I got a question since you have experience with presets. If you change the name and or location of a factory preset with the settings you've customized, will the original automatically get deleted or will it remain as the original preset along with the new customized preset?
I pretty sure any of the presets you customize, overrides and is gone....(but don't quote) me guess you could take a pic and save it, if you want it to the original preset. also I believe that all the presets don't have the same FX
@@thesologigginglife6566 guess what.... right after I entered that last post I started doing some lookin on the PAcoustic and found if you scroll all the way thru the factory presets there are "empty" slots where you can save under your new presets and different name. I saved two customized presets using the factory presets, renamed them and saved them in numbers 119 & 120~ and the originals were still in tact! Hope that helps!
I had to do a factory reset on mine, just because I "jacked it up" too much and couldn't recall where the settings were originally. So, I reset it like it just came outta the box. I have a foot switch 3 and use it primarily for looping. MIC control is for their Play Acoustic Mics.... they have buttons on the actual mic so you if you hand hold the mic you won't need to to use your feet to tap the foot switch or main unit. I've had mine for nearly 8 months playing over 60 gigs and I'm just recently figuring it out myself!!! LOL Be great if they were compatible with a drum machine like Beat Buddy (I also use one) to synch up the BPMs on the loops. There's too much wavering when they aren't synched. The Play Acoust is like a millisecond slower so when you go to loop while playing the BB independently, they start to mismatch on the downbeat.
I get it... LOL are you sure there is no way to synch the BB with the TC?... If you could, I would definitely add some looping... Thank you Bill for the shout !
@@thesologigginglife6566 I actually got an email response from Music Tribe on synching up the BB, and NO the Play Acoustic is not designed to accomplish that. BTW,...I found a user manual for all the settings and what they do at: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/mediadl.musictribe.com/media/PLM/data/docs/P0DEF/M_TH_0726-AAI_PLAY%20ACOUSTIC_WW.pdf

Jeffrey...I'm reading and I'm concerned. Please have them check for Sensorineural Hearing Loss. 2 general kinds, this being the hardest. Losing neurological connections. Typically happens to only one ear. Happens suddenly, most times within hours. LARGE doses of Prednisone injected into the inner ear can help. My wife got it on a Friday two Jan ago. By the time we called Johns Hopkins and got her in, they managed to save some using that treatment. They said they see about 100 area cases of it each year. Reach out to me for more info brother. I sure hope you get some answers soon.

Hey man great Channel I stumbled into it I used to live up in the top of Palomar Mountain I know half of those places you played at I have been playing since the 70s also in 5 years ago I blew off two fingers on my right hand helping a friend with a garage door opener anyway I never had the heart to sell off my acoustic guitars long story short your channel has got me playing again these days I live on the Gulf of Mexico in Texas the summer I'm planning on getting back out there not just I miss it but I am a Music Maker people seem to have a really good time when I played old Tunes same old s*** Jimmy Buffett Paul Simon you know the routine I have learned play with one finger because I don't have one to hold the pick but hey man that's not going to stop me now you gave me inspiration thank you
Wow !! what a story... and I'm whining about my clogged ear... well, you inspire me Ed... If there's a will, there's a way, no matter what kind of challenges we face... You are truly a music maker... like me, its in our blood. Now it time to soothe souls & make smiles brother.... thank you for sharing!! you frickin Rock !!!
I’m an iPad user after too many windy outdoor gigs! Lots of good set list apps, but they also provide fast access to all my songs as they are catalogued in alphabetical order in addition to your set lists. Gives me ability to form different set lists for different places or shake up the song order quickly.
I totally get it.... fast & efficient 🎼🎶
That's exactly how I do it.
old school !! luv it !!
xylitol nasal spray. I have the same thing . Its the tube not draining
I will get it.... is it over the counter ?? is it for allergy or a saline type solution ??
I have a set list for a good reason. It is designed for the best impact of my art. I swear by it. I'm not into being a good old boy playing stuff. Though I could and have done that.
