Doing a marathon of all the Twilight movies is part of my New Years Eve/Day ritual. I've watched the first Twilight movie countless of times over the years and never thought about this until last night...of whether or not all vampires in the Stephanie Meyer world sparkle in the sun or if it's only Edward. There's a scene near the end where Alice and Jasper take Bella to a hotel in Phoenix and are talking to the front desk with the sunlight upon them. They are not sparkling. Is that a plot hole or is Edward the only one that would give their secret away? I don't care enough to go internet-sleuthing for it, but since you mentioned the book, I figured I'd mention it here on the chance any of your viewers might know the answer. ^O^ Happy new year!

Muppet Christmas Carol for the win!! And yeah, taking away that song not only sucks cuz it's beautiful and the actress did such a good job, but it makes that whole scene so anticlimactic and awkward without it. Bad Disney, bad! Sidenote, no one in my life calls their sister "Sissy" but I did have a boy in my neighborhood that called his brother "Brother" and as we were both American it was always weird. I lived in Japan for a while, and it's perfectly normal there, and sometimes translators of Japanese media will use "sissy" as a cutesy way to say the honorific for big sister, but it always makes my eye twitch when they do.

Your tree looks amazing. I like the different backgrounds you used in this video (if memory serves, you've rotated btwn them in the past). It took me a stupidly long time to finish the Carmen Maria Machado edited edition of Carmilla, and while I'm glad I read the short book, I didn't like it. I might change my assessment upon a re-read in the future, but now I'm experiencing post-book annoyance (?) and am hoping that Rachel Gillig's One Dark Window duology will make up for it. I absolutely cannot buy a new book right now, but I'm leaving the window open for self-defiance. I liked Brom, maybe I'll read Krampus. Your videos have been a refuge in 2024 not only for the amusements and quality book criticisms and recommendations, but also for the pups. Happy holidays!

11:00 got hung up on the name "bertha" as....well...its not the most flattering of name so to hear it as a major character had me pausing and thinking etc. lol then you explained the context but still had me thinking about all the tropes or stereotypical proto-thoughts that can be thrown onto a character by a name. like "tiny" for a psycho big dude, or "dexter" somehow is always an more intelligent person. etc. got any obvious ones that jump out for yourself? also your comments on the antler fae korn book......never heard of it but seems like a forced romance. seems it was just forced without events used to build the bridge so it just kept feeling like a middle school dance with chaparones watching.....awkward and without actual development outside of perhaps oxytocin or normal adolescents hormones....sounds like a rough on :(

I have book one of The Last Herald Mage sitting over there. I have not touched it. I have read one other book by the author, Bedlam's Bard, and it was very good. She is a great writer.

Sunbringer was unfortunately a bit of a disappointment for me 😐 Empire of the Damned was really good great new characters and the adventure continues!

I finished An Education in Malice! 3.5 out of 5 for me. I really liked the first half. The plot point I'd referenced last time regarding Carmilla was the fork in the road for me in emotional investment. The chapter of show-and-tell and then more scenes of young passion made me feel like I was reading a different book. The last chapter made me think, "well, now we gotta go to the Iberian Peninsula too." I do want to read the original Carmilla story now, though.

Hallo.you said the end of SWORDHEART opens up for a 2 book. So it doesnt have a propper ending? I have planned to buy this book in february but I dont want to bay the book without a happy LOVE ending. Does it have that🙏???

I'm about halfway through An Education in Malice. I've reached the part where Laura and Carmilla's dynamic is more than academic, poetic competition. I'm not disliking it, but I'm kinda bored, if that's the right word. I'm going to keep with it, though, because every so often, I'll find a paragraph that captures an idea or image that sits with me for a while. I'm also curious about the intentions of the new antagonistic force.

I really liked Piranesi.... and the ending wasn't all that a surprised because I actually thought to myself, "Wait..whoa... what? hmmm" before the text itself elaborated. The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins is also a strange book.

I finished Slewfoot over the weekend and really liked it. I did "fast forward" through the interrogation pages to get to the climax. I can see why some people get a YA impression of the protagonist, but she was a young bride and very strong-willed. I also finished Stoner by John Williams and have started An Education in Malice by St Gibson (I loved A Dowry of Blood).

I did not hit the manga but watched the anime Frieren. OH I love it. And it gets better.

Never read IT, never seen an adaptation, but I very much enjoyed this video. I read Christine once upon a time (and have seen the film adaptation), but I don't remember if I liked either of them. It was a long time ago. ^J^

A LOT of people say this is one of their favourite King books and…I didn’t see it personally. I felt really similar to you, but this book took me a good 5-6 months to read because I kept putting it down, and by the time I finished it, it felt like it wasn’t worth all the time to get to that conclusion. It was interesting throughout but not really worth hours and hours of my life which is totally my own opinion. Also I will NOT hear anyone out who tries to explain the group scene, I don’t care if it signifies maturing and growth, its weird 😂
