Burst of MAD Trout Action at Oak Grove Park!
Feels like we've been under the Lake Trout Curse. While 3 or so years ago we'd often pull up plenty of Trout on a trip. Almost seemed too easy. Then trip after trip we'd come up with 1 catch. A rare exception here and there. Well today my friends... that CURSE has been broken!
Always keep an eye for Lightning, sometimes it seems rare, other times it STRIKES TWICE!!

While fishing one of the many GEM spots at Lodi Lake I hear the crunching of leaves CLOSE behind me. I turned to look camera rolling to see him standing there. Packed with weapons and staring me down. Seems he wants this spot. Problem is, so do I and I'm already here! Assuming that problem gets handled I hope to scope out some more GEM spots here. The options seem endless and the beauty unmatch...

Also need to figure the bottom out where the rocks, snags and plants are, also where the sandy bottom is! So we bait up and cast out... No surprise I guess, bells start going off before we have the last pole in the water! Now the fight is on to land some Stripers before they take all t...

Be careful following bucks like that this time of year. Its rutting season and bucks can get aggressive in a flash, especially if there are does around.
Thanks for the note, well warrented! You also a hunter or retired from such? The thought crossed my mind, so I kept in a calm gentle state. Even in movement of the arms. I got no closer than the STEALTHY 8' he snuck up behind me by. Think to date it's the 16th-18th deer sighting there. They've mainly been Fawn and Doe. I for me, was a TREAT. A Buc... I really was stunned. I didn't consider time of year, VERY strong point! You visit this park/lake? Course hope you enjoyed the video as well... Ken & Lea
Oh did you see the 2nd encounter? Hard to say, you may know better than I. About 12 minutes after encountering him. I noticed 3 Fawn and a Doe about 70' from where he was. When he bolted off it was in that direction. I didn't see him with them though. Quite the experience.
@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 I haven't hunted in a few seasons, but it hasn't been long enough for me to say I'm retired from it yet 🙂 I'm one of those all-around outdoor guys. I forage, fish, and hunt whenever and wherever I can. Been kinda laid out most of this year from an injury back in March.
@@RippieFarmer Guess I'm a retired hunter. Though I preferred it to fishing heh. Sounds like you and my father had such in common. He actually had 2 hobbies only once he stopped painting. Hunting full time, normally 22+ days out of a month. Then designing ever changing landscaping designs on his land. Hope it's not an injury that stays with you. Get well, there's bites to be had!
Play lie I've been going out to River Island
Think I've heard of it... never been there. There is a "spooky" water tunnel I once swam due to umm a bad choice heh. It was a bit long, and tad spooky. After I swam it I couldn't help to wonder. How deep was it? What was under me?? I know one thing, I hear it's old. It carved a good 400' tunnel through a mountain. Maybe a 2 hour drive from Stockton/Lodi area.
I would love to get out to meet you too one time and maybe go on a little adventure
Wouldn't mind that, things at the moment are fairly busy. You'll notice another asking to hook up for a trip. We also have the Subscriber Meetup that we need to reschedule. When we mentioned it, Saturday 23rd was clear sky. Few days later, storm. Yeah though let us just get some of this taken care of. Ken & Lea
I noticed you go to one of my other favorite spots, Lodi lake, but I heard that fishing not to good there
I don't blame you for liking it. I think it's a Gem in these areas. Sure we fished it, but great for Nature Walks, BBQs, Misc Sports, Boating... and like you said... Bloody Tough fishing. I'm wondering... lack of fish? Or, we need to learn to fish it better. Sure see large fish jumping nearly every visit. About 3-10 surfaces that within sight a trip. From the vid footage I know some were Carp, most recent look like Salmon. Crazy... little Lodi Lake. Have ever caught anything from it?
A couple guys were leaving when I pulled up they said they had two rainbow trout another guy was sitting there for a while he finally caught one before I left so they were catching them I guess I didn't stay there long enough
No doubt! Seem this year they were biting. Caught some as you seen, most groups we seen there caught some. It's like you'd have to watch intently to actually see someone not catching. I heard (3 different fishermen) the last 3 days didn't seem so good. My main guess outside of reduced numbers would be maybe they got stressed? They were fished super heavy day one.