Last I heard, you either use a set list or you don't... there is no right or wrong on this subject...Don't know what genre you perform...whatever way, if it works for you, don't fix it... Thank you for the shout brother.
Great video! Looking into buying something to enhance my voice when gigging, the mic mechanic sounds like a good option🤠 You mention the TC Helicon Play Acoustic, does it deliver the same, but more? I like the simplicity of the mic mechanic, dont want to complicate my setup too much.
thank you brother.... yes, TC Play acoustic delivers way more... Doubling, Reverb, Delay, and more... plus all the different Harmony's. Also guitar processing... Very user friendly... All TC Helicon's are the way to go... Thanks again brother
Had the clogged ear problem a couple times. What helped me was hydrogen peroxide, the regular 3% stuff. Filled my bad ear up, let it bubble for a minute, then drained. Would take few times over a couple days but eventually it'd pop and return to normal. Taking an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen might help too. YMMV.
I've used peroxide as well. There have been times of instant relief, and you can actually feel the clog (in my case, water) being popped. Not sure what the docs would say about this method, though.
I don't use a set list. Or use lyrics. I read the room
🎼🎶🎤🎸
Sometimes you wonder if these damn doctors know what the hell they are talking about or they just do " trial and error" . Question - when you write your songs , do you have a process or just do what happens ( lyrics first or melody /chords first ? Hope you get better soon . Sending prayers from Florida !! T.
Hey brother.... great question !! going to copy and paste.. so I can talk about this subject next week.. ... but for now, I find the song on guitar first... then write.. and thank you for the prayers !!! Lord know I can use'em
I had a book like that but the lamination blinded me from seeing the lyrics or chords, so I just use one reference sheet with most of the songs written down. My 3 piece band does the same forty tunes and solo and duo gigs is just vibing the room. There is a lot of outlaw country around here, but when I get closer to the city, it's a lot of blues and classic rock. Thanks for the video. Hope your sinus shit clears. I had that for four months before it finally cleared. Hope yours is sooner.
I have the same problem... but I just tilt the stand slightly... problem solve.. but it is annoying LOL.. and thank you brother for the "get well"... Jesus almighty... it's already pushing toward two month.. ugh.. we just keep pushing through🎼🎶
I've got a deviated septum too. I put about 4 or 5 drops of rubbing alcohol in my ears to help evaporate some of the fluid. BTW - I started using a Tonedexter 2 for my live acoustic guitar sound when my TC Helicon Play Acoustic crapped out on me. Works pretty good. Not cheap though and isn't for live vocals. Peace and better health to you in 2025, brother
Yes, the Tonedexter is great !!... so you just put regular old rubbing alcohol ? and it helped ?... Peace to you brother !! and thank you
@thesologigginglife6566 yep, the 70% isopropyl does it for me. I'll leave it in each ear for about 10 seconds - twice a day
@@Michael-Willoughby Thank you !!
Been through it all for the ear thing. All the tests, etc...etc...He might be talking about a "saline solution" nose spray. You can do that any time and it works. It's just saline solution. Me and wife take it at night. Clears you up for sleep. - Arm and Hammer Simply saline - Mucinex saline solution nose spray. (my favorite, but both work.) I play with one ear now. You might want to think about using an ear plug for your bad ear. Sounds like you getting a lot of artifacts from that ear being so plugged up with fluid. Maybe putting a plug in it will eliminate those distracting artifacts. Yeah, you're only using one ear, but that ear is clear. It works for me :) Good luck with it all.
Thank you brother.... I'm definitely going to try that ... I'll try anything to get this frickin thing unplugged ... you Rock brother, thanks again !!
Yeah man, the Arm and Hammer stuff will shonuff get rid of the crud; however, have you found that your ears sometimes get clogged from using?
Always appreciate your vids ...hope to be “out there” playing someday and your advice is helpful...
