    I always use it with 1/4. I sometimes think about using with 1/8d but at stage it’s not practical. Just tapping on ctrl I think is the intuitive way of using with delay 😊

    Hi Tian, first at all, thanks for videos about GT6. I followed every step showed in your video but when I switch from rhythm to lead to play a solo, the volume doesn't change despite rhythm level is 60 and min lead level is 70 after using pedal assign like the video...could you help me??? Thanks in advance

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hi there, the lead level (70) I’ve set here is not dramatic but you can increase it if you want more boost. I know I’m stating the obvious but just ensure that you are in fact engaging the toe switch to enter the lead state of the preset… You should be hearing a gain boost, reverb and delay as well as some more level. Of course, these are just guidelines and you can adjust the parameters to adjust the sound to suit your own preferences.

      Normally i don’t feed the trolls but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt in case English isn’t your first language. The operative word in the title is “Preview”. Preview means it shows clips of what you can expect within the tutorial.. all the sounds in this “preview” are from the Boss GT10 and if you took a moment to read the description, you would understand that all of the individual tutorials can be found on my channel, amongst many for other Boss multi-fx.

      Each patch has a BPM in the master settings. You can set this globally or per patch and then when you want to use tap tempo for time based effects, you just set what interval you want which you will find when you rotate the data encoder past the milliseconds.

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Absolutely you can! I would recommend utilising the four cable method which Will allow you to use the effects in the amps effects loop as well as utilise effects such as the Wah, Compressor and EQ before the amplifier. If you’ve never used this method before, it has been well documented, just search.

    Hey Tian, I tried to search internet with advice on my problem but your videos touch close to what I am trying to do. Maybe you could help me! Essentially I would like to control the looper externally. Because of the funky way that the looper works (you have to use control function, instead of assign setting), I can not simply assign it to switch record and stop recording to an external button. I am able to control pretty much every function now via midi, just not the looper. Essentially what I am trying to do is to Start record via midi so it is synced up to a click on Ableton and then Ableton is also hitting stop record so I can get a perfect loop controlled via midi. This would be such a beautiful function and I just can't believe that it could not be allowed :O Any advices would be great as I already spent hours to try to figure it out. Not sure if you tried using midi to control the device but the problem would be similar with an external control switch like you are using in this video. Any chance you tried assigning your external controler to control the looper? Thanks! EDIT: Just found out from the manual (static.roland.com/.../gx-100.../en-US/index.html...) that it is actually way easier to control it with an external footswitch as you actually have the CTRL3 or CTRL4 option in the Control Function. My problem is that I am trying to have it triggered by CC1 via midi. I thought that it will be a similar problem but I was wrong. I guess this problem only applies to MIDI control! What I am missing is the ability to use MIDI in the Control Function menu. Unless there is a different way to do that.

      The fact that the Tank G is capable of using cabinet impulse responses means that the tonal possibilities are endless so I have no doubt that you’ll be able to achieve any sound you want. My knowledge of the Arctic Monkeys is that the sound is quite clean, chimey and often ambient so you would start with one of the clean amps and use some reverb but it’s not a very complicated sound.

    • @tianjay

      I don’t have a Hot Rod to try it however I imagine you would connect the output of the GX100 directly into the power amp in of the Hot Rod. I´m eyeing the GX100 and do have some doubts regarding its funtionality. Your videos are a great value for someone who considers this unit and I thank you for making these. Hope you can help me out on these three doubts I have regarding the unit: 1- Using the "whammy" effect on the expression pedal, can we assign a footswitch to toggle on/off the whammy on the expression pedal inside a preset already configured for wah on the pedal? Like using a Digitech whammy pedal and having available wah and whammy on the same preset? 2 - Using manual mode, alongside the footswitches 1, 2, 3, 4 and C1 can I assign footswitches bank up/bank down to also be on/off effects? 3 - Is there a list of all GX100 effects available somewhere? Appreciate all and any help Tian Jay or anybody really. 🙏

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay หลายเดือนก่อน

      hi Ricardo, thanks for your message… To address question number one, there’s multiple ways to do this, you could set the expression switch to toggle between the whammy and Wah so when one is on the other is off and then use my active range settings as shown in a previous video to bring the effects level of each respective effect from 0 to 100 as soon as you move the pedal. Alternatively, you could assign one of the switches to toggle between whammy and wah. 2. Yes, once in manual mode, all the switches are freely assignable. 3. I would imagine this list exists on the boss global website but you can download the user manual which will also have this list. Essentially, the GX 100 is incredibly flexible, even more so than some flagship models such as the quad cortex which has very poor switch implementation. for the money, it’s hard to go wrong. I hope I’ve answered your questions, good luck, cheers!

    I have this problem when I plug my guitar into BOSS GT 10 and then directly into a mixing board, and increase the volume on the processor to a maximum and on the mixer to a certain extent so it's loud enough, there is this weird high-pitched noise occuring when I play my guitar even though I've warltched your video on setting noise supression and set it myself.

