Welcome to GEAR to DI for, where we will discuss anything and everything 'Gear' related.
Di came to Colorado over 20 years ago and started spending a ton of time researching gear to take with her on her many outdoor adventures. Then, she got hooked! Now, SHE LOVES talking about Gear, SHE LOVES researching Gear, SHE LOVES buying Gear, and SHE also LOVES talking other people into buying Gear! She loves Gear so much that many of her friends suggested creating this channel - they even came up with the name - Gear to Di For! So, together with me, Amber, Gear to Di For is now a reality!
Di and I have had so much fun creating this show!

Glade Optics Adapt 2 goggles
The Glade Optics Adapt 2 goggles are guaranteed not to fog, which is the primary reason why I purchased them. The photochromatic lens automatically changes tint as light conditions change, allowing it to work in a range of different weather conditions. You can also change out the lenses if desired; I purchased the yellow lens as an additional option for low-light conditions.
The triple-density foam is thick and super comfy to wear against your skin, and the goggle strap is backed with silicone to ensure the goggles stay in place on your helmet.
The Adapt 2 goggles fit a medium/large face, but they also offer the Adapt 2S for a smaller fit. I opted for a larger frame size as I wanted the coverage to protect more of my face from the elements (icy winds/sun). The Glade Optics website features a 30-second “goggle finder” quiz to match you with the best goggles for your needs, which I found helpful.
Additionally, the Glade Optics Adapt 2 goggles don’t come with a high price tag like many other brands, which was a big plus for me when purchasing a new pair of goggles. The website often has its goggles on sale, so be sure to check them out at www.shopeglade.com.

What is in my backcountry ski touring pack?

I use a 40L Osprey Kresta- I love the zippered back panel for easy access to the main compartment. You can also access this space from the top under the lid which I find beneficial for hut trips when I am stuffing this pack to its capacity. Osprey doesn’t seem to make the 40L Kresta anymore so check out the women’s Sopris 40 or for men, the Soelden 42. - Osprey 3L hydration bladder: the insulat...
Black Diamond Glob Stopper Wax
มุมมอง 5107 หลายเดือนก่อน
For years, I've trusted Black Diamond Glob Stopper Wax to combat a common skiing challenge: preventing snow from sticking to backcountry climbing skins. This wax creates a waterproof barrier on your skins and significantly enhances your skiing experience. Why is it a Must-Have for Skiers? Ideal for Challenging Snow Conditions: Apply it before you begin skinning, especially on sunny days when sn...
Voile Scraper
มุมมอง 6087 หลายเดือนก่อน
The @Voile Scraper is an essential component of my backcountry kit. I always carry two during my backcountry tours-one conveniently stashed in my pants pocket for quick access and a spare secured in my backpack. This versatile scraper is highly effective in eliminating snow and ice buildup on ski or snowboard bindings, as well as clearing any accumulation beneath skins or on the base/edge of sk...
Kahtoola Microspikes
มุมมอง 1927 หลายเดือนก่อน
Product Link: amzn.to/3UBWjmO If I'm going hiking and there's the possibility of ice or packed snow, the @Kahtoola #Microspikes are always in my pack. They provide great traction in potentially slippery conditions. The "spikes" are quite aggressive, and while the microspikes are easy to put on/take off, I have kept them on for small sections of intermittent bare, rocky ground, and I haven't not...

Weighing in at just a smidge over 13 oz, this cook system isn't the lightest in the Jet Boil lineup (the Stash holds that title), but it can boil 1/2L in 100 seconds, which, in my book, is remarka...

ALPS Mountaineering Sleeping Bag Liner: amzn.to/3UEMioR Protect your sleeping bag with the @ALPSMountaineering1 Rectangle Sleeping Bag Liner! I've had mine for years, and it's still going strong. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching. Hoping it was informative.
Suppose to be nylon not polyester.
Thanks for letting us know! Slip of the tongue. We’re going in to put a correction in.
@geartodifor no problem, yes nyl9n is much more durable
What is the sizing like? I'm 5'9 and 145lbs and was curious what size you were wearing in comparison? Thanks!
The mediam size recommended height goes up to 5’8 (refer to kokatat sizing for more info. So based on that, I would recommend the large. My dry suit is size large and I’m 5’9, and 130 pounds but I like to wear a lot of layers.
I love Evernew bags and titanium cooking gear!
We love them too!!
Is that the 70 or 50 liter
Seems to be the 55L version.
Thx
Mine is 90 liter but they don’t make it anymore. They do make 100.
It’s 90 liters.
@@geartodifor do u know where I can buy one in that color way
Appalling durability - started falling apart within months. The place I bought them from said they are only good for very low km walking and nothing technical including steep hills! WTF
sorry for your experience. Mine are holding up great and use them for Multi day backpacking- off trail, mountain passes and the like.
Thanks for the video... Instead of using fuel tabs get some cotton wool pads and mix in some vaseline with the cotton wool, this is nice and light, they light easier and you can put a few in a plastic zip lock. They burn better as well.
Ya, my hubby has tried the vaseline balls and they are definitely a cheaper option. Nice tip, thanks!
I just purchased one of these, and they are really sturdy. I'm testing it this weekend! I can't wait.
What did you think?
Thanks for the honest review! Always been curious about Glade.
Thanks! So far I’m a fan!
Best invention ever. Don't go anywhere outside without Voile straps!
True story!
O boy
Thank you !!