I had just went to Walmart and picked up some mice tails and a rooster tail and I got some chartreuse worms that don't need to be put in the fridge
Oddly enough seems Mousetails at times work dang well. With you on the Rooster Tails! We rarely fish Trout with Worms anymore, so let us know how they worked?
Where is Oak Grove Park that you’re talking about?
The address is: 4520 8 Mile Road Stockton CA Think it opens around 8am, till sunset. There's a small Parking & Fishing fee. Fairly nice place though! Hope you're enjoying the vids, fish on! Ken & Lea
I was there derby day only caught 2 dudes were like 3 ft from me soaking bait in my throwing lane. I told myself this is it no more of these crazy derbies no more I cant do the crazy anymore. U give a person a small space and they end up soaking one rod and throwing one in the same lane your in.
I would say "oh man that's horrible" but.... actually watched your video :) I just been too tight on time, never commented. We don't watch them as much as we use to. It was CRAZY tight were you were. Don't blame you we don't do them anymore either. But days after.... fair game! heh thanks for hanging boss

NOTE: Our Subscriber Meetup at Oak Grove Park has been delayed. Weather turned bad, so we'll wait for the next chance if we can put that together. Good chance it'll still be at Oak Grove. In either case we'll keep you all Updated as to the new date! Sorry about the rains... Ken & Lea
I was just there yesterday I didn't have any luck😅
Man not cool... not having that! Next time you go let us know I'll get some scuba gear and we'll get one on there! On a more serious note, dang wonder why? Maybe stressed from 2-3 days of heavy pressure? If you don't mind what was your bait & rig set up? Thanks for watching... Ken & Lea
Great to know there are fishing here. How far are you from the parking area?
In the first location. It's closest to the last parking lot near the freeway. That probably a 4 minute walk if you park as close as you can get. The second location keep going further that direction. Cross the little bridge near back on the park. It's probably 5-6 times further. Towards Summer will be a lot less. At times an active, like this day! We hope you enjoy the videos! Ken & Lea
Have caught numerous trout on mini night crawlers. But that is up at lake Almanor. And also use a mill worm cricket combo. But have caught numerous also on artificial bait also. Again great video and great day out there.
Right on for the notes on the Crawlers. Greg also mentioned them. With intent we had went out with no baits/worms in mind. Still, you two making me want to try a purely Worm day for Trout! We've used all types of Powerbait, Rooster Tails, Panter Martins, Cast Masters, Jigs and such. Gonna try Worms also next time. We use them lots for Sunfish. Never heard of Almanor. That's not Amador by chance? Thanks Bob! Hey if you have a few we have a "Poll" section. A few new polls we're taking. Ken & Lea
Those were some nice size trout. I enjoy the beginning of the video with the music good job.
Hey David, yeah was a few decent ones for sure. The larger ones in the vid would probably make 4-6 meals each. With some trimmings... heh thanks. Oh hey when you have time if you can "Vote" in the Pole section. Helps me direct the content better.
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 I guess I miss something, where to vote
@@davidgarcia9808 On the channel home page. Should be a few tabs under our banner. Like Playlist, Popular and Community. It's under the Community section. An honor David.
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 Found the page and voted. Didn't leave comments on the limit size because I feel there is too much wrong information out there and a person needs to look up the regulations themselves. Some poor sap reads the wrong information and gets a ticket. On the favorite fish we need to be able to list them in order of our favorite fish, my are in this order carp, catfish, trout, bluegill, and bass. Wish there was some way to send pics of some fish I have caught. Thanks for all the hard work you two do
If anyone else tried Greg's idea for Trout, casting a Nightcrawler topped off with a Powerbait Egg. Let us know how did that work for you? Sounds like a solid idea to me! Dang being Italian recon I need to find some Pizza scented Powerbait. Never know there maybe some Whop per Trout out there!
Should try floating night crawlers off the bottom like u do the power bait. Works great!!! I have been doing combo of night crawler with power egg and its been deadly .
