Fish TAUNT me at Lodi Lake! Jumping around me.. Will they win??
Giving Lodi Lake another go, found a GEM of a spot! But... it looks seriously shallow in areas, yet out some I see some depth! To my left Fallen Trees. To my right Fallen Trees. Still I'm seeing some fish jumping! Nice soft shore to stand on. Nearly surrounded by trees! Little grass path to sit on and a HECK OF A VIEW!
Let's bait up and start fishing!!

    Like the way you edited the beginning of the video. I am sure the fish jumping were all carp. At least you caught some fish better than no fish. The spray you were using is really good at catching fisherman, fish not so much. 🤣🤣🤣

      Thanks David. Only did a few like that. One was a Rio Vista Striper trip. Not sure boss, when editing think it was the 2 or 3 fish surface far back on the right side. Looked a bit like Bass colors. Grant you was too far/blurred for me to be certain. One thing for sure one of those last LARGE Fish sure looked like a FAT Carp to me! So worried if I cast Carp bait, like Corn or Oatmeal Mix that if no Carp bite. Nothing else will. Reason I rarely cast for Carp. Perhaps it's not that bad? Ken

      Thanks for the info boss! Been hearing that more than not about Lodi Lake. I took a raft in it some years back. Clear water day, in a good 40% of the locations we could see bottom. Nearly saw no fish. Same with the Shore Line. First two times I fished it some 3+ years back I only casted for Sunfish. Caught MAD fast action and LOTS of TINY Bluegill. Since... fished in maybe 4 times. Most times skunked. Then what you've seen. Grant you never casted the Senko out for Bass. But other Bass baits yea. Really you've caught Crappie there?

So does make one wonder, can it maintain a decent or even good number of fish? So I was thinking, they probably don't drain the back canal/Mokelumne. So figured more likely fish can set up there and not be forced out. Still the 1st fish caught was the 1st we've ever caught of it! Maybe now caught 7 of the 27 different Sunfish. Ken I’m actually commenting on a two month old video I just watched. In Rio Vista you used a crawdad. I think you said the crawdad was a surprise catch when you reeled in? I fish the dock further south in the rv park when I stay there with my trailer. Not a public spot unless you’re camping there. But I’ve reeled in crawdads a couple times. And my theory is that the river is loaded with them and they steal our bait. There’s no guarantee that our bait is moving in current behind the sinker. It could be sitting on the bottom and if a crawdad is on top of it, we won’t catch a fish. Why don’t we start experimenting with rigs that float the bait above the bottom a little?

    • @hershisadventuresincalifor9725
      @hershisadventuresincalifor9725 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Np, yeah we were packing up to leave. Pulled in a Crawdad. Decided since it was already hooked well to toss it back out. Is it only RV parking? We don't have one, can only pitch a tent. I wondered at times how well they can steal the bait. Mainly since we use Magic String. Recon possible... sure wish we knew. Considered sometime down the line getting a underwater line cam. Not sure how often we'd be able to see through CA Delta water. I hear you. Well least on that dock we can and do at times use a Drop Shot. Keeps us a bit off the bottom. Mostly it has indeed been Carolina rigs.

      Yeah of course at first I didn't know. First learned that it did (or I thought it did) about 2 years ago. So the DFG confirmed it does. In addition we weren't sure if people can harvest fish from Lodi Lake. Welp you heard it from them, we indeed can. Was a tad shocked when he said it also gets Trout & Salmon! Man they ICED Sturgeon season! Sighs.... Ken & Lea

      Hey what's up Alex & Rick? Yeah the first one what I think was a Long Ear was the first we've ever caught. Then at Oak Grove the first one there also I think it a new species! Would love to catch all 27 different Sunfish. If these two are two new ones. Then we've now caught 7 of the 27. We'll be checking your new vid within the next few days or sooner. Looking forward to seeing it! Ken & Lea

      Thanks for the info, on the Turtle had been sometime since we caught a Red Ear Slider. Since I couldn't see the sides of it's head and thought I recalled the top of the shell to have more color on the Red Ears. For the Carp. We surely were unsure this being the 1st or 2nd time we've ever caught them. We went with Buffalo Carp as it's what the majority of the people were calling it. After looking images up, it did indeed look similar. Umm do you know what difference people would look for between the Common & Buffalo? P.S. new episode premieres 8-29. Also thanks again for the info! Enjoy the vids! Lea & Ken

Thanks for spending time with us David... also great hearing what you've to say as well. Psst... next upcoming video (think it's the next one) caught a New Species of fish we've never caught before. Looks like a fun day at the park. I’ve walked around it and even had my aluminum boat in the middle but no fishing. Great to know about the fish diversity in the water! It’d be cool if you found a striped! I saw a video where someone caught a good sized largemouth. But the seem picky.

    Sick video but hey, try cutting up the ancovys into sections, and try smaller hooks. Bigger hooks for catfish, sunfish, redear, bluegill will not land it.

      @hershisadventuresincalifor9725 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Right on for the comment on the video, thanks! Well we were newer to this spot. Had an idea what's in there but unsure. We do know it has direct access to the Bays. So think we were casting the Anchovies out for Striper. Agreed on the smaller hooks. Most times when fishing Sunfish/Panfish we use small hooks, drop shot or bobber with Jumbo Red Worms or Wax Worms. For Catfish we have been using bit larger hook and either Chicken Liver, or Meat Chunks. Though they tend to bite of Anchovy and Worms at times. Thoughts are welcomed! Was some interesting catches this day.... tight lines! Ken & Lea
