Thanks for posting another fantastic deconstruction. Nesmith's work with and after the Monkees was always so ahead of its time. He truly was a genius! RIP
Ah yes!!! Love this tune. This was like Mike’s last foray into psychedelia on a Monkees album, and probably the most haunting. This is an excellent breakdown Septyl, with each of the individual parts having an eeriness all to their own.
Mike really shows his talents on piano and keys. The chord progression is eerie and perfect. Sucks that Mike didn't play keys, harmonica or pedal steel a lot.
Awesome! Keep these coming! Can’t wait until you get to the three later albums. Instant Replay has always been my favorite. But all of these are much appreciated!
I have been waiting for this one! Eddie Hoh did one helluva job on this one. Not many drummers could go full bore in that middle break as well as he did! Keep them coming please.
@@damonmoon436 The piano part is very much beginner---Mike could have definitely played the keyboard parts. Also, he is the only Monkee playing during that middle bit (and the whole song)

The genius of Mike Nesmith

I especially liked his harmonica playing.

Sometimes "solid and simple" is the way to go. Michael could be wonderful with this, when need be.

The Monkees best song ! Nesmith was a genius !
Nice to see work like this done on one of the songs I thought only I knew
This is the one I was waiting for.
I read that the middle section is a four Monkees Jam, something like that 🗣️ I think it's too advanced for Mike's piano level