Rofl Greg... seconds after I sent my last response "thx for the suggestions" you send this one. Well most times when we fish Trout we purposely try not to use real baits. Think the main reason they work so well for so many Delta fish and I hate working with real baits, worms not to bad outside of frequent rebaiting. Trout being our chance for artificials. Being said... ummm think so anyways Greg? Also I'd humbly guess we'd be more likely to get a Catfish or Sunfish on the Nightcrawler over the Trout. Heck if I'm wrong, this is even better. Though normally when casting Red Worms vs Nightcrawlers the Red's seem to get the Sunfish like Red Ear, Bluegill & Warmouth. While the Nights for us more often Catfish, Bass or Sunfish. Though I am talking Delta water. My bad long winded. P.S. I like the Powerbait/Night idea, can aid in keeping it on with that added scent!
Nice
Awww shucks *kicks a nearby stone* on the level... right on boss, thanks for some of the suggestions in the past. No doubt others using the ideas also. Ken
Ken those fish are salmon 🍣
M.J. thank you kindly for the information! Fairly sure I'm with you on that. Only other thought was MAYBE few were Trout. Last few times I fished Lodi Lake (love the spot) I seen fish surface/jump semi frequently. Think it was my last Lodi trip there or one before that, caught a wonderful shot of a FAT Carp (almost 100% certain) surface. Knew it was a lucky catch on film when I was editing and noticed it. Thanks again M.J. hope you're enjoying the Fishing Vids! Ken
Those fish are actually salmon coming up to the fish hatchery
Thanks Juan for your comment on it. Seems by far the majority believe them to be Salmon. I also think they're Salmon. Least the ones we can see well enough. Thanks for swinging by the channel! Ken

Martinez are going crazy with keepers.pile and blood worms ..we been goin every weekend an limit out .give it a try anywhere around banicia area is good fishing right now
Thanks good buddy for the info! Nice to know where the bit and sizes are. We've used those worms in the past. Last 2 trips we did for Striper shops around here were totally out. Many other baits out of stock also. We'll see if we can get out there, we have a few planned trips. Martinez will be more distance than we normally go. Thanks again though! We hope you enjoy the fishing vids! Ken & Lea
Hello, I went to the Oak Grove trout derby yesterday, we had a blast caught our limit within 3 hours, we got there at 4:00am to get a good spot, and we did there were plenty of good fishing spots up to 8:30am then got packed. People stating to show up and wanted to squeeze a whole family between us crossing our lines. So we put a stop to that real fast closing in the gap with our stuff, if we didn’t do that it would have been a whole day of tangled lines and no fish. The early bird gets the worm. We were very kind and respectful to people who asked to fish between us, which was only about 6 feet. Most people understood and moved on and then there were one A hole started talking crap to us and the group next to us.
Hey Bluesky how you doing? Umm man that's great info thanks! Helps us all figure what's good or not with the locations. Heard 2 others say it was good, while 1 saying some people weren't doing well. Sorry about the tight spaces I totally feel you there. I always have the back of anyone I'm fishing with. Tension with others or not. No need for any of them to be A-Holes. That's why we no longer go to the Tournaments there tooo many people no space. Also why I set the meetup for the Weekend after. Sadly... looks like the weather will be back. We may need to move that to the following week. When it is on, be great to see you there! (We know you've hung with us for a few now, thx. Not a drop of pressure on showing). Ken & Lea
looks like a school of salmon found their way up there. definitely salmon that were rolling in the video
Yeah Dahookmob also agreeing with you. Think I'm in there with you two. Does seem like a Salmon. Though I thought fair chance that could be Steelhead or Rainbows. They have the dark back in the vids. A trip or two before this Lodi Lake trip I caught a few sweet fish surfacing. One pretty much clearly looked like one FAT and large Carp. Was so lucky to get that on film. Thanks for your info, hope you enjoy the vids buddy! Ken & Lea
Salmon are thick in the river right now they will “roll” kinda makes a splash but definitely a lot of them in the system right now…12:? Was definitely a salmon
Thanks for the heads up boss! For me it was hard to tell, even when editing. But I'm like well it's not a Bass, Sunfish, Carp and so on. Surely looked to be long/streamlined like a Salmon or Trout. My guess was Salmon or Trout. Get's your blood pumping though right? Man... you get any word on 2025 Salmon yet? Ken & Lea