Great vid! Love seeing the different items people see as essential (mines my tiny coffee pot).
How did you find this colorway WHAT
It looks like one of the peas made it out of the pot.
🤣
I got one a few months ago and I was kind of disappointed because it doesn't seem deep enough to sit uncomfortably. I'm not a very big guy either. I'm hoping it'll stretch more over time.
I haven’t noticed that the chair stretches but I hope in your case it does. Chairs can be a bit like pillow preference and it’s not easy to please everyone.
Would have been nice to see it in a small tent to try to judge height of seated occupant vs tent ceiling.
Good to know you use for resort skiing too! What type of skis do you have? I"m struggling to find skis/bindings that are compatible with the boots. Thanks!
My backcountry touring skis are Fat-ypus D’Riddim (118 underfoot) and I have the Marker Kingpin bindings mounted on them. I wanted bindings that have some releasability for in-resort skiing especially since I have had knee reconstruction. I love the skis and boots but next time I’ll probably use different bindings (more from a touring point of view) ….maybe Dynafit. I use my set-up in-resort with no issues, although I primarily backcountry tour and my Scarpa Gea RS boots are the only boots I use (except for my old Gea’s as a backup pair).
I seen a few cheaper one's that don't have the ribs to hold the insulation in place. Do these have that problem after time the insulation clumps up ?
My husband & I have not had any clumping issues. Like any down product it’s key to keep the feathers dry otherwise clumping might be a problem. We’re in Colorado and not using the booties in wet conditions, just cold and snowy. My hubby has had the booties for over 10yrs and mine for probably 5yrs and we use them primarily for winter backcountry hut trips.
Thanks!!
Amazing slippers, thank you so much for great video
Glad you like them!
Great video
Thank you!!
Perfect
Awesome review
Thanks!
Thanks for the review, I'll get this instead of salomon
Love the tucked in puffer 😂
Hi there, Thanks for the video. I've got a question. How tall are you? I'm sorry for that question, but I just want to give my girlfriend this hiking bag. So, I'm trying to get all the details possible.
Sorry for the late response. Osprey has a size chart as a guide. The packs have adjustable velcro for torso length. I have the size M/L and have it almost to the shortest adjustment.
It's a Beebe appearance! This video made me cold! Firepit looks amazing though. Looks well loved!
Finally!!! We need to get him on more episodes!
Nice review..thanks
Thanks!!
I, too, am a two-bandana-ist! My latest use of a bandana is as a loose face covering during hot days when the sun and heat are bouncing off the trail and frying my face. By tucking the corners under my hat, it can lay over my nose and cover my whole face and neck. I find it much more comfortable than a constricting buff. An added bonus is that this captures the moisture from my breath, aiding in the prevention of dehydration!
Thanks for your comment! I may have to try that out as I like to protect myself from the sun as much as possible.
Do you ever use tarps? I was wondering how well they would hold up as a tarp!
My hubby & I used a Zpacks Triplex tarp (for some reason they don’t make the tarps anymore) for many years and before that a Gossamer Gear tarp but after a somewhat recent backpacking trip with major mosquitos, we broke down and bought the Zpacks Triplex tent version. The polycro ground cloth would not be suitable as a tarp. Although it is puncture resistant on the ground it would not handle being set up as tarp. As an emergency shelter maybe but if it was to tear, under load, the material would continue to rip. I have repaired the random hole with duct tape or clear tape and it’s good to go.
watch a esbit comparison video before yours. on this one he put a 1 in to 1.25 bean can piece as a wind screen heat inhancer. by this i mean he focused & concentrated the heat from the tablet of fuel upward instead of outward. so he got a faster boil time. you may want to try this.
Thanks for your comment. I’ll have to check it out!
Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XTherm Leaks out the WingLock Valve /// I got a new one and does the same! slow leak.. Test your Valve by using a bowl or pool or anything that you can get the Valve underwater, test closed and open and see if your mat does leak before you go on the trail.. I even pop the top off and i was surprised it does not seat down to the rubber gasket! This would be easy fix for them, they just need the inside of the cap to have the round plastic under the cap to set more into the Tube around the rubber seal.. wwjd
Thanks for your comment. I have had zero issues with my pad but I hope Therm-a-Rest has warrantied yours.
Sue loves her 2 piece suit. Great feature of the pants is to use them for rigging in the am to stay dry by the river. Kokatat is the best for warranty service.
They’re not ugly! Naysayers be d*rned!
i keep hearing about this husband of yours. We need a guest appearance!
That looks really well designed, with improvements from my older products. And well-demonstrated.

The best seat that you can buy for lightweight backpacking by far. A necessity for every trip!!!
Totally agree!
Well done. Great hat!
Great review, an excellent light weight chair.
Subscribed. Great video and more to come I am sure.
Excellent and thorough!
