@peterjaimez1619 i opened a question in the youtube support community. Let's see if we get a reply!
Reportedly my grandfather used to fight with head buts, actually if never occurred to me to practice it. Very smart of you, if you do out carefully. Cheers
I enjoyed that tune a lot! Really cool! Love the vibe and the message! God bless!
@chrisdiperi8062 Thanks brother! I was so bad at playing 6-string that I made that little 3-string cigar box and now that's all I play. To quote Dirty Harry, "A man has got to know his limitations."
Awesome! This workout looks like it would have me gasping for air! Good work Sir
@@Traps510 Thanks much!
Great tempo/control of your body. Doing exercises with a slower cadence/technique makes them much more challengening as well as more effective for the muscles targeted, rather than loose bouncing form
Also, a million times safer when you lift and lower the body instead of dropping, bouncing/throwing
Humble pie 🎂 indeed, the problem is that we vomit it 😣 that is a very powerful drill 😀 . Cheers
What a great visualisation when throwing the hook. "Slamming the door"
@@stevebledsoe71 I know, right? I wish I could take credit for it, but i learned to teach it using that example from the immortal Mark Hatmaker!
@@Fr_Mitch Yeah Hatmakers a wealth of info. Do you sell your book in paperback? I'm not interested in digital type books or whatever they are called. Also if you can give me any referrals to books on the subject I'd be grateful. Thanks, I really enjoy the channel!!
@stevebledsoe71 I have trained with some of the greats (Renzo Gracie, Bill Wallace, Joe Lewis, et cetera et cetera) and Mark Hatmaker is the only one who made me feel like he could tear out my thigh bone and pick his teeth with it. Thank God he's one of the kindest, most caring fellas I've ever met, and it's a great honor to be an affiliated instructor in his program. Some of my books are in paperback, others are ebooks only I'm afraid. I prefer paper as well, but unfortunately it just really doesn't sell all that well, and so it is often not cost or time effective to create and market a paperback format if that makes sense. Thanks for your interest!
Hey Mitch is this supposed to be done in a circuit? Like timing how quick you can do a cirtian amount of rounds of the circuit?
@chrisdiperi8062 No set scheme necessary -- just get through it any way you can. When you run out of gas on an exercise, go to the next, and keep going till you get all the reps or the time runs out (these days we cut our constitutionals at 15 mins)
@@Fr_Mitch ok got it! Thank you for the clarification!
Hey Mitch do you have any ideas on how to make decent enough sandbags on a budget?
@chrisdiperi8062 Buy play sand at Home Depot, contractor-grade trash bags, and heavy-duty zip ties. Lay bags flat, unopened. Pour 10 lbs sand on top. Gather up, zip tie (pull tight with pliers), and trim excess. This makes them double thick. Wrap in duct tape if desired. Buy old backpacks and duffles from Salvation Army, yard sales, etc. and add as many 10 lb bags as needed. Military duffles work for heavy ones. Over 100 lbs you will probably want a pro bag like the Ironmind Tough-as-Nails bag. Happy lifting!
@@Fr_Mitch Awesome! Thank you. I'll try making up to a 100 lb. Bag using that method.
👍
Good workout idea. Ill try it soon. Love training with the floor bag!
Thanks! You may find some good stuff in these old videos from back in the day, but I can't stand by content prior to the 2021 rebranding. For best results, refer to the newer material. God Bless!
@@Fr_Mitch thanks for clearing that up and will do!
I should probably take down all of the old Cabal Fang videos, but I really don't want to, because I refuse to be one of those fake people who tries to hide past sins, sanitize history, cover up mistakes and pretend perfection. Cabal Fang was the name of the martial arts style and the Order of Seven Hills was the name of the club back in 2009. There was so much wrong with that project that in 2021 we decided to rebrand as Heritage Arts and make a clean break. When I wrote the pledge 15 years ago, I was struggling with my faith, and I wanted the pledge to work for everyone -- for atheists, agnostics, Christians, Muslims, Wiccans, anyone. We are a public charity, and we get all kinds out there. Legally, as a federally-recognized charity, we must serve the public. Now, ontop of that, as a Christian clergyman, I'm also called to love and serve all God's children. The funny thing is, even though I am not the same man now that I was when I wrote it (I entered seminary in 2017 and was ordained in 2023) the pledge still works for everyone, and we still use it (see below). I believe God steered me in writing it. Because the 4 great archangels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel) project us in all directions, and these are the places we cross ourselves; God is our higher power (even to those who do not know him!); we should always pray for protection against the assaults of the evil one; and the Latin (Ex Gladio Scientia means "From the Sword comes Knowledge") is amazing. When I originally wrote it, I intended it to mean that we learn about ourselves through fighting. But at the time I did not know that it also refers to the Sword of Discernment given to us by Christ (Heb 4:12, Matt 10:34-36). It's a great pledge for Christians and non-Christians alike, and I stand behind it: "To North, South, East, and West, to our higher powers and better selves, we ask and send our blessings; that we may train with sincerity, outside the influence of evil forces, and successfully embody the 5 virtues of Heritage rough and tumble: Wonder, Sagacity, Frugality, Indominability, and Fraternity. Ex Gladio Scientia. Huss!" God Bless!