I was hoping to see you guys at the trout derby at oak grove it was nice and peaceful for me and my brothers we all caught big trouts and had fun
Thanks good buddy, nice to hear. We actually tried 2 tournaments before there. Years ago. But had to battle to find a spot. People casting over each other. So we normally go after the Tournament. So sweet news on your catches! If you don't mind what type of Bait & Rig Setup? Thanks.... Ken & Lea
Salmon
Thanks Juan! I think there were 2 fish that jumped. If you seen the both in the video. Do you think they were both Salmon? My personal guess, the 1st one was either a Salmon or Trout. Funny it was BARELY in camera and almost off camera. Was lucky to get that on video. Thanks for watching Juan! Ken & Lea
Cool video
@@lisadiaz9271 Thank you so much, we're glad you enjoyed it. Sorry the Fish don't always show up. Sighs... but thought there was enough beauty in the video, deer and all to produce a video. Thanks for hanging with us! Ken & Lea
Hey Ken! I was actually at the trout derby at Oak grove today, the whole thing pissed a lot of people off. It was advertised that gates opened at 6:15am for the derby, they were letting people in at 5am. So anyone who followed what the advertisement said, got screwed over on getting a spot on the bank. Spent about 3 hours there with my buddy, didn’t catch a single thing. Was even more irritated seeing a group of about 40+ people just sitting in lawn chairs on the bank taking up good bank space and not even fishing and refusing to move when asked by other people and park staff. Even saw a couple guys taking well above their limit. We ended up leaving because tensions were getting pretty bad between myself and another fisherman who wanted to bump shoulders, snag lines, and be an overall A-hole. However, my buddy and I have been fishing micke grove in both the main pond and the fountain pond and have had good success on some big bluegill and crappie
Man horrible to hear that! Not good. We've fished it many times, twice during a Tournament. Never had a bad experience there. Except the Tournaments. Due to no space. For us it was family and kids casting over us. Consistently. Was no space to move. Normally we have PLENTY of space, not summer and not the tourney. That would have made for good video there! Sorry about the near scuffle. Been there so many times. That's why we set if after the tourney. Isn't Micke Grove around Lodi/Stockton area? If so, isn't that Catch n Release only?
micke grove is in between Lodi and Stockton. It’s a very small lake and pond, it is catch and release only but it makes for bigger fish. Me and my buddy caught a handful of bluegills from the fountain pond that were close to 3/4 of a pound. One of them even hit my buddies jerkbait. The few times we’ve gone, there’s been nobody else to contend with fishing, just the disc golfers 😂 i recommend it if you’re wanting to go out and just catch some fish and have a good time. I’d find it hard to believe anyone could skunk in that pond, the panfish and the bass are very aggressive, even when it was super cold like it was this morning my redworm barely hit the water before my line started moving away from me
You know was also thinking... you think MAYBE they let them in early cause the line was dangerously long? You know Interstate 5 is right there. Just thought of it. Heck... maybe they just got sloppy.
@ they do the event every year, they should know by now. Advertising gates open at 6:15 and then opening them over an hour beforehand is BS.
I saw the group of people who was just sitting not fishing taking up hella room… sad people are like that, sorry the hear that.
Those were carp that were jumping. Some days are fishing days and some are catching days. Still a fun video with those deer. Couldn't see good but if that buck had two on each side out west thats call a forked horn. East of the Mississippi that would be a 4 pointer. Out west we just count the most on one side. So if the buck had 3 on one side and 2 on the other its called a 3 pointer. Back East it would be a 5 pointer. Have no idea why its that way but it is. Thanks for the video
I thought that first fish was sure a Salmon or Trout. Was hard to tell, but looked more darker maybe greyish back. Also kind of longer, thinner. Less there are no goldish color carp? Ahhh maybe you're right. Have heard talk of both Trout & Salmon seen in there. I still actually enjoyed the day, many spots. Lots of wild life and stunning scenery! Thanks for the info on the Deer! Yeah my father use to refer to them as both. Most times by pointer. When excited at times called them a fork. Less they had a rack heh. About the uneven antlers, no I didn't know they'd call them that. Thanks David! (p.s. think it was last video gave you "another" heh Shout Out.
