It was a damn good album, especially the title cut. It was a hell of a lot better than what ended up in the movie.

I was under the impression the Black Album was abruptly cancelled just before release because he recieved a letter from a man named Gregory, While Prince never publicly mentioned Gregory's full name in the context of the letter, later accounts, including from biographers and fans piecing together the story, identify him as Gregory Allen Howard. who some believe sent Prince a letter in the late 1980s, around the time "The Black Album" was about to be released. The letter described a spiritual or metaphysical narrative where The It mentioned a dream involving Jimi Hendrix and the concept of a "soul baby," suggesting some form of reincarnation or spiritual continuation of Hendrix's legacy through Prince or his music. Gemini is probably Prince. He used the name for his split half Joker/Half Batman character in the Batdance video. If you look at the liner notes on the Batman album, the Batdance lyrics are written like a screenplay with the different lines being attributed to different characters. Prince's vocals are attributed to the character Gemini, so it's definitely a name he used.

I got the first one with the Bolland cover. Also the Three chains of gold one. Also got the Rock&roll one. Prince in comics is also in my collection. Now there's a French graphic novel that came out october 2023 titled 'Nous n'irons pas à Paisley Park' wchich translates as 'We are not going to Paisley park'. Being Dutch I have the translated to Dutch version. It's basically a roadtrip story about a Prince collector/music record dealer who receives news of Prince's passing while in the hospital. Once out of the hospital he embarks on a mission together with one of his most loyal customers to get the one thing missing in his collection, the tapes of Prince's collaboration with Miles Davis.....off to Paisley park and its vault! It's an ode to the (Minneapolis) funk, in the book you'll see Miles Davis, Snoop Dogg, Kevin Smith, Michael Jackson, James Brown and more, all against the background of Trump's first election. As far as I know this isn't translated to English (yet). The author is Thomas Kotlarek, artwork by Jef.

This is my super favorite album. I love it when Prince does Jazz-Funk, and ballad with his pure falsetto.... 🥰 I often play it at home.

On the George Clinton version P-Funk member Gary Shider sings the second verse. at least he does on version i have. it's real cool.

Prince made a trio of perfect albums more or less by himself. No one to edit the time of the songs, no one to edit the lyrics, sharpen the melodies. And then came Lisa & Wendy. They took him to a higher place. He apparently didn't like it & they were pushed out. Sure, he turned out some insanely good singles in the early 90's, but he changed. Again and agin. First he chased genres he should not have (Prince doing rap and New Jack Swing? NAH) but something (again) changed and he recorded some really good music with 3rd Eye Girl. And I'll always play his cover of Creep from Coachella. And his Super Bowl halftime show? And dang, his guitar work during the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame when they honored George Harrison. THAT was magic.

Am I the only person who actually paid for that plastic box in a retail music store with three discs inside? I thought I had won the lottery. And then I heard the music. I probably should have kept it, but at that point I was so sick of Prince and his BS that I sold it to a pawn shop for just about what I paid for it. The songs listed on the labels didn't match the songs on the discs (much less the labeling on the discs.) At that point in my life spending almost 75 bucks on this "collector's item" was my last straw. Of course I came around. I've been snapping up all the remastered, deluxe re-releases, spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on really good quality sounding material.

I still have "O(+> Interactive!" It was included in a box set with 2 other Windows games/demos. I saw the symbol through the packaging and immediately grabbed it! It was on sale for something between $5 to $10. I put it in a jewel case and discarded the other 2 games/demos! I was expecting a game similar to the "Michael Jackson Moonwalker" arcade or Sega Genesis game. Needless to say, I was disappointed. However, for what the disc actually is, a sort of Prince cd-rom encyclopedia, it's ok for being "interactive" (pun intended)!🤣✌️💜

It took a while 4 this album 2 sit with me, but it is a very good album. Has a cloudy/rainy Day vibe though.

I love this album. It's took years for me to appreciate it in it's entirety. But its a masterpiece. Way Back Home and the Affirmations are brilliant.

I would’ve been in complete heaven 💜 You give a great breakdown of the tracks on this sublime and intimate project. I love how it closes where you hear him close the piano and walk away. Awesome album.

Those claims about abandoning his black roots were made during purple rain ATWIAD and in the MTV 85 interview he said it himself. That he was accused of…..blah blah blah but that ATWIAD was a funky album

Batdance was pure genius He recorded it in a few hours and sent it to warners and told them they were gonna hate it and because it was a very long song not intended to be aired on the radio. Warners loved it.