Hope so brother.... time to soothe souls👍🎼🎶
ear problems have plagued me since birth i feel for you. i developed a severe sinus infection last summer brought on by polln allergies.......literally lost my hearing for a few months and sidelined my musical gigs all last summer and fall .....took like 3 months to clear up . i wish you well sir. we solo players are all in this together......btw trim those mutton chops ya damn hippie!😉 .....also try the setlist helper app it's free for the basic version and it was a game changer for my shows it allowed me to ditch the cumbersome binder and music stand cheers
Mutton chops.. Lmfao !!! dude !! that is classic... Luv it !!! I'm more of a Hillbilly Hippie... LOL Thank you brother !!!
Hope you get your ear issue sorted soon, bro. Best wishes fro Spain.
Thank you brother !!!!
Hi buddy , hope feel a lot better soon . Do you like to know a new song inside out before you introduce it to your book or will you put it in when still getting it good ?
I really do like to get the song down to completion before I put it in the book 🎼🎶🎸🎤
Hi I'm going through the same thing . Re ears the left one last year and ended up with a grommet which worked now the right ear is blocked I've got 3 gigs this week I used inear monitors (xvive )and it was a game changer and can play with confidence till the blockage clears.i hope this helps. Cheers
That helps brother, big time actually.... sometimes it feels like I'm the only one going through it... Thank you !!! Hope we heal up soon, Tim🙏
Thanks for the chat. Praying you get that ear fixed.
and I will embrace your prayer, brother... Thank you so much Dean !!!!
1.Put your book in alphabetical order. 2. I put my sheets in those clear plastic binder sleeves and when I have a 3 sheet tune I packing tape (clear) a 3rd sleeve to the outside edge of the 2nd sleeve and I can lay the whole song out on the stand and it all folds back in tidy. 3. No set list 4. No B S ing til after the 1st song then you'll know what your dealing with. 5. Just started looping. I just track the stretch I want to lead in unless the tune doesn't change then just fattens it up. One thing about looping is you'll find out how much you lag or speed up during a tune. Frustrating as fuck at first but just keep at it. I could go on.
I dig it brother... luv it !!! thank you for sharing
Great advice Jeffery, we all go through those people who want a little bit of attention when we play, however, when I'm playing at the Art Walk & gigs like that, people aren't drinking, so their more focused on the art & the art of playing, although I'm playing more classical guitar, so it's a TOTALLY different world. When we first got down here in SW Florida, 1 of my first residency gigs was at a high end Italian restaurant playing classical & soft Rock guitar, all instrumental, & the people loved it & respected the art behind it. I still play some of the clubs that survived the hurricane, but I'm more selective in where I want to play, I just more interested in playing for the people who like the fusion/jazzy & classical music, they seem to act more mature as apposed to just getting stupid drunk. I do some of the covers as instrumental, playing vocal melodies & one of them is Kenny Rogers ' Lady's, great song. I agree with you Brother, soothing souls is what it's all about, no matter what style you play. So glad you & Kim are safe from those fires. I agree, if you play with matches, you'll get burned! Now that Trump is back in, maybe ( hopefully ) things will get back to normal. Be safe my Music Making Brother, Rock On & God Bless.
Boom !! well said brother.... so amazing how much different the dynamics get with different genres of music, even in different venues... Yes, Trumps got his work cut out for him... but if anybody can do it... it's him God Bless brother & the family
I wore ear plugs for years. I found the hearing in my left ear was muffled. I called a hearing clinic, saw an audiologist and had my ears professionally flushed out. Holyshitballs! The crap that came out of there was like something from a youtube plumbing channel! Hearing restored! The left was clogged up pretty bad, the right wasn't much better! Hope you get er fixed up brother. Cheers!
I frickin need that done... OMG... Tuesday morning🙏
Being able to connect with other people en mass is a whole separate talent. Harder than herding any animal, including cats. Its Magick. Ask for a list of announcements whoever's paying would like you to make for them. Then keep everyone's attention and steer it to the story of how you came to learn this next song. Then you best play something you can nail! Magick. Looking deep into eyes in the front helps as well. The audience doesn't want to be staring at a shy person and you acknowledging them on that level is more Magick. And a backhand to the head or headstock to the crotch, sometimes, is just tough love.
