Another fantastic deconstructing of a hidden gem from the HEAD album. Peter wrote complex compositions and hired once again, only the best of musicians to worked with. The roster of people on his few songs: Buddy Miles, Dewey Martin, Steve Stills, Neil Young, etc. is stellar!!! Peter unfortunately never achieved the credit that he deserved. Although his original vocal is good, Micky's is great (as usual). Thanks for keeping the Monkees music alive!
One of the highlights from Head. Excellent breakdown Septyl. Thumbs up as always for your fine work. Being able to hear Micky’s vocal and Peter’s vocals side by side is a treat. Always thought this one had a fun baseline too, so it’s great to hear it isolated.
Was fb buddies w the late Lance, I had sent him a clip of myself playing bass along to "do I hv to do this all over again" he was very cool about it saying he appreciated the shout out and the compliment on his original bass line, his only criticism on mine was that "I didn't look high enough" hahhaa-in talking about that track he told me he used a hofner 501( beatle bass) and an ampeg amp for the recording - - - I wonder if that's what he used here-
I am so very happy you broke this one down. Peter's voice blended so well with Micky's that I never really got to hear him clearer. They both did so well on this song. And I have always enjoyed Peter's writing. His songs were always original and interesting musically. Now I got to see how well crafted this one was! Thank again, Septyl. I hope this gets lots of views!

Great work, the separate tracks are so interesting to hear, Peter was such a talented guy!!
This was the Monkees best album !!!!!

Thanks for the great deconstruction - I can dig it! One of Peter's best.
I found this channel after uploading my own minimalist cover of "Randy Souse Git" this morning!
(Wish I'd known of Septyl beforehand!)
Thank you.
If you listen closely to the backing vocals, during the Micky lead vocal, the highest harmony is sung by Micky's sister, Coco.
Awesome!
