9:54 FB Jeff Makovicka managed to get his head "in front" of the defender and seemed to hit from the defender's side, so I think this is not an illegal block in the back. What do others think?

These teams hated each other back then. (Still do, but not like in the 80s.) Sucks that Elway had average, at best, receivers. Imagine Elway playing a career with the teams Montana or Brady enjoyed. He'd own every record.

Got a huge amount of great memories of my times with The Broncos in Mile High. I have had season Tickets from 1976. The first year if Red Miller and hus acquisition of Craig Morton from Dallas. The next year, we were in the Superdome for Superbowl XII. (No we won't go into that yet. I have 4 more years of covered psych evals to show to the courts. Lol😅😢). From that season on with the creation of The Orange Crush Defenses.

The great NY Jet defense of 1981 and 1982 ; (Klecko and Co) were betrayed by the offense in both playoff games of those years; both were winnable. 1981 against Buffalo in which Todd had an exceptional game, saw Wesley Walker drop touchdown pass after touchdown pass; but to be fair he had bell's palsy that game which affected his good eye; he is legally blind in the other eye..he just couldn't see the ball and later came out of the game ..And then in this Miami game ;it was Todd and his 5 interceptions. The defense this day left it on the field allowing just one score. You cant ask for better than that.. Klecko hurt ;Salaam and Lyons hurt but they played valiantly. This was the end of a Jet era.. In the aftermath; Michaels fired, his loyal coaches resigned ;Joe Walton named as head coach to the chagrin of Michaels's loyal players. Also the beginning of the end for Richard Todd as a NY Jet. Walton never being a fan of his drafted a QB (Ken O'Brien) the following year; Todd was then traded to New Orleans in 1984. Just a journeyman's performance by the quarterback this day should have gotten us over the top; all we needed was a touchdown and a field goal.. The defense basically gave us the game. Todd should have been replaced since he completely lost his confidence; Pat Ryan could not have done worse . This was a huge tactical error. The best coaches in the game (Landry; Schula) would change QB's to give the team a spark . These were most crushing losses as a Jet fan; both playoff games.. Buffalo in 1981; and Miami in 1982...Although the hardest one for me was the 1969 KC Jet playoff game. The Heidi game killed also....To bad Parcells left us...Things would have been much different.

Love that Nebraska finally started getting better inner city athletes by this time. Colorado started getting less and it showed. I also liked how Miami could incorporate inner city thugs with tough-guy ethic white quarterbacks. This year and through the 90s Nebraska finally was able to win with the inner city thug athlete. Great years

Too much was made of Henderson's gesture. The cameraman focused on the "#1" towel & Henderson acknowledged him. Dallas was losing but not badly at the time. They'd already lost "Too Tall" to boxing. Dropping Henderson weakened an already weakened defense.

I recall this game only because Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson was cut the next day due to his antics on the sidelines while the Cowboys were being beat. Henderson had the talent and ability to be the original no. 56 before Lawrence "LT" Taylor made that no. famous for linebackers. In addition to run support, coverage, and blitzing, Henderson was an excellent return man. How many linebackers could return kicks? They both also had similar personality traits. The difference was that Taylor could, at least while he was playing, control "LT" while Henderson couldn't control "Hollywood." Henderson is a totally different man today and has acknowledged his mistakes. He's also had the last laugh by winning $28 million in the Texas lottery about 20 years ago.

Thanks to all the Miami players and coaches who put together this 1982 team. I was fortunate to have been at this game and got to run on the field after the game. In 1981 they weren't even picked as a wild card team - yet, they won the division. Then played in one of the most heart breaking losses and possibly the 2nd best playoff games after the Bills cameback from 35-3 to beat the Oilers. This 1982 strike shortened season team was all about Miami's running game and the Dolphins D. I think , including playoffs, in 13 games Miami's D forced around 39 turnovers. They also held teams to 114 yards a game passing. That's correct only 114 yards a game given up per game through the air. The rushing game gained 149 ypg. It was a phenomenal year and if not for Defense Coordinator Bill Arnsparger leaving and bouncing around from college back to the NFL - I do believe Marino would have at least a few SB Trophies.. I miss the football from the late 70s to 90s. Best football i ever seen across the league.

@@armandocataldi2364 I was 14 when I ran onto that Orange Bowl field after they beat the Jets in the AFC Championship game. My brother and I immediately went towards the goal posts, as many people did - back then sometimes in big games the crowd would tear down the goal-post and carry it around the city. I looked at it as 'we the crowd - 12th man' were showing off our trophy for cheering this team onto so many wins. If you ever go back and look at some games from 1981-1985 you will see how much noise we made (especially from the closed end-zone) that disrupted the QB so much they would sometimes get under the Center only to back out and cry they couldn't call their signals. Sometimes it would take 5 attempts to get a play off but couldn't because of the noise. Thats part of Home Field advantage.Anyway, they had Officers with German Shepards by the goal-post - so that Trophy never got carried around the stadium. What a day!!!
