Yeah man, it’s fun! I find all my grills/smokers used from Facebook marketplace. Sometimes it takes me a while to find what I want but I enjoy the hunt and saving money.
how do you keep rust off the firebox? great looking smoker!
I usually spray it with a light coat of Pam cooking spray once it is heated up. I usually do this every time I use it.
if I leave my cowboy grate in my Brazos offset it warps.....how do you keep yours from not doing that?
I’m not sure, I haven’t ever experienced an warping issues with mine. I do have the Old Country Vaquero grill and its grill grates do warp. I suspect that they use thinner material. You could always build a heavier duty version of the grate or I’m sure someone sells one aftermarket.

It’s not just a Costco “blade tenderizing” thing. USDA gives all steaks the 145 degree cooking temperature. Non tenderized steaks as well.
I just wanted to share my story regarding Meatstick's Sales Tactics. I went to order a Meatstick V (5) the other day straight from Meatstick. They were running a special, buy a Meatstick V and get a Red for free. I added the combo to my cart and noticed if I spent more than $450, I'd also get 50% off. I added 3 more combos for a total of 4 Meatstick combos at a total of $520. 50% dropped it to $260. I checked out, paid, and got a CONFIRMATION email of acceptance of my order. A half hour later Meatstick cancels my order. In an email after they said their website charged me wrong, and I'm not allowed to stack the BOGO and 50% discounts... I said, OK, just honor the 50% on the Meatstick Vs and I'm ok with that. Customer service said no, those aren't on sale, but I can order 4 of them at full price. It doesn't seem right to make the sale, CONFIRM the sale, and then cancel the sale because you don't like the price you charged.
That stinks man! I can assure you the MeatStick v is still way better than Meater 2 plus I bought last year. Sorry you had a bad experience with their sales team though.
@@googanbbq Thanks! I appreciate the follow up!! I just wanted to share my experience and let people draw their own conclusions. I feel like there are so many great thermometers and customer service might be the deciding factor (it is for me as I will now go a different route). Happy grillin'/BBQ/Smokin'
@FrankP-p2p I understand. If you don’t go with MeatStick, check out Thermoworks RFX. I’ve been testing with it for a couple of months and it has been working well too. It’s more money though.
@@googanbbq It's interesting you mentioned the RFX system. That was the thermometer I decided to go with. I just didn't want to mention it because I wanted my experience to stand on its own, not be perceived as a promotion for Thermoworks. And since I'm looking for 4 probes, the RFX is actually cheaper when comparing them at full cost. Which is why when I thought I was able to initially get the Meatsticks at 50% off, I jumped at the chance. It would have saved me money over the RFX, and I was willing to give them a chance.
@googanbbq would love to see a comparison between the MeatStick V and the RFX or at least hear your thoughts on which is the better product?
400 degrees exactly 60 mins and it will be crispy. Just use paper towel to dry wings, apply oil, before adding rub and smoke and they will be money.

Nah, when i buy prime rib...i want prine rib...not steaks. Where i live, the cost of a nice steak is as much per lb as the roast itself. To each his own, but we prefer the cook/taste of the roast over individual steaks...js

Is your firebox insulated?
No, it isn’t. It is 1/4” thick though.
I picked up 2 on 12/14/24 at $5.77/lb and another one on 12/21 for $4.99/lb. Cut the first 2 into steaks and the last one I'm cooking today for Christmas dinner.

@googanbbq : Started making stock for au jus at 1:30 am. The roast is sitting out to get close to room temperature and will go into the oven in an hour, 11 am my time. Merry Christmas🎄

Where I live in Georgia, it’s still $6.99lb this Christmas season.
I do this at the end of every year! Steaks will last 2....maybe 3 years under vacuum seal in the freezer. Rotate your meat, and try not go over 2 years. At the 4-5 year mark, the meat will not be a little funky.

So I just picked up a 7.5 prime rib roast. If I cut them into steaks are they actually considered to be ribeye steaks? The internet isn’t really helping me get an answer
