Typhon X Mini Excavator Issues
Generally I'm pretty happy with my Typhon Mini Excavator but there were a few significant issues.
1. The Seat came ripped. I didn't realize what these cost so it would be nice to get a replacement. It looks melted.
2. One of the fitting bosses is not welded all the way around so the grease spits out. This is a more sigificant repair.
3. One of the grease fittings is stripped.
Overall it works well. It's a bit challenging to change the oil. It's a bit on the jerkey side. The fan installation is required. Also the hours counter is really not that great. That said, for the price it is getting the work done.

      Mine have lasted about that long. So far I haven’t run across better options. IMO, long term we need a change to have the lock on the wall side so you could run power to it. Or sole other option to run power through the door. Batteries don’t cut it.

      Yes. The key point was that the lock would not lock or unlock. The fact that it “auto-unlocked” validated that it wasn’t mechanically broken, it was an electronic problem.

    What do I do if there’s oil in the spark plug holes? Do I still replace spark plugs or wait until the gasket is fixed?

    • @MikeNSX
      @MikeNSX 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      IMO, if the car is running ok, I would wait on changing the plugs. If it's not running ok, change the plugs but try to get to the seal as soon as you can. I don't think the oil creates too much of a problem to the plugs or ignition unless it's a lot getting up to the wire height. So frankly, if you are really on a budget (be that time or money...) you can probably just suck the oil out and see how long it takes for it to come back. It could be a very slow leak and make it a year between cleaning it out.

I'm trying to find a rack that can carry a 16 foot inflatable boat, only weighs 100 pounds, but at freeway speeds, I know that would exert a lot more stress. • @MikeNSX
      @MikeNSX 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This takes a bit of effort to install but combined with the factory roof rack (or any roof rack) it would easily handled your 16 foot inflatable boat. That said, not sure how hard it would be to lift it up there... I have been moving 16' trex boards myself. I forget what I had in the video but I ended up making the tops of the bed rails level with the truck rack so it's super easy to put most things up there. I've grown to love the whole setup (and although I obviously don't care....it makes my wussy truck a bit more macho...)

    • @MikeNSX
      @MikeNSX 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@josephbenge8707I don’t feel that is entirely accurate and certainly not on cost. I actually started with the plan for the 1025R. The quote new with attachments was over $30k (I think $20k+ base). This X machine by itself was $7500 new. With attachments just shy of $10k into it. My buddy who has a 1025R is the one that convinced me to get the excavator due to the specific tasks I need to do initially (long trenches close to the house). He felt the 1025R was not as easy to manage for this task (it will do it but harder to maneuver and you need more space due to its size). All that said, I agree that the 1025R has many other uses and its frankly a great machine. I fully plan to get one but even used the are $15k+ 3:41 base if 2019 or newer with low ish hours. Being super money conscious I would have bought this without attachments, run all these trenches and then sold it to then buy the 1025R. I still have more trenches to do but when done that may be my plan. I bought a Gorilla cart for my Lawn tractor to move dirt because that is one place the X isn’t good. I can load it but it brutal to drive any distance. The 1025R would be like a Cadillac in comparison (I really can’t wait to get…)

Issue mentioned in this video was not due to a weld it was just due to a bad grease fitting.

    May I ask a question. I want to buy the UBolt Pro, however the back panel would interfere with our large door handle on our pivot door. I could get around that by installing the back panel upside down. So the holes would still align between front panel and back panel, however the battery compartment on the back panel would be down the bottom, instead of up the top. Do you know if technically there would be any issues with doing this? Thanks

    • @MikeNSX

      I’m trying to understand how exactly you are trying to execute your task. This video shows how the unit installs. I think you could do it upside down but the lock would then be upside down also (I don’t think you can install one side up and one side down). Not sure this answers your question. Sounds like you may need to purchase locally, see if you can do what you’re saying and if not return in damaged.

    Is this a new machine? It doesn't look old but not new either. Drill and tap the threads for the next size up zerk. This is a fairly simple thing and the investment in a few things and an hour will save you from premature failure of pins and bushings. As far as the partially welded ring- its not supposed to contain grease, It's only a protective ring. Sounds to me like the zerk fitting isn't taking grease. I wouldn't mess with the fitting, just replace it. If it still won't take grease then there's a blockage behind the fitting on the inside. Could be it was never properly drilled out. If they don't send you a new seat, just get a good seat cover after you tape the hole. The seat cushion on mine is a wreck, but you'd never know it because I got a nice seat cover! Tube of grease every 8 hrs on the clock or the turntable will start to rock

    The ring that is only tacked doesn't need to be fully welded as it is only there to protect the grease fitting from being torn off by excavation debris. If there is grease leaking around the fitting, you may want to put pipe dope on the threads. Depth of threads on the fittings is not really an issue as long as you have a couple of threads engaged...it is not a high pressure situation. Obviously, the seat would benefit from being changed or repaired. Gorilla Tape made for the exterior works great for such a repair. Hope this helps.

