I found this video because I was trying to decide whether to spend a gift card on Twyla & Frank or the Spellshop...but now I'm leaning toward finally getting to Pratchett myself! I tried Discworld once but I started with book 1 and now I know everyone says not to do that... I felt TOTALLY the same about Dreadful (it was hard to pinpoint exactly why that one just fizzled, but it did), and Hart and Mercy (sooo good).
@@lidiyafoxgloveauthor I have had so much fun with Discworld and would definitely recommend starting with whichever sub-series sounds good to you! Wyrd Sisters and Guards!Guards! Definitely stand out but all the books are fun once you get past those first two books I’m glad I’m not alone on my feelings about Dreadful. And Hart and Mercy has my whole heart 😁
@@mrs.pizzareads I have the Wee Free Men so I might start there, but if that one doesn't grab me I'll also try one of the others. The publisher did a really good job at making Dreadful sooo pretty, I'll say that...but it did feel like the MC was probably more fun in the D&D campaign than the novel.
Winnie is a sweetie! I have such very hit and miss tastes for cozy fantasy, but cozy murders whether they are fantasy or not are always a fun time for me.
I think sometimes authors fail to describe a character, and sometimes they leave it out so the reader fills in whatever detail they wish. Kiela's spell research reminded me of Frieren.
I never noticed that we didn't get a description of the male character in the spell shop 🤣 but now I'm sincerely annoyed about it lol

I have been suddenly hearing about Frieren everywhere! Do I need to read it?
@@mrs.pizzareads I watched the anime but have not read the manga. And I love that anime.