It’s salmon

@@m.j.greathouse456 Too kind friend, I also accept hearing it's bad points! Nice to hear both sides as it aids me in producing better vids. Wondering... would you say: Penguin sipping Iced Tea in the Artic during a Blizzard cool? Heh and I jest... well met M.J.... well met. Say one thing, this days vid. was BLOODY COLD by Cali standards. We're feeling the Cold Snap my brother.
@ Cool Weather Is Perfect For Big Striper 😎
It has been tough out there at least you're out there grinding. I haven't been out in weeks
So you mean tough in other lakes/delts/rivers? or some of that, outside of the Lake/Moke river? If so sorry boss.. but that's good info. This day matched that lol. Just don't raise me a Slow Fishing day with Snags atop it. Woosh. The sightings and calmness made up for it! Spoke to so many about it, but do believe you spoke of a trip sometime. If so we can make that more private, not like the mentioned gathering. Still hoping to see some names/faces there!
Side note, yeah hope we don't get like 2 weeks BAD weather in a row. That'll be tough. Normally don't fish in rains or winds over 10-12mph tops. Yourself?
Is night fishing allowed here???
Yes to my understanding it is open at night! Just for fishing from the Pier. The park and camping closes at 10pm. Hope this helps and hope you're enjoying the Fishing Videos! Good luck! Ken
Just being out there with someone you love is a blessing in itself. Catching fish is a bonus. Love your channel
Sorry for the delay Ray been super busy. Thanks for the nice comments buddy. Funny you mention the "Catching is a bonus" heh. That is indeed my tough point with fishing. I don't do boredom well at all. The other side of the coin when the bite is on or a GOOD day, man such a thrill (outside of it not being so pleasant for the fish, always bothersome). Thanks again... honor having you watching or perhaps enjoying the Fishing Vids. Ken
Thank u for the video can add the address im just got ca few months ago
Surely and sorry for my delay been super busy. Here is Lodi Lake Address, hope you enjoy your visits/fishing there! Personally I think it's the GEM among the cities around the area. Ken
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 thank u so much im like one hour i will go next week this weekend im going for mirror carb and Bay area
@@mustafanajm965 Thank you also friend for watching our Fishing Vids. Wow, of all meat from the water Crab is my FAVORITE! Alaskan King Crab is amazing! Many other types also. Hope Crabbing goes well for you boss! Oh so you're like 1 hour from Lodi Lake? That's not too bad. Think most fishermen set limits how far they will commonly go to fish. For me, maybe 2 1/2 hour drive max heh. California has sooo many AWESOME fishing places and over 700+ lakes! Plus the Delta is sweet for fishing! Ken
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 ya im not far a way last year I drive almost 15 hours to grass carp was amazing catch over 20 lb each one I watch ur videos 2 days ago was carp jump around u and look big maybe one day we can meet over there and try caught some
@@mustafanajm965 Wow that's CRAZY! Those are HUGE! Also crazy drive! I guess for a SUPER EPIC fishing trip. Normally the longest drive we "commonly" will make for a fishing trip is about 2 hours. Maybe 3. One way. Were we live though that gives us LOTS of options. From Delta water, to Bay, Ocean and the Mountains. So you seen the vid with that Fat Carp jumping on the left side of the screen? Think it was 2 Lodi Lake vids back. Wonder what Size/Weight it was. Sure we can set something up. I did plan to go back 1-2 more times. Did want to do purely Carp fishing one trip. I have zero experience fishing them. I did good amount of research though! Ken
For bluegill live bait I cut portions of the tail fin off so they can’t swim away from pray when on the hook.
