I don't know, the first Treehouse of Horror was the only one that scared me...when I was five. HOWEVER, I think all of the Treehouse of Horror segments where a parody of something. Even in their earlier years. Mostly parodying Twilight Zone episodes.

The early treehouse episodes have such soul to them. The hand draw animation and imperfections really add to that. After season 8 it was all downhill