I made myself a slip ball and i'm really having fun with getting some good work in with it. Thank you for the idea.I'll send you a picture sometime.
Hi Mitch that was an interesting blessing. Just curious, where does it originate? It reminds me of some new age type stuff. No offense. As a Christian I pray to the God of the bible and I know you do too so I'm just curious about where this type of blessing ritual stems from? Thank you and I love all your content! Chris
Hope you solve your technical problems 😀 and thank you for your effort. Cheers
@peterjaimez1619 After an hour doing research on the web I think i have it figured out -- whew! Thanks for watching!
Interesting drill, i suppose it can be done with a quarter, albeit the sound feedback would be very poor. Cheers
I've watched you from a distance, I will more regularly watch your channels. Your way of life is good.
@donworland Thanks so much, and God Bless!
Very interesting. You probably know that Cap. W. E. Fairbairn in his book: ALL-IN FIGHTING 1942, pag. 12 said the opposite. Context I suppose, and the use of surprise by the author of "Defendu" instead of changing blows in sparring or a fight. Cheers
@peterjaimez1619 Nice point. You're speaking of the devastating Fairbairn chin jab, which is an entirely different beast. To quote Fairbairn, "The blow is delivered upwards from a bent arm and only when close to your opponent. The distance the blow will have to travel will depend on the height of your opponent, but it will seldom exceed six inches." Chin jab is great if you're nose-to-nose but isn't applicable at boxing ranges. Hope this makes sense. Take care, thanks for commenting, and God Bless!
You can do it easy or you can do it right. Good presentation
Boooo booooooo
Another thought provoking video! Agree with what you say about paper note taking over digital! I cant remember much I read from online. I don't take enough notes though. BTW Been following your Indian Clubs tutorials with my newly acquired clubs. Its much harder than it looks but im feeling like im getting lots benefits from this already. Can't wait to take it further! God bless Fr Mitch, Greg.
#2--highly underrated
💥Good stuff‼️
This is great, thank you
If I can mention the serenity prayer: " give me serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, courage to change the things i can, and the wisdom to know the difference, amen. " Cheers
Your content and martial arts are excellent sir, respects from the UK.
Very nice, Guy Windsor (a HEMA, sword man) says that: "you should finish your training sessions healthier than when you started", cheers.
A very similar technique is used in Irish bare knuckle boxing.
Is that so? Tell me more! Make a video and share a link in your reply!
Do you mind if I ask what each of the volunteer positions is reliable for?
@LeomhannDearg Not sure what you mean Leo...are you talking about the distance learning program?

Also add in Mr AL Cases's Outlaw Karate and his Matrix Aikido Books.
Checked out Al Case's blog. Interesting! But he seems awfully certain...he uses the word "perfect" a lot. I am trying to cultivate a healthy fear of radical certainty because certainty is so great at fooling us into thinking something is wise when it's not. Thanks for sharing!
1800 views in one day. I'd say that is popular.
That was a very helpful video, thank you for making it.
👍
I have those very same gloves and have never seen anyone else wearing them until now. LOL! Please, carry on.
thats a very cool little gym you got yourself Sir. Old school to me means to not ignore wisdom that was passed down and putting principles before other stuff.
Thanks so much for your kind words, and for stopping by to see me!
Thanks for the wisdom
I agree with your advice about your wife. I was told by my priest during a talk to compliment something different about her everyday. That way you keep "noticing" her. I didn't think about the situational awareness aspect.
I think that's too simple an example of situational awareness. You probably love your wife enough to notice her clothes, and you already know what car she drives. Number plate? It's written down somewhere, for pity's sake.