Sure sounds like that may work/help. Alas I have a hard enough time using them as Live Bait. As I consider it crewel. We had fair amount of requests to see it, so I bit my tongue and casted out. When this one failed to make a catch since I hooked him through the nose he managed to live and swim away safely once released. Thanks for watch good buddy! An honor.... Ken & Lea
Salmon are back
In the Lodi Lake area? I was there again today (vid to come next weekend) did see a few fish jump. Know one was a Carp to be sure. Others no idea. All were fairly large. Hope they open Salmon next year. Thanks for watching... Ken & Lea
Congrats thanks you love your videos 🎣🎣🎣🎣🚣🏿🚣🏿🚣🏿🚣🏿🐬🐬🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟
Thanks boss! I'm at a loss for words... I checked everywhere for the words, in the back room, behind the sofa.... just can't find the words! So thanks again....sadly takes sooo long to edit the vids. About 6 to 12 hours each. Half that long for the fishing, I'd bet you had some 10 hour fishing days! Fish on brother... fish on! Ken & Lea
Can add the location im fishing for carp any of them around there thank u
Umm you want to know this location of this Lake? So you can fish for Carp? Or you want to tell us where to fish for Carp? Thank you also friend! We hope you enjoy the Fishing Vids! Ken & Lea
Ahhh ok yeah I got you now. Was clear, I misread it due to no punctuation lol my bad. Umm let me look up the Lake Address for you. If it's to the spots let me know I'll TRY to explain those (no road signs heh)
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 no my friend I am fishing for all around United States for monster carp specially in United Kingdom just for enjoy and the bigger carb in the world this what I’m doing this why I ask you if you’re looking for a salmon fish I can give you a spot there is 1 billion Salomon fish over there
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 also if you like carp fishing, I can give you a few spots. There is a monster carp but to be honest, I don’t like kill them. I just finished them and release them back.
@@mustafanajm965 Sure some Carp spots would be nice, thank you! I never fished Carp yet, but wanted to try. I do think and others say there are Carp in Lodi Lake. Sure many places have Carp.
I caught a blue gill that was red once by the delta not too sure what type it was but it was definitely a variety of panfish.
Thanks for the info and question! It's possible it WAS a Bluegill. To my understanding the Breast (small section under/behind the mouth/jaw) will change colors on a Bluegill. If it's White/Yellowish. Good chance it's Female. While the Males have Orange/Redish hue there. I think when matured perhaps also ready to spawn. There are 27 different types of Sunfish. I don't think we have all 27 in California. There's another called a Red Breast, Longear, Dollar Sunfish and Pumpkinseed which also have some Red. Where is the Red on the fish? What other colors/features did it have? Was there Red on the Tip of the Ear? If it looked A LOT like a Bluegill, but had Red on it's Breast, then mostly likely you caught a Matured Male Bluegill friend. Thanks again for asking... P.S. note also to my understanding the 3 Largest Sunfish in order would be: Crappy, Red Ear (shellcracker), Bluegill. Many of the other Sunfish don't get large perhaps 7"-10" for the smaller breads of Sunfish. Largest Red Ear I caught was a shocking 14 1/2" and weighed almost 2 pounds. Here's a short clip that shows it. th-cam.com/video/vFZi9pLC1js/w-d-xo.html Ken & Lea
Enjoy the video and really like the song and beginning of the video, that was cool.. Also what did you really have in that can of coke?????????????
Ummm let me see if I can find the name of that song, actually think I have it in the description. I still recalled that Country song you liked you mentioned oh maybe 2 years ago! Hey think I opened it on Camera... but maybe... was one of those OLD cokes, you know when the Coke in Cola meant something! Still shocked they ever did that! No wonder we're all hooked on it. It's in our DNA now.
Ok David it's called Around here. I got the song from Slipstream.com
Try a carp setup and you better have decent gear because there huge and they fight like crazy 😂
You meaning trying for them here in Lodi Lake right? If so, yeah totally had that in the plan! I'll admit though, I have 0 Carp fishing experience. Have done some research on it, still only know so much. Yeah we'd need some other equipment. Also thinking those Carp Bait Traps (holds a pack of bait by the hook). If your personal opinion you think there's enough Carp in Lodi Lake (and it's back river) to bother spending a day Carp fishing there? Thanks for the info! Ken & Lea
@ absolutely worth trying I’ve hooked up 4 to 5 times in the main lake same day in the front basically across from the park at one of the tables I use corn … there’s several ways to rig up so that’s up to you thank god for TH-cam 😆 I’ve hooked 20+ lbs carp there few times
@@dahookmob Thanks again man too sweet. Well I have seen vids like show kind of like a short leader line tied off the hook. That leader line actually has the bait. If that's correct. I wonder, will they take bait such as corn straight off the hook that's on your main line. Per say Carolina Rig? This sounds like good news!