That sounds a little creepy..🤣 Seriously, you nailed it my man... you summed it up perfectly... Boom !!
If I interact with an audience, I do it in moderation. Why? Because the more I focus on one person, the more I'm ignoring the rest of the people. Not my job to be a talk show host, lol.
🤣Amen to that
When I set out to compile my song list years ago I wanted to offer a few songs from different genres since audiences are usually from different ages, culture etc, BUT I made certain that they were songs I loved playing. So I might do "Moon River" by Pat Boone and follow that with "Diamond Girl" Seals & Croft follow that with "Always on My Mind" Willie Nelson for example. My hope is that everyone comes away with something they enjoyed hearing but at the same time I myself love playing those songs.
Bingo brother.... and that's the way to do it..🎼🎶 Thank you
@@thesologigginglife6566 Rick Nelson's wisdom words stuck with me all these years about song picks. "You can't please everyone, so you got to"-well you know the rest..Take care my freind..
@@taylor54994 Love it... Garden party is in my set... well said brother
I once was told by an event organizer I needed to interact with his audience. But I noticed everyone in the audience was talking among themselves when I played. So I figured why interact, just play my music. Now what I do is I ask the event host or organizer, tell me about your audience, do they like interaction or do they prefer to socialize among themselves. This kind of prepares me for the event in advance as to whether I should speak or just "shut up and play" dammit. Love you Bro..
LOL... Love you back my brother
I get super clogged ears every so often. What worked for me last time, I got the over the counter irrigation kit with the balloon syringe, I’ll do the ear drops and then get in a really hot tub with my clogged ear under water facing down and I pump the irrigator with hot water while my ear is submerged. Cleared right up.
Interesting.... the thing is, the emergency said my ear is as clean as could be...
I have had the same problem with my ear, ever 2 years I have to have it drained.
Oh dude.... that frickin sucks... well hopefully I'll have this behind me next week
Dealing with audience-initiated interactions: Follow the 4 A'S. Acknowledge that they are there Appreciate the fact that they are in your audience Answer their comment or question (briefly), and Adjourn. I use Adjourn because if on the off chance you actually want to discuss what they have to say in more depth, you can let them know you'd like to talk after the show (i.e. NOT right then), but you should certainly feel within your rights to simply end the conversation with a "thanks" or "glad you liked that one" rather than promise any follow-up.
Bingo...Nice line to follow... basic common sense.. Thank for the shout brother !
@@thesologigginglife6566 Always happy to contribute to the conversation here. Appreciate all the great info you share!
@@thewayside67 Thank you so much brother !!!
Everyone is different and some are amazing and totally natural at the whole "come on guys!!" Sing a long style. For me id say i bounce off the crowd more if it happens naturally cool and i'll get into it but im definitely more a counter encounter! Normally ill introduce 3/4 of the songs or say like "a bit of tom petty there" or something. I was in a band with someone that always said if it aint on the page it aint on the stage and i hated that, way prefer to go with the flow. Hope the ear gets sorted soon!!
Right on brother.... go with the flow... and common sense. Thank you brother
I think you nailed it right here...8:44 Yup, that's me. I'm a newb. And if you come up to the stage and interrupt me while I'm setting up, getting ready for next song/or set, etc...that's my "interaction." Pretty much exactly. lol. I'm fine with talking to the audience as a whole during the set. Good luck with your ear...
Amen brother... and thank you !!!!
what about any advice on good mic technique Jeff
Are you speaking of when and when not to lay into the mic ? or what mics to use ?
@@thesologigginglife6566 just good general mic technique that sort of thing
all the patter between the songs is part of the whole thing, James Taylor and Colin Hay are great for this
Drags out the set too
Solid advice regarding crowd interaction. Short and to the point. Profundity in simplicity. Man, to me there's nothing more irritating (aside from a clogged ear!) than a singer who gives the same old cliche, rapid fire, unintelligible auctioneer-esque mumbling on the mic between songs. Prayers for your hearing issue!