How would we use the secret code B737 here without giving it away? Anyway, many people experience religion through multiple -even all four - P's but still become atheists…
Yes, the secret code was only good once for people -- but it was an enigma to bots and trolls! I'm intrigued: you believe that many people who have a fully-developed "4-P" understanding of religion still become atheists? Tell me more. Can you think of any exemplars I might know? I inclined to counter that many atheists sincerely believe they have a fully developed "4-P" understanding of religion when in fact all they have is Propositional understanding. There are many people who, let's say, have third-degree black belts who think they have a "4-P" understanding of fighting, despite having never been in a full contact fight. Two recent examples: Historian Tom Holland was an atheist with only a propositional understanding of Christianity who developed a 4-P understanding and joined the faith. Richard Dawkins is an atheist on the same trajectory, now currently at the stage of identifying as a "cultural Christian."
Looks like some more great ideas to try out. Finally ordered a set of Indian Clubs so looking forward to trying out all the techniques and tips from your videos on the topic!
These all make sense. I wouldn't call them "bizarre" at all.
Haha, well, unfortunately most folks have a very narrow definition of self-defense -- they don't see things like us @oldnatty61! Thanks for stopping by!
@@Fr_Mitch That's 'cuz the folks they follow got no clue. Thank GOD I got into it before the internet/youtube, and was lucky enough to discover and train under Hock. Dude turned the lights on for me.
@oldnatty61 My brother! Hock is great. His original Weapon X and Warpost videos are probably 30 years old and *still* worth their weight in gold.
@@Fr_Mitch I got 'em all and an old vcr that still works.
Other people will sometimes give you information that you didn't know just because they want to share their opinion about it.
👍
Loving the evolutionary psychology perspective, Im a big fan of Carl Jung's ideas & your use of birds as signs of..... for want of a better term "disturbance" in the force" is as ancient as it is wise here & now. Community is "our" self-defence, self-sufficiency by rugged individuals is precarious hardwork especially when accidents or ill health happen - so we are a social species. Ps come for the sandbags & creativity of training ..staying for the wisdom🙏
@garrenosborne9623 Thanks brother! Stay tuned, some really cool stuff in the pipeline!

@@Fr_Mitch I don’t live near you
Haha try any of that stuff when I just full on go in swinging! Martial arts don't work 😂
@user-ih6mx8lr9x Boxing is a martial art. So you claim you could easily defeat Tyson, Klitschko, or Mayweather? When someone asserts that something does not work which so obviously does, it usually indicates the speaker's denial of his own inadequacy, his resentment of others who are excellent, or both. You are not going to achieve greatness until you first admit that you need improvement. This same claim is common among atheists who say Christianity is a waste of time -- and yet atheists produce no saints, and the RCC is the largest non-governmental provider of health and human services on earth. This postmodern denialism and resentment is so tired and washed out. It elevates nothing, achieves nothing, loves nothing. It is the philosophy of resentment, hatred, and evil. Face the truth in all things and rise, perhaps even unto heaven.
I’m currently practicing the bracing and framing and rough and tumble strikes
The bigger they are, the more weight is on the foot and ankle. Nobody can build up their foot or ankle to where it doesn't scream pain when it gets stomped. If your aggressor can't run after you, you can run or skip away while taunting them. 😅
Another interesting video. Had never heard of the warpost until your previous video. Thanks for expanding on the idea. Always enjoy trying different activities and ideas for physical and mental resilience. Particularly enjoying old school training ideas as I get older. BTW found supplier that sells Indian Clubs here in Australia and am looking forward to implementing these back into training! Thanks again for the uploads Fr Mitch 🙂
@ghardi6324 You are most welcome sir! Take care, train safely, and God Bless!
The good Parkour practitioners, all practice progressively - kerbbing { improving their precisions standing jumps on roadside kerbs for distance & distance judgement} & ground level skills {especially rolling & impact taking preps} + alot of 3D tag games.. timeless kids games but instinctive training too. Loving your version of the dummy, ive made a few variations of the idea, but look forward to making your version too, thanks for the inspiration🙏
If I was a younger man with more time, Parkour would definitely be on my hobby list. I've always been fascinated by it! Thanks for your kind words, appreciate you stopping by!
Always practical, simple and frugal
Great pod, Mitch! I did basically the same thing with a 4" deep front pad to a 10 X 12 shed and I topped it with a thin 1/2" layer of regular concrete while the mudcrete was still wet. You wouldn't know it was a mudcrete job. The mudcrete was a little more wet than yours, and I didn't spend any time curing it with frequent wettings. It has been more than 5 years now, and it is still as good as when it was new.