@@dahookmob I once tossed out a Carolina Rig for them, the Bait was Corn & Raisins. Put directly on the hook. Think we did get 1 bite, not certain. Hook came up empty though. Seen another guy use Fig Cookies.
@ they will take off the hook but has to be small and you can’t run a heavy setup like you need the little leader off the hook is the way I do it
😎💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 love your videos amazing keep it coming
Thanks good buddy! The fishing surely is part of it. Seeing the fish, them biting and all. I do try to add little extra entertainment in the vids. Surely hard to please the masses! Tight lines boss... Ken & Lea
Good video ‼️
Thanks good buddy means a lot. Only 2 videos we ever put up with no fish, so was worried about this one. Filming was alright I recon.... thanks for hanging with us! Ken & Lea
I was just there a few days ago. Not much luck for me just a rock bass but the fish there do love to jump around. Nice catches and love the vids
Man sorry to hear that. Been same with me some days hard to catch there other days not so bad. I didn't see much jumping this time, but last trip to Lodi Lake saw some SWEET jumping caught many in the video. Thanks boss means a lot. Glad it was entertaining... tight lines boss!
Hell yeah! You definitely caught some bigger fish than I did that day. There at the end when you were fishing off that small wooden dock/walkway, try dropping a worm right off the edge of that little grassy area to the left. There’s TONS of pumpinseeds and warmouth under the rocks. And I mean they’re quite literally 2-3ft from the bank, they’re just under the rock ledges. When it’s still and clear enough you can see all the large rocks and concrete down in the water and you can watch them come out and take it. Just be careful, if they get you under those rocks they’ll snag you up real quick
Ahhh no doubt you had days where you bested me. Though I'm still trying to figure out the sizes Sunfish get in those water. Most our large ones been from Delta waters. Thanks again for that, been wanting the Pumpkinseed for soo long. So I'm down for that!
That’s an absolute stud!
It ended up being 14 1/2" and weight right around 2 pounds. So the one you said that 11" and it's weight sounded spot on! Yeah I was at a loss for words when that came out. Though fishing for small Bluegill, I knew it was too large. Thought for certain wasn't a Sunfish. I was wrong.
@ 14.5” is an absurd size for a redear, congrats man. That one’s almost worth getting a taxidermy mount for, definitely a trophy sunfish
@@DakotaMoon-p5n Recon was lucky for it to be right there and willing to bite. Our 2nd place doesn't even come close. Think we've caught roughly 6,000 Sunfish together. Yeah may have been a shocking mount. Odd thing was when I hooked it. Thought to myself, there is no way this is a Sunfish. Never felt one like that on the line. So still if we caught that 11" one you did. Would be our 2nd largest! So that was no joke you caught either boss. In Lodi Lake none the less!! Btw... this one was also caught in Lodi. In the Delta though.
@ when I caught mine I swore it was a crappie till I saw that he was green and not a white/silvery color. I’m probably close to that number for sunfish, don’t know the exact number but it’s well into the thousands. It’s rare for me to go fishing and not end up catching 20-30 sun fish or more along with other species like bass and carp and suckers. Have you caught a sucker out of Lodi yet? They put up a hell of a fight. The one I caught was on the left side of the lake and he was 26” and just over 7lbs. Caught him on a full nightcrawler. Just threw it in front of him and he came over and picked it up immediately. They fight like a weird mix between a carp and a bass, you get long, deep runs but crazy head shakes and they’re jumpers too when you get em up towards the surface
@@DakotaMoon-p5n Oh I'd bet you've caught that many if you fish them a lot. Recon that's why both of us enjoy fishing them. Not only that but the large variation on different types of Sunfish. No we haven't, seen someone catch one there. Didn't think they'd get that large though. Do want to target Carp in there one time. Hope there's enough in there to bother fishing them. Heh hard to go wrong with live worms!
Hey Ken have you fished on HWY 4 off first bridge coming from Discovery bay?
