    The age old question of how to protect oneself and those we love. All good men face this question at some point in their lives. Thanks for your post(s), this is inspiration to make sure all training has a practical element to it. God bless!

    The idea that you can’t hit someone in the face without breaking your hand is simply not true. Could it happen yes, but I think it’s put out there that hitting someone in the face is the worse possible idea, that’s just not true.

      Do what you want Ricky, I'm not your Dad. I'm just a Rough 'n' Tumbler who saves his knuckles for necks, throats, heart, solar plexus, biceps, etc. Thanks for stopping by and God bless.

      Agreed and I've been doing various martial arts since I was in 6th grade and used my fists to hit the head and face in many real fights. Also, when it's someone who actually knows what he's doing is going to have that chin down. Another thing is doing grabs and holds must, MUST be done with opponents to learn because a piece of wood won't resist you or throw other strikes at you. There's great things about the wooden dummy and other stationary training implements but they don't hit back or move and therefore are extremely limiting if they're the primary method of training.

    The "War Post" training would be great for finding the sweet spot on a kukri but it's likely to damage weapons like a Fairbairn Sykes dagger. With those where you stick it is more important than how anyway.

    Ill be damned. Here I was ready to call out the shin conditioning on that.
    Expected some crazy bashing into tree trunk nonsense.
    Without access to kicking a heavy bag to properly condition shins, the light force applied multiple times would work to strengthen the bone over a long course of time. (Think Year plus)
    Its a home built wooden dummy similar to wing chun.
    Sorry, I geek out about this stuff haha.
    Color me impressed good sir!

    • @Fr_Mitch
      @Fr_Mitch  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks much! I'm not sure about increasing bone density -- lots of pro and con info out there, and not a lot of science -- but it does build callouses, inure you to discomfort, etc. 10 - 20 mins a day is my prescription. Have a super day and God Bless!

      @@Fr_Mitch True on that one haha. I had to wade through bad info for years.
      I just know what I learned from Pre Nursing School, was the direct principle applied to this is called Wolfs Law. As well as my own experiences.
      I've only kicked the heavy bag (a friggin lot lol) and spar. Checking kicks with pads / no pads. Running is light impact that can strengthen the bone as well.
      I think your on to something with the numbing thing, I don't really react to stubbing my shin anymore haha 🤣.
      God bless! 🥊🙏

      No. Hand vs forehead forehead will win no matter how you hit. Either that or you're not strong enough to punch hard and break your own knuckle.

    • @bigpicklerick
      @bigpicklerick หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@umbrellastation25 make your fist the right way and it won't. Bone supports bone I've punched plenty of people in the forehead because they tucked their chin and they fell over while my hand hurt a little. I can punch reinforced steel doors and granite tops with minimum pain. Make your fist the right way and you won't break your hand. If you make a "normal" fist you are using the muscles and ligaments to reinforce bone. Use bone to reinforce bone ,Biomechanics man educate yourself and learn how to punch stuff.

    • @umbrellastation25
      @umbrellastation25 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bigpicklerick I know biomechanics. Knuckle bones are thin and frail unlike shin bones which are robust. Saenchai broke his knuckle punching Buakaw in the forehead. Are you claiming you are more conditioned and/or powerful than Saenchai? You probably aren't. That's why they wear gloves in combat sports. To protect the hand rather than the opponent. Think we can hit with any of our joints and the hands are exactly the ones we need to wrap around tightly so they won't break. You're simply not punching hard enough.

    • @bigpicklerick
      @bigpicklerick หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@umbrellastation25 you don't understand biomechanics if you don't understand that bones reinforce bones. One persons hand is not another persons hand, I have been conditioning my hands and boxing since I was 12 years old also if you intercept a fist before it's fully set with " normal" punches you will break your hand 90% of the time so you need to learn biomechanics and make your fist the right way and the knuckles with locke into the bone structure and be supported, where as if you just squeeze your hand you will break your shit 50/50 depending on hand conditioning and target.

    How did you mount the war post into the ground?

    • @Fr_Mitch
      @Fr_Mitch  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dug a hole 2 feet deep, put in the post, and filled in around it with dirt. Then, using the flat end of a 20 lb digging bar, I pounded a couple of dozen rocks and brick bats into the gap (checking for level after each one). Concrete would've been better, but I didn't go that route because, when I'm dead and gone, I don't want some poor fellow who just wants a normal backyard to be cursing my name.
