New Cycle just released in early access today (01/18/2024). It gave me Frostpunk vibes so I decided to give it a shot. Overall, I think it is an enjoyable game! There is also an automation element similar to Factorio in the late game, which I discovered while editing the video. Definitely looking forward to getting far enough into the game to experience that.

    This is very good for when you are just building to make things work while waiting and farming stuff to make things look good later. But I ain't gonna lie I am torn between efficiency and aesthetics. Why would they require you to build private bed-chambers for your staff, in a game where you're constrained by space and time. The poor blokes with the farthest sleeping areas are gonna waste 1hr just getting out of bed and walking to the dining area. It makes me have to micro-manage their schedules to make sure they are eating and recreating on time.

    Not sure if you are still playing the game or wanting to make youtube videos anymore, but there is a new update out that brought some big changes to how you level up mages. In the past couple updates we've gotten things like greenhouses and flying brooms. I loved your tips videos.

    Thanks for the video ❤ very useful tips~ after playing MoM for a bit I feel like the lack of tutorials is a means to figure out how the gamer approaches the games. Just to see how well people are able to figure things out on their own, and what unique approaches they may go about using what tools are available to them for a solution. Example I went through was medical beds. Didn't know you could cure insomnia terror, etc. so I ended up retiring them in place of other students that seemed competent enough. Pros and cons cause I have some powers at hand I didn't before and vise versa. Another would be research when certain things (like plants) require a certain lvl and there are no notifications before researching those lvls. Main thing I'm getting at is we're guinea pigs willing to go through their experiments so they can refine the final adaption to the best of their abilities for what seems to work for the majority of that collective.

    I enjoy your use of group dynamic logic and scheduling it completely negates the wolfkin eating hours scheduling problems( as they prefer live prey so nothing from a chest, always a hunt before the meal). Also prioritizing the ghost higher for hauling as it is now the only thing they can be best at, except maybe also warding. Looking forward to seeing more interesting groups in the future, for example after setting up sleeping and dancing on demand the teachers will automatically default to tasks if there are no students to teach. PS: Check the requirements for the hermitage now that the room reqs are randomized, maybe you can get better than 400% of level 1 on research using people other than the ghost.

      I have a few! Have your nature mages work during the night so they can harvest shrooms. Schedule 4 blocks of recreation time as 2 sets of 2, about 10-12 hours apart. Make a specific schedule for hungry mages (I do this in my most recent let’s play episode)

    I came back to the game with this patch and I'm really liking it. For me the 'no scrolls for research' is the best change. Before I brought in a lot of students just to grind them into scrolls and headstones. Fun for a minute, but not so much in the main gameplay loop.

    Honestly for me, the Arcane Scrolls change is the biggest thing! I dont really care for difficulty settings in games, but that Arcane Scrolls seems like a big change to how grindy the research can feel. But I do hope now that they have these difficulties figured out, they focus more on adjusting the costs for certain items (like when you need a bunch of Thorntooth, or needing sinew for so many things) and adding more end-game/late game content.

    Lol, those roof decorations killed me too. I missed them when I was building my Atelier. But it was even worse for me because I wasn't farming sporecaps! Which showed me the sinew bottleneck! I need to go ahead and farm those Anemones and stuff too. Edit: LOL! And seems you did too. :D Please dont tell me you're gonna stick with that design though! LOL, not going to be able to have that hallway up top anymore.

    Gotta say, I know its more efficient to builder smaller rooms, but I just cant do it!! I like to give them more space to satisfy my own visual aesthetic and too appreciate the designs they made for all the rooms! Super excited to see what they did for all the specialized classrooms. I haven't bothered with the private bedchambers or Salle a Manger since everyone is already great with conviction, but maybe the T3 wand will force me to. Great seeing how you did things differently! Helps to see what is possible. I'm not playing on the hard mode though either, so perhaps things might change if I do that.

    So I've finally caught up to this in my own playthrough, and yeah it SUCKS that the ONLY way to get hallowlily is from graves. Not only do you need that for a lot of good stuff, but its legit ridiculous to have to kill people just to farm this one thing. And what makes it worse is that its 'better' if you kill fresh students, since they dont have any death saves, UGH. Dark sht. Also it feels like the 'end game' is just not finished or not thought out. I guess this game is still in early access? But sheesh, there's almost no point in doing certain research later on, and certainlly no reason to get an advanced or any of the specialized classrooms. I guess I'll see if this changes once I make lvl 3 wands, but sheesh. Also also, the resources you need for those better potions (and other materials) is just ridiculous. Why so much thorntooth and such? And yeah, scrivening is wayyyyy too expensive. To the point where it makes no sense whatsoever to even do it. And why is sinew becoming Such a bottleneck?! I feel like there should be more ways to generate it, or even just to use something other than that resource for so many things. Somebody said it before but I'd LOVE a freaking teleport item as well!! Really hope they fix this stuff. Even though I'm complaining, I do so out of love! I really enjoy this game!! Hoping they add more interesting stuff, not just make things harder, because I enjoy just making all the rooms and stuff!

