The Birds, the Bees & the Monkees (1968) Deconstruction Quality: A I couldn't wait to get this one out because it's one of my best works. All of the tracks are pretty high quality, especially the guitars, which are always the hardest to isolate, and thus the poorest quality, but in this case it turned out great. Managed to find a buried vocal intro I had never heard before in Micky's vocal trac...

What did you use to make this ? i know there a few of them but would love to find this one ?
I use mvsep.com and Audacity
This is such a simple song . The Monkees could have have played it easily , but Kirshner rushed it into production .
"Blind Boy" Mickey Brown killing it on the vocals.
I’ve come to like this track a lot more over the years than I used to. And this deconstruction really helps with my new found appreciation for it. I always felt it was a bizarre choice for The Monkees, let alone as a single! But there was a flavor of “retro” circulating at the time which they dabbled with on “Magnolia Simms” and eventually “Daddy’s Song” so I guess maybe they thought it was attempting a revival trend.
Is he singing 'I'll GET back upon my feet?'
@@songwriterjj6022 Yes
Wow, this makes this song actually interesting to listen to! The musicians did a great job with some questionable material...thank you, great deconstruction!😊
Although your deconstruction, as usual is superb, you used your techniques on a song that I truly believe KILLED the Monkees career in America! When there were so many Nesmith gems to release, the powers that be, thought this would be a hit!? Although I actually purchased the 45/single back in the day, I only did it because I was a devoted Monkees fan. But every time I hear DW Washburn, I cringe and feel it was the beginning of the end.
Awesome!
Superbly separated. Nice to hear this neat number broken down like this.
great news about your deconstruction program improving! Looking forward to more and now even better work,if that is even possible 😊
Many Thanks
Who is credited with arrangement?
Shorty Rogers
@@septylite 👍👍
Meant shuffle on the snare.
Any drummer out there know what he is doing on the drums? It sounds like a shuttle on the snare with jazz ride and 4 on the floor, but is so fast it is hard to tell.
Septyl you’ve done it again with another excellent deconstruction. Always loved the military drum work on this gem and to have it broken down like this is a treat. Zor And Zam closing the album always seemed perfect placement to me. And I’m glad they went with this version and not the one from the last episode of the series. Micky’s vocal with the echoing effect on that version held nothing against the clean and powerful vocal he gave us on this version!
Each part is so intense. Seemingly more so than the song as a whole. Once again a new appreciation can be had for it. Thank you
Always loved this song but with the isolated horns and the instrumental I didn’t really realize how symphonic it is! Made my day!
Thanks again for your efforts in isolating all these tracks, it's been fun to get acquainted with an album of theirs I'm not too familiar with. I absolutely cannot wait for the isolated tracks of HEAD!!!!
Wow!!! That is surely an A-List of studio musicians, including Michael Melvoin, father of Wendy😀 Thanks so much for all of your hard work 🙏
Absolutely masterful deconstruction of a timely song from the era of the Viet Nam war. Micky's superb vocals build up matching the instrumentation perfectly, proving that he was one of the best singers of the rock era. It is interesting to note, that the TV powers-that-be who controlled what was included on each album, permitted such a controversial song to close out the disk. I guess they recognized its greatness. Thanks again, for keeping the Monkees music alive!!
Mickey was such a great singer. Wonder how these Monkees songs would have sounded without him. Kirshner got lucky 😊
That is some seriously great military drumming from fast Eddie Hoh. Keep up the great work!
Nobody has this kind of fine musicianship any more! Obviously schooled professionals!
I hear Mickey on some of the harmonies
1966 version is the one
.... and bring on the Wrecking Crew. It saddens me that at this point in their existence, after being (briefly) a recording group, they took a step backwards IMO. I do wish that Chip had produced this album and recorded in the same way that PACJ had been done.
Thank you so much大好きなモンキーズ❤ありがとう
Just don’t get me started on how good the 12 string riff is ❤
Thanks for posting this. We know that the song got recut for the single. Do you have plans of deconstructing the different versions used for the TV show?
Eventually I might, but I'm not sure when
Thanks for posting another fantastic deconstruction. Nesmith's work with and after the Monkees was always so ahead of its time. He truly was a genius! RIP
So glad that you’re continuing with this project! Can’t wait to hear the Head, Instant Replay, Present, and Changes albums!
I read in the Listen to the Band box set booklet that Glen Campbell played lead guitar on this, and that he had a bit of a hard time of it. I have difficulty believing that last part, though!
Absolutely my favorite Minkees, Thank You!!
I was at karaoke the other night and saw a whole bunch of black people singing Hey hey We're The Monkees...🙈🙉🙊😂
That is wonderful! Keep the Monkees' music alive! My 7 year old grandson knows all the words to the songs on Side 1 of The Monkees Anthology. He likes to sing background!
@hyacinth4368 That went right over your head apparently. 🤭
@@Jew_Lie_the_4th yeah really
I just discovered your TH-cam page. This is outstanding!! I can’t wait to hear them all. I was just wondering how you were isolating the tracks because I’m assuming you do not own the master tapes to send them to a mixer to isolate them. How do you isolate the tracks? Keep up the good work. Thank you.
@@wakefan1000 I use AI on mvsep.com and the program Audacity
@@septylite Thanks for replying back I appreciate it
It sounds like Boyce and Hart, with possbly, Micky on background vocals. B & H usually sang backups on their songs as they were excellent harmony singers and could really capture a 'youthful' sound.
Micky sang back-up on the original 1966 take, although only Peter showed some affection for the song, due to Louie Shelton's classic speedy guitar lick...The original version, which was a hit in Florida, was tighter than the re-recorded bubblegum version, where the stereo mix was pitched higher...There was also an organ heard on the first take...The only version heard in 1968 with a proper ending was in the episode, "Monkees Blow Their Minds," which aired on 3/11/68...
This is my favorite so far, thank you so much!
A Monkees classic, the individual tracks sound great!👍👍
I came here just for that lead guitar!
This is another one where the remake was way better than the original. The brass saved an otherwise dull tune. I mean come on, it’s essentially a two line verse and essentially a one word chorus. It’s also faster than the original tv version. And I don’t remember which, maybe the mono, was pitched higher. I also don’t know why they used a fade out version on the album, as compared to the single with a proper ending. Your breakdowns continue to be brilliant Septyl. Always look forward to your stuff!
Awesome! Glad to hear the isolated lead guitar!
Thank you for this work. It takes the breakthrough music of the Monkees to the highest level of enjoyment. Through genius creativity, you found a way to bring new joy in listening to this music. Thank you.
What did you use to make this would love to know ?

@@longandwindingroad mvsep.com and Audacity
After listening to isolated bass lines a lot, all I can say is, WTF? You'd never know what this song is from the bassline. So wacky.
このAlbumは日本でもhitしました。和名タイトル小鳥と蜂とMonkeesだったように思います。
The very best... But... What a breakdown!
10:14 -those strings could cause nightmares! Wow
Too much stuff on this and back my feet again horns and strings Hal is playing Mary Mary rhythm
It sounds to me like Micky's sister Coco might be in the vocal blend.
