The Crystal Ball album is the collection that I would recommend 2 any1 unaware about Prince' abilities in order 2 showcase his full array of musical talent.
Great video as always. Stray of the world was used at the glam slam club for the 1993 Glam Slam Ulysses stage-show. A song that divides me and my prince fan friends….some love it….me….not really
Love the Crystal Ball set in general, but disc 2 is my favorite. This came out as I was going back to my rock roots and really got in to pop punk after this. Wouldn't come back to full Prince appreciation again until 3121. I still played the 3 discs to death, and found that I kept coming back to different songs later. It was almost too much to take in at one time with so much music and so much variety. I barely listened to and didn't appreciate The Truth at all until many years later (I thought Animal Kingdom was dumb and missed out on the other 11 songs being amazing).
The video for "Interactive" was an Easter Egg in the PC game "O(+> Interactive." Well, it's not really a game but more of a Prince cd-rom encyclopedia! I still have it!✌️💜
Prince made a trio of perfect albums more or less by himself. No one to edit the time of the songs, no one to edit the lyrics, sharpen the melodies. And then came Lisa & Wendy. They took him to a higher place. He apparently didn't like it & they were pushed out. Sure, he turned out some insanely good singles in the early 90's, but he changed. Again and agin. First he chased genres he should not have (Prince doing rap and New Jack Swing? NAH) but something (again) changed and he recorded some really good music with 3rd Eye Girl. And I'll always play his cover of Creep from Coachella. And his Super Bowl halftime show? And dang, his guitar work during the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame when they honored George Harrison. THAT was magic.
Crystal Ball is SOOOOOO underrated!! It's definitely in my top 5 favorite Prince albums!

There is an other version of "Crucial" that I think is better than the two released version. It's the one with Eric Leeds on sax solo.
