I think a cool video idea would be comparing the biggest/most unlikely upsets since 2000 using some sort of calculation like you did for the best and worst teams vids, which were all extremely fascinating.

SMU was doing what so many other large schools were doing at the time - making illegal inducements to players. The problem for SMU was their cheating actually led to significantly more wins and some titles along the way, so that attracted attention. If they were winning only 7-8 games, most folks would have turned a blind eye. Also, the fact that SMU got caught up in a newspaper war in Dallas between the Times-Herald and the Dallas Morning News meant that those newspapers were trying to break a big scandal to get clout, so it was easy for SMU to be investigated, locally.

Academics can do more to hamper football success than help it in the new millennium. To be fair I'd say Sonny Dykes might have had more success at Cal had the academic reigns not been pulled so tight after the Tedford era. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out in Berkeley with the fallout of realignment and new younger chancellor.

You need to know that more than funding just for renovations and such, TITLE 9 was the main factor in not being able to bring it back. Since we have to “let the girls play”, WSU would have had to add an equal amount of funding/scholarships/facilities to meaningless women’s sports that no one watches and that don’t bring in any revenue for the school.

Nicely done. Suggest more acknowledgement that when their stadiums opened in 1920s, they were among the largest in the nation. Interesting that local media at the time reported crowd of 98,000 at Berkeley. Would like to know this historian's take on largest crowd at Stanford. I don't see an official recognition on the Stanford website. I recall that 91,000 some was reported in 1970 for game v. USC. I do join others in criticism that narrator uses "san Francisco" as a reference to both schools...could not "the Bay" or "Bay area" suffice? But great job.

It’d cost a lot to bring it back. If you bring back football you have to start other sports as well. Have to have a woman’s sport start up to be title IX compliant and the stadium I imagine is fairly run down. Used to go there every year for band competitions but football was still going on then. I’d love to see WSU have football. Always will love my Jayhawks but living in Hutchinson means I could take a quick drive and go watch them play

i feel like if they somehow had the main character also see a painting of pyramid head like in the historical society the way james did, it would feel a little less shoehorned in, but it seems like konami just thinks silent hill must have pyramid head no matter what. they could've at least picked a character that would make some sense to transcend other people's perception of the town, like valtiel or the incubus or something, but unfortunately konami doesn't care about making good interesting games. they care about money, and they think pyramid head equals money

1995 Nebraska is the best. That “weak” Big 8 had 4 of the top 10 teams in the country (Nebraska beat the three others). Half the conference was in the top 10, how is that “weak”? Unlike 2022, Florida actually deserved to be in the title game, they were a great team… Nebraska was just insanely better than everyone else. TCU was a decent team that got lucky a lot, they had no business in the natty.

It is interesting to note that Cal and Stanford are the best in tons of other sports (water polo, rugby, etc), but sports that no one watches. So I wonder if the athletes for these sports know that there’s no money to be made in these sports so they aim to get a good education, or if there’s another factor that draws great athletes in other sports to these schools