    • @MikeNSX

      If I follow you, you are saying the treads are in the boom vs the “boss” as I called it? If I have grease coming out of them is this correct? I follow your thought, basically you are stating the ring is just there to keep the fitting from getting smashed. Makes sense but I’m confused as to how the grease is coming out as the fitting is seated well in that location. I’ll disassemble and look closer. I’m also working with the company so we will see where it goes. They do respond quickly which is great. So far I’m happy with them.

    • @MichelClavette
      @MichelClavette 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MikeNSX Yes, threads on the boom itself, not the ring which is just a protector. Like @VTKingdomsawing stated, there maybe an issue with the grease channel. You can remove the pin and see if grease goes through. Good luck with the seller. I have an EM15 and love it!

      @MikeNSX 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Go there and search the criteria I mentioned. I’ll have to ask someone else I know with the game to make sure visible. My buddy got it but we are friends so it’s a bit different process. -Mike

I simply know if it works on the bench test, you’re good and no point installing prior. It kinda odd but has been fine since.

    hi there, I've had the same problem and I've been using Ultraloq Bolt pro (x2) almost 3 years ,,,mechanically, programatically have no problem after enrolling finger, passcode etc. and sometimes the fingerprint reader not working that requires finger orientation change during the scan..etc...EXCEPT the WIFI unlock nor the magic shake NEVER WORK LoL ...My goal was letting my teenages coming home wihtout using the key - and it achieved that goal. However, now there is another Smart Lock on the market, Switchbot Smart lock ,,seems to work well ,,check it out...If one of my Ultraloq broken I would replace it with SwitchBot smart lock 100% --- check it out!

  • @MikeNSX
    @MikeNSX 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Summary: After I got a 3rd one which also didn't work I bench tested all three (off the door but linked by the lock/unlock shaft) and was able to get all 3 to work. Unfortunately, I don't have root cause. All I can say is do the following: With batteries in reset with the pin hole under the lock, pull the batteries, delete the unit off the app, then delete the app, then start all over but on a bench test / on a table. Do not put the lock in the door until the bench test clears, once it does, that one time setup sustains itself. I can't explain it but I'm at least up and running again. IMO, even if you buy this lock new, you should bench test before ripping your door apart. Once it works, carry on as for whatever reason, it holds it's setup.

    Couple questions. 1 Which model do you have ? Is it the one with the bridge or the one that does not have a bridge. 2 Do you have the Wifi and your Bluetooth enabled on your Phone while setting up the lock? I had both on for the 2 I setup

    • @MikeNSX
      @MikeNSX 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The one without the Bridge so no WiFi. My 2nd replacement one (3rd in total) did the same thing that makes me believe the setup has a gap. I’m going to pull all the locks out, place on the floor with no latch hardware and walk though piece by piece. I just wish the company knew had an answered. I’ve become there tech support.

    Very interesting product. I'm considering a Santa Cruz as I've sold my truck and it seems to be all I would need. Have you had any issues? Looks like a 2.5T engine from the emblem. As you have the band saw you could have cut the drop edge off the 4 pieces you didn't use thereby making the parts flush with the rail. The rubber gasket piece would still fit. Just a thought. What is your fuel mileage loss with those rails installed? Sorry about all the questions.

    • @MikeNSX
      @MikeNSX 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not following on the band saw and cutting drop edge on pieces I didn’t use unless you mean the cross rails. In that case, yes, I could have made it work. Mileage I’m like 50% highway and I average like 19 MPG which isn’t great but between the city driving and then the rails on the top and back, it a good amount of drag. Most I’ve hit with all that on is about 23 MPG. Problems. Just one but it was significant. I mention in my review at the very end. One day a bunch of warning lights came on. To make a long story short they had the car a month and changed 2 engine harnesses and a sensor. Was under warranty but off warranty I suspect 4-8k repair. No issue since. That was at like 8k miles. I know I’m not the only one but appears a limited issue.

      @@MikeNSX I was relating to the 4 bases you didn't use. Cut them to make flat. The rubber gaskets you cut the alignment pins off would then work, covering about 2/3 of the bottom. That's sorta what I expected as to mileage drop. I know racks really affect aerodynamics. Sorry to hear about your issue. I've mostly heard about Dual Clutch Transmission problems. I understand the non-turbo uses a regular automatic. Thanks for your reply.

      @@judih.8754 Ah, got it. I could have but those bottom pieces are real metal as opposed the the aluminum extrusions. Would probably not have been able to cut them. I’m concerned about the DCT in general but no issue currently. I wish it was Torque converter. Bought the extended warranty for that reason actually.