Hey boss... umm I know HWY 4. Roughly Discovery Bay. Is it fishing directly off a bridge? Or from the Shoreline next to it? In terms of using Drop Shots the Bridge/Piers/Docks work well. We use em off shore. Feel free to fill me it, have a feeling we haven't. Thx for asking... Ken
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 Hey Ken as your coming from discovery bay just as you get off bridge on bank to the left Ive seen folks there just wondering if its any good? guess ill try...let you know
@@Ifishazores Yeah heck thanks but you'd have to let us know. We've never been in that area yet to fish. Any info on it will be great! So recon pends of which of us gets there first, so they can inform the other. I'd bet it's a good spot based on the location.
Hey Ken it’s Dakota, You stopped and talked to me today at Lodi lake, I’m the one who showed you the carp I had just caught and gave you some pointers on hook size right there by the boathouse. It was good talking to you, definitely got some video watching to do👍🏼
Hey boss how you doing? Yeah the Carp deal, too sweet! I didn't cast out for Carp today. Had plans on purely Worms. Both Red Worms & Nightcrawlers. Did hook up some, will be roughly 4-5 days till this day's up. No worries right on! Let me know any thoughts on the vids boss. Also if you'd like to do a fishing trip sometime. Ken
@ doing good, killed it the whole day at the lake today. After counting and sorting photos I had over 50 fish. That carp I hooked was on a redworm! I usually use white bread or corn but that carp wanted redworm for snack today. Caught all different species from some small largemouth and spotted bass, a couple rock bass and warmouth along with all the redear sunfish and pumpkinseed. Even managed to catch a crawfish on the worm as well😂 if I see you out there I’ll make sure to come say hi
@@DakotaMoon-p5n Right on, was going to ask if you were still getting bites after I left. Also nice to know about the Carp on the Red Worm. Oddly we've never targeted Carp, the only ones we caught was on our Bluegill poles with Worms. Uncommon. We've caught some Warmouth before, NOT so easy for us to come by. Caught thousands of Sunfish. Red Ears are awesome as I'm sure you know they get BIG for a Sunfish. The Pumpkin seed man I need to see that photo. That's one that I'm TOTALLY trying to get. Of the 27 types of Sunfish we've caught Bluegill, Red Ear, Crappie, War Mouth, Green Sunfish and I THINK a Longear Sunfish (see last Lodi Lake vid or two back). For sure, we fish it from time to time.
@ I have managed to catch every single species of sunfish/panfish in Lodi lake. Next time I see you out there I’ll make sure to show you the pictures. A great spot for warmouth and pumpkinseed is actually right where you stopped and talked to me. Granted most are pretty small and will fit in the palm of your hand, but their colors and patterns are unmatched some of them are so pretty I’ve considered setting up a aquarium and having some as pets. And yeah the redear get pretty big, I’ve seen bass run away from them. My largest at Lodi measured 11” and was 1.32lbs on my scale. I also have 2 witnesses to me losing every bit of a 2lb bluegill right at the bank. Biggest bluegill I had ever seen and still one of my biggest heartbreaks
@@DakotaMoon-p5n First if I may. What genre of music do you prefer? I'll TRY to put that into the upcoming Lodi Lake vid. Should be ready by this weekend. If I may, from some research I did supposedly there are 27 different types of Sunfish part of the Bass family tree I believe. Supposedly California doesn't have all of them. I'm personally on the hunt for all that CA has. Sounds like you caught WAY more types then us. Warmouths so far we had only found in 3 locations. Green Sunfish in 1. Would be awesome to see the pics. 11" Red Ear is LARGE. When you have a sec here is the Largest Sunfish I caught to date. Think it's like 4-5 min in. th-cam.com/video/p8rz9NO0-Ms/w-d-xo.html
No need to set the hook if you’re using circle hooks…
Maybe not, but recon I still probably will. No harm either. Well very little if any. This trip we were actually extremely low on hooks. So we had to use some odd ones. Even Bass hooks for Senkos. They still hook up though. We hope you're enjoying the vids, fish on! Ken & Lea
@@hershisadventuresincalifor9725 From experience when using circle hooks, I “reel” into the fish for better hook ups. 90% chance of loosing the fish when “setting” the hook while using circle hooks. Many tutorials on TH-cam. Good luck!
