lakes. I did my last wild camp on Brandreth with that view down to Buttermere. I haven’t got a clue what Andy was on about, I must be too young. 🤣🤣
@DAoutdoors Haha it was from the film Shawshank Redemption, I've watched it 4ctimes too 😄. Brandreth would be a great camp , lots of flat ground . It's not my fav summit but with this inversion it was magical. Atb Dave
Hi Tracey. Glad it all worked out in the end and you got to see the inversion. It was great to hear the banter and laughter between you both. Lovely views, the Blackbeck tarn looked amazing. Dubs hut looked good with an amazing wood burner. The drone footage of the inversion was stunning. Thanks for sharing. Shawshamp redemption?? Bye for now to you, Andy and Billy 😊
@yvonnebailey9973 Thanks Yvonne , yes and I have watched this 4 times so can't believe I didn't get it haha. Brilliant film. Atb to you both xx
Brilliant it sounds like me and Paul when out for a walk. I managed to get lost up there in a cloud. Turned round and went back to the car! Thank you so much for taking us round with you. Keep up the good work
@HeatherPark-ij7yz thank you Heather. It's so easy to get lost in fog , everything looks the same , you did the right thing. Atb Tracey
A quote from one of the very best movies....Shawshank Redemption... nice one Andy, can't believe Tracey didn't know it 😂
Haha I've watched Shawshank Redemption 4 times too 🤣 I could of kicked myself for not knowing that . A brilliant film.
WOW! What an amazing piece of film. Absolutely fantastic. What a day the three of you had. A day to live long in the memory I'd say. It don't get much better that's for sure.
@davidburgess9058 thank you David, I love it when it's foggy but when it starts to swirl about and the tops appear it's a sight I never take for granted and feel blessed in that moment. 😃
You two are like a comedy act 😂😂 Great humour and banter. Brilliant footage, Tracey. What a treat you finally getting such an amazing inversion. Cracking stuff. Love it over Moses Trod - brilliant views but you don't have to bust a gut 😂 ATB Brian and Jill 😊😊
@BrianChappell-w5r Thanks Brian , our thoughts exactly. We do so much mucking about we run out of time and it's all about just taking in the views , not about bagging as many summits as one can. I was planning Green Gable but we spent alot of time filming the inversion. Always another day. Atb to you both Tracey
You two are producing some great stuff at the moment and as I think I commented on one of Andy’s vids IMO you are both getting better at presentation ( very much meant as a positive 😉) the more you do. Another inversion and another really enjoyable vid . Thanks for sharing 👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏
@richardborley7326 Thanks Richard , I'll take that , we put in alot of hard work and learn from other TH-camrs so it's really nice when we get comments like yours. Makes it all worth while. 😃
Terrific views when you came out of the mist - very atmospheric. Grey Knotts and Brandeth are seldom walked except when on the way to or from Great Gable or when knocking off AWs, but the conditions at the end made it really worthwhile. Shawshank.
@gbfch Thanks Graham , yes you got it 👍 can't believe I didn't get it haha. I was planning Green Gable but we spent so much time filming the inversion we ran out of time. So it was a strange random route haha.
Loved this episode can truly see the chemistry between you both , little digs and funny comments, was smiling all the way through beautiful veiws also well done
@markward6387 Thank you 😊 Andy is a cheeky chap isn't he haha
semangat kawanku
Lovely views. It's a nice walk at any time but in those conditions it's magical. Snow transforms the most mundane of fells.
@gbfch Thanks Graham , I know it's strange but these fells are up there on my favourites haha . The snow just made it spectacular 😍
Absolutely fantastic xxx
@@garywickens7460 Thank you 😊
Hi Tracy, I absolutely loved this video, the winter fells are magnificent. Andy was entertaining as always but I hope he wasn't too wet after the fall in the Tarn. Brilliant start to the year along with your other videos. You and Andy are now my favorite TH-camrs
@daveharrison1650 Thank you Dave, that's really nice to know. Makes all the effort and risking life and limb worth while haha.