      I can’t agree more, I have just about all the same thoughts/concerns as you! I do think they are working on some of these issues though. Like since this video went out, they made it so you get a good amount of hollowlily from some battles. The game is still in early access and the devs do seem to be listening to and implementing feedback , which I love to see!

    Wait, is Isolated not possible by just making it part of its own foundation or something? At least that's what I was thinking, but havent tested it. Kinda messed up if you gotta lock a mage there lol. Guess that means you gotta build a whole ensuite for them or something. Or have your ghost stay there.

    Covid is terrible. Had it twice now, the second time it was easier tho. It just feels so much more different then regular flus. Glad you recovered. Also yeah, I noticed in this game that balancing out workload with resource income is incredibly annoying even with correct schedules and priorities. Theyre just too slow, even a very high tier Nature mage take a while.

    Gotta say, really dont understand the recreation thing. It often says 'craving recreation' even when they are definitely scheduled and even when I schedule it out in like 3 spots throughout the day. Idk if there's a better way to either 1) tell how fast people lose their recreation (it seems to be faster than the other other stats), or 2) Some way to see what the optimal recreation schedule is for each person. Perhaps I can try that hungry schedule trick with recreation?!

      I like to do 2 sets of 2 recreation bars, about 12 hours apart from each other, don’t really have issues when I do it that way even when they miss recreation time for some reason (too far away when rec time starts or maybe they were battling) Also having rec time right after they wake up works great if you have bedrooms near rec area, saves travel time!

    How do you store the croa bodies? Mines always stays on the floor, even when I try to prioritize their refinement, I always have a bunch of corpses lying around. They don't ever seem to store them in a chest even though the chests seems to have the ability to store them? Or maybe they dont? But then why can you check that in the properties? I just dont get it.

      I don’t know if you can store them. You mainly want to deal with the bodies asap so they don’t spawn spectral croa. So either refine in midden jelly or use the destroy command.

    "I dont think this game has a tone of challenge" He says right after almost getting obliterated :P Idk, I do enjoy this game, but I also get frustrated (usually in a good way) trying to figure out how to survive and thrive. I feel like the game is plenty challenging, and I havent even tried the relentless mode!

      LOL You got me there 😂 I have played a lot of games like this one in the past, so I have a good understanding of the underlying systems and the basics of managing a colony. I sometimes forget that not everyone has played Rimworld and Oxygen Not Included for thousands of hours 😅 Glad you’re enjoying the game though, I really enjoy it too!

    Congrats on the close beta entry. One room I've yet to see anyone complete is the mages hermitage, some talk about waiting for a teleporter before trying to make it. It seems that dedicating the ghost founder to the hermitage actually an easy way to meet the isolated room requirement. I figure by having the room ready to go, except for the path into it still working, prioritizing the founder to urgently do research and then removing the doorway/stairwell to the room while he is working. That would make the level 1 founder do research at the level of a lightning 4 mage and you'd not have to let him out until all the research trees are done. It would be interesting to be able to dedicate a living level 4 mage to the hermitage, getting research at level 16+ mage equivalent but you'd need to stock up large amounts of food for them in the hermitage along with a bed, enchantophone, dining table, and chest for the food(, and maybe both living and ghost would need a magic lantern too). I suppose making a priority level 4 tiny chest just outside and a level 5 tiny chest inside the hermitage to build up large stockpiles of their food and periodically reopening the path to the hermitage for the haulers could work. If the teleporter is added and doesn't count as a path to or from an isolated room, as many seem to be awaiting, then I feel that would actually go against the austere solitary nature needed to be called an isolate hermitage. So, if you can test this hermitage idea in that attic like room about the outbuilding to the right of the school, I'd love to know it can be done without "cheating" using teleporting mechanisms. I do look forward to those teleporting mechanisms for other pathing solutions, I just think they should count as paths in/out of rooms themselves. As to the ladder bug, I believe the floor gets in the way, as you added more ladder upward then put in a floor. I've see it be a problem on other play throughs.

    Dang this is incredible! I really need to start using potions and unlock that haste potion! Do you have tips for when is the best time to fight? Or early level combat? At the early stages i just havent had any strong wind mages and even fire is just okay. I get more bang with 1 or 2 dark mages. And does that high power/HP/MP just come with lvl 3 wands? Im only just getting into lvl 2 and its nowhere near that!!

      For early fights with level 1 wands, I would suggest Earth/Nature in the front row. Earth mage as tank, Nature mage to buff the back row with power. In the back row, you can use whatever you have left - Wind, Fire, Lightning, and Water are all pretty good back there. Extra HP/MP/Power typically comes from trials that they complete when they're students. They are pretty random though, so you might have to go through a few students until you get one with some good trials. Hope this helps, good luck!