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay หลายเดือนก่อน

      it may be that you’re overloading the mixer inputs? are you checking the metering to make sure you’re not pushing it too hard.. try reducing the gain and raising the output

    • @vojinljubisavljevic4036
      @vojinljubisavljevic4036 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tianjay That's a good idea. I'll check the metering the next time I play. Are you referring to the gain that is adjusted in the processor or on the mixer, cause the mixer I use has a gain knob beneath the line input. And when you say output, do you mean the output adjustment in the processor itself?

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ It’s just a suggestion, but it could be digital feedback or aliasing from the GT10 hitting the input of the mixer too hard.. this can result in a high pitched noise. Generally i would start by setting the mix master at unity (0) with the channel slider down. Then adjust the channel gain knob so that it doesn’t peak (clip). Normally there would be a LED light that indicates when this happens… Play your loudest sound and ensure that the LED doesn’t light up. Adjust the gain until it does and then back it off just below and then you can bring the channel slider up to your desired output level .

    Hello Tian Jay. Great to hear an Aussie doing gear reviews. You have certainly made this into a very useful music tool. The AC/DC rhythm & lead sound epic. Great guitar playing! Especially on Cult of Personality!!! You’ve been playing that for a long time. I am looking to set one up for my daughter who needs a simple battery operated pedal for acoustic guitar effects while busking into a battery PA speaker. Do you think I’d be able to tweak some decent acoustic guitar sounds out of this thing? Thanks, Mark.

      Hi Mark, thanks for the great feedback! Yes, this would be great for acoustic guitar, although you’d probably bypass the amp simulation altogether and just use it for the on-board effects and set up a bunch of presets, four of which she could access instantly and then have other banks of different effects if she wanted but I would say for acoustic, having a pallate of basic effects like reverb, delay, chorus would be mostly what she would need. She could also access the tuner, which would be handy.

    When you play a gig do you normally go through the PA as opposed to an amp?

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay หลายเดือนก่อน

      for me, it depends on the situation and the type of gig… Sometimes I run directly into the PA and just monitor through in ears or a fold back wedge, and sometimes I run directly into a power amp and cabinet but i always use app and cabinet simulations from whatever pedal/device I’m using.

    Great vidi! How do you go about changing delay and reverbs effects blocks so they bleed/ roll off into next patch when switching between patches?

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay หลายเดือนก่อน

      The last page on both the reverb and delay has a “carryover” parameter. This needs to be on however the carryover will only occur if the same effect is saved in the patch that you’re switching to.. for example, if Patch A has the Delay+ active, but Patch B has just the normal Delay effect, you won’t get carryover.. they both need to be Delay+ or both a different type.. the settings can be different, but the block has to be the same.

      @@tianjaythank you. Tried this just now but no luck. Still “simple delay in both patches” saved and carryover selected. Cuts out as soon as patch changed. Have you tried this and it worked?

      @paulauksztulewicz4803 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tianjayfigured it out. Entire effects block has to be identical, including amp types. Can just have them switched off. Otherwise, no go.

      what kind of trouble are you experiencing? Boss recently released a new version and new firmware so I would suggest the first thing is to update everything and see how you go because if there were issues before, they may be resolved now.

      @tianjay I already updated the pedalboard and Boss tone Studio and nothing... My problem is when I open Boss Tone Studio, it does not link with the pedalboard. I always get the following message: "Communication error, try again".

    Works even with my UA Lion Amp pedals 👍 You can then use all the effects of the Boss GX100 with a great amp model. I set one foot-switch to toggle between the send/rtn and the amp model effect. In this way I can run through different amps by pressing a man foot-switch. You could do this also with a div/mix block but I simply assigned two toggle actions to the foot-switch (e.g. MAN1)

    Great video, many thanks, you are a Godsend right now, it is taking quite a lot of headwork to get this pedal running and I'm old. 😁 I bought my GX100 2 days ago and was previously using a ME 90. On that I could blend using the expression pedal between a clean sound and an overdriven sound. I found that very useful for certain songs I play and I can see what you are saying with regards switching between two channels with a DIV/MIX switch on the GX100 but how could I do that with the expression pedal. To blend between the two differings sounds and a mixture between the two dependant on pedal travel. If it is even possible. I can't see how to do it.

    • @tianjay
      @tianjay หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is actually quite easy to do… Just run 2 Amps in parallel, one distorted and one clean and then assign the volume of each amp to the expression pedal and just set the minimum and maximum settings opposite so that one amp is at 100 at the minimum whereas the other is at zero. You could play around with the minimum and maximum values so that you get the taper that you want.

      @@tianjay Hi I'm sorry to bug you and I thought I had it done but it turned out only one side was going up and down but the distortion part of the divide was disguising the clean. Which was ok for that sound but when I tried 2 clean sounds opposing each other it obviously became a problem. I have tried to put a volume control on both sides of the divider with the opposing pedals set opposite to each other. So when one is going up the other is going down. I've set that in the pedal parameters with each pedal but they don't work together. One will go up and down but the other wont even though it works in that way if you take away the the opposing pedal. So I am stuck at the moment. An advice thanks.