Hi Tracey, Andy once told me that Billy is a genius at finding the right paths, guess that was too much to expect with all the snow. Your gaiters were paying for themselves in the snow, not much good if you fall in a tarn 😂🤣, good to see he got lots of sympathy. Thanks for recording your walk so we can enjoy it from the sofa. Cheers Graham
@gberish602 haha 😄 it was just too funny to be sympathetic haha. I think if he fell in fully I might have stopped laughing, I think 🤔
Doh, so wish I'd have gone up there now. Had intended to go up to Buttermere but it said both Honister and Newlands Passes were closed off. Thought about Causey Pike or Barrow but was only up there the week before. This looks amazing. I'm so jealous. Wonderful, what a day you had. Andy, ha ha ha what on earth were you doing man. Thought you were going for a dip in the tarn for a minute. Billy looks so cute in his red coat. Wonderful. PS: I went to that tarn a on a past walk after watching one of your previous videos a while back. Otherwise I'd have missed it. Keep on smiling ATB David
@davidburgess9058 it's the easiest place to park when roads are icy , and it's always stunning there isn't it. Andy survived a cold wet leg haha 😄 and the humiliation 😄 Thanks again David
Super video and some fabulous wintry scenes. Love it when the light of winter on a snowy scene looks almost monochrome. And Andy deciding a spot of wild swimming was on the cards is probably the highlight of January! Well, at least he found the tarn... 🤣
@ireneboston7953 lol yep he found it alright haha 😄
Fantastic tour ❤
@@Three_Lions-1986 Thank you 😊
Well, I think I've commented before Tracey, Braithwaite, what a place to begin a walk, & Barrow being the objective ❤😊😊 definitely my favourite part of the world ❤😊 never tire of seeing Skiddaw from here, & with its cake icing on, it looks even more stupendous 👌👌❤ bloody hell,Andy must have felt a chill after going for a paddle 😂good job it was only 1 leg in the water, just shows how ice 9n water is treacherous! Great walk this, will definitely be around there sometime this year, regards to you, Andy & of course Billy Bob 🐕🐶❤🎉
@davidmarshall5596 luckily it ended up just being his foot as he had gaiters on. I've fell in a tarn before and I was splashing about haha ...it's definitely not recommended, always a fantastic area to walk 👍
@@Traceyattrill-Essexgirlinwildyeah, this area is up there with the best Tracey 👌
Hi Tracey. Absolutely fantastic, what a lovely walk, some amazing monochrome views. Unfortunately I have not been able to get out in the snow much. I was away in sunnier weather last week playing some golf and the week before we were visiting family. I was hoping to get out this weekend, but the weather looks awful.....typical. Hope you are all well All the best.
@DAoutdoors thanks Dave I'm sure it was good to get into sunnier climates , they're will be more snow I'm sure this winter, alot of people have been struggling in the snow we had , noticed a few failed videos in the snow due to the soft powdery thickness on the higher tops and in drifts.
Wow you are both spoiling us at the moment with beautiful videos.
@143topline itx been a very good start to the year , thank you 😊
Absolutely stunning views! wonderful to witness the look on your face on the summit of Barrow you could just see how happy you were in that moment. An added extra to the video was Andy attempting to take a dip in the Tarn and your laughter that followed, Priceless footage, Keep up the great Videos and giving us all something to smile at. I was chuckling throughout this one. Billybob makes it look so easy.
Haha... I keep watching Andy fall in haha ....if he had fell right in i would have been a bit more concerned 😄 🤣
We tried this on Sunday but turned back before Thornythwaite Fell as the fog was so thick we couldn’t make out any of the path or features. We watched your video and we both just went “I didn’t know you could see Dale Head from there” 😂
The path is easily missed in parts on Thorneythwaite Fell and you can end up at the head of the hanging valley ... you would have popped out of the inversion on Glaramara though , imagine that but like you say it's tough going until then
@ Yes we saw your video from Brandreth and were a bit gutted we didn’t carry on the walk! But on the other hand we went to castle crag instead and we had the whole place to ourselves which was amazing.
@DarrenK276-NE sounds like a good plan B ... 👌 😄
Your dogs feet don't they get cold ? Or is his breed tough enough
His feet are fine but they are very tough, collies are bred as working dogs to be out on the fells in all weather , so his fur doesn't even ball up in snow.
Beautiful walk looked hardwork though ,great video as always Tracey
Thanks, it wasn't too bad if keeping to the main track as lots of people done al the hard work already haha.
Loving all the snowy vids Tracey. They look fabulous and a lot of fun. Ive missed out on all the snow this year, maybe get some more before spring arrives🤞I can only award Andy a 3.5 for such an ungraceful fall 🤣
Lol...he wasn't graceful was he , rolling about all over the place lol. I'm sure there will be more snow, it is due this week but along with very high winds so won't be out in that. We have had a great start to the new year though.
Hi Tracey, Andy and Billy. A great video, guys. We did the same walk the day after you, like you, parking at the school. We did the Stile End/Outerside bit the opposite way around. We didn't see the frozen tarn at all, let alone fall in it, Andy 😂😂 Amazing views and conditions. ATB Brian and Jill 😊😊
Fantastic, it looked a bit more thawed out for Sunday so hope you got a good walk...the tarn is away from the path in knee deep snow ❄️
Hi Tracey, Andy and Billybob, that was a great watch, great filming as always and the snow was giving it that magical look once again. There seemed to be a lot of other jokers about as there was a lot of distant laughter in nearly all of the video. Poor Andy falling into the edge of the tarn, his lower legs must have been freezing after that. Hope you are all well, cheers Glyn.
Thanks Glyn....I wasn't very helpful to Andy was I haha...Just so funny.
Hi Tracy, to be honest I think I would have reacted the same, mind you it shows how dangerous those conditions can be if even someone with Andy’s experience can get caught out. Is there still snow on the fell tops Tracey or has it all melted. Cheers Glyn.
