It's sad that the Houston Oilers don't still exist. Maybe the Tennessee Titans will move to Dallas, and call themselves the "Dallas Oilers".

The Pats took the field completely demoralized, as Fairbanks announced he was leaving in the locker room. The owner was so pissed, he ordered the coach out of the room.

Mike Barber is now a Christian evangelist. The Patriots were 0-3 vs both Texas teams in the 1978 season.Despite all the young talent they had New England not see another playoff game until 1982.Their next home playoff game would not be until 1996.

Was Grogan HOF worthy, or more like Joe Ferguson and Jim Hart, a good QB who lasted a long time.

Great upload! Do you have early Seahawks Broncos games (1977/1978/1980/1981/1982 mainly)? Would be glad to trade for these if you have them

15:45 #7 to #00 for a touchdown against a maniac blitz. After the play, #56 of the Patriots seems to be congratulating Pastorini of his great play.

Is there a better video copy than this one? This looks like an old, beat up VHS tape.

This is brutal. For anyone else about to record a game, don't be cutting off the announcers mid sentence, it kills the flow. Fail.

This person does not know how to record from a video tape. You keep rewinding and pausing a tape.

Terrible VHS to VHS transfer. Resolution not quite as good as a flip book done with watercolors. But definitely better than nothing.
To be honest Pastorini did not possess the skills necessary to be a championship QB. At 23:11 rather than checking off or throwing ball away he throws into quadruple coverage. Amazingly it fell incomplete. On the earlier interception he didn't look off the defensive back and his eyes were glued on Burroughs even while dropping back.
The household I grew up in was a long-time Cowboys household. We could never understand why the Oilers stuck with Pastorini and only changed to sign an over the hill Kenny Stabler as part of the Oilers - Raiders player swap before the 1980 season.

It was the offense scheme. Hand to Campbell or throw deep. This was old school Oakland Raiders football with Daryl Lamonica.
Had they saved Campbell some wear and tear, and used Coleman and Carpenter and Wilson more, he might have had more than 4 great years.
This is why Bum got fired - he refused to hire an offensive coordinator, even after the disaster of the 1980 postseason. Stabler was horrible, as he had been the previous 2 years, and trading for him was stupid. Asking him to carry the passing offense when the Oilers did not have a great receiver was Bum's undoing.
I loved Bum, but he had a blind spot for traditional offense. This is what separates the Landry's and the Shula's from all other coaches - they adapted, and won with entirely different rosters and QBs.
