Meanwhile, BC definitely wanted to ruin it all, partly since ND embarrassed them the prior season... just a classic game.
We were worried about this game all season, my Dad, brother, and I. This sadly was the death of Notre Dame football for a long time. Today, three teams pretty much rule college football, so to have Notre Dame in the mix at the very least and winning 10 plus games again is a start rather than being an extreme embarrassment like they were throughout the 2000s

All Notre Dame had to do was win this game and they play Nebraska in the Orange Bowl for the National Championship. They had beaten Florida State to get to #1. This was a huge upset of that year. No one game Boston College a chance and they went in there and won. That gave Florida State a chance to get back in to the national championship against Nebraska where Florida State would win their first national championship ever.

Notre Dame guy but this was a great game. Two straight weeks of all time classics at ND Stadium.