Thank you so brother !
Just bought the playlive acoustic 5 days ago, here is my first attempt at using both the vocal and guitar effects in an original song I wrote. Thanks for the tips. th-cam.com/video/9hx0AysDmYU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6ddeB7yKjUqMdIun
I've been told I need to interact with the Audience more. But, every time I do...I get behind on time. And it can get bad because people want to talk forever, they really don't get that you need to play and entertain. I get that I need to talk more to people, but then I feel rushed to get the songs in. Why can't they just leave me alone!...joking. Kinda :) How do you handle that? And the ear thing. I've pretty much lost all my hearing in my left ear over the last couple of years. Tried everything. They finally said it was a brain thing. Ugh. Anyway, It really doesn't bother me much on stage. I can control all the volumes, etc. It bothers the shit outta me in normal conversations tho. "Speak up girl...and speak clearly!" lol. No problem when playing in studio on on stage, just off stage. I can live with that. Hell, I have to. Tried all the hearing aids, which is how I discovered it was brain related. Musta happened in the 70's. It ain't been the end of the world for me. Actually, it's focused me...and I have a legitimate reason to ignore my brother-in-law now.
Hey Steven... thank you for the comment... luv it.. I'm gonna do a Vlog regarding you comment.. You Rock brother !!!
@thesologigginglife6566 awesome. The guys who hover over you setting up, breaks, etc....seem to be my problem. Since I'm still new at this, it's already a little stressful setting up in time.
The main issue isn't the effects that are on the board. The primary issue is the guy on the board 50% of the time has no clue about EQ, compression, deessing and the effects. Using this thing you know you will sound good.
Absolutely Dave... 👍
Stock speakers were horrible, very muddy compared to mojotone greyhound speakers.
I do use effects. I use a rack mount Behringer 3D virtualizer dialed into a stereo delay 180 to 220 ms on (0) FB on one side (1) FB on the other set to a 1/16th note for vocals, a bit of ambient reverb to fill out the sound. I also use a rack mount stereo widener to get that stereo delay effect to come thru the speakers. I also use a Boss VE8, for harmony. I'll say this, it took me 12 years of trial and error with tradeins on audio equipment in order to find the right effects I was searching for. It's alot of work man...
Damn.... I bet it sound beautiful, brother !
You know, your TC Play Acoustic is a preamp/DI and has separate gain controls for the mic and the guitar. If I remember correctly, the guitar level is adjusted in one of the menus. I just thought I'd throw that out there, in case you hadn't tried that yet . I also found that the different "res" settings worked great to EQ the acoustics I ran through it. Anyway, good luck on your ear and Happy New Year, Jeffrey!
I've been deep in that darn thing.. and I did see the gain db but can't get it up high or higher without it going into the red light going on the top of the unit.. and I'm using a passive pickup on the guitar.. and when that happens I notice it somehow interferes with the harmonies when it gets into the red.. weirdest thing.. I'll have to look a little more deeper at it... Thank you Rory !!
You know I've run into thing about getting booked, I tell them up front I charge $200 for a 2 hour set. They come back with wanting me to do it for $50. I tell them it takes me at least an hour to get setup and that amount of time to break down. I don't show up with a karokee machine with backing tracks. I bring speakers amps, mixer, effect racks, pedals, guitars, mics, ect . It just amazes me how so many of these booking people don't understand what we do.Anyway enough of me ranting, I love listening to you, Merry Christmas and all the best to you in 2025!
You are correct... some of these people that deal with bookings have their head so far up there ass, it's stupid.. Thank you brother... and Merry Christmas & Happy New year !!
I've recently found that tapping the top of my guitar while turning the notch filter, is the quickest way to find the most troublesome frequency. FWIW. Brilliant little pedal!
Thank you brother... nice to know !!!
