The April 2023 version of the ‪@ThermaRest‬ Neoair Xtherm is lighter, thicker, and has an increased R-value. Weighing 15.5 ounces for the regular size, it is 1.5 ounces lighter than its predecessor. It’s a half-inch thicker than its predecessor at three inches, and the R-value is now 7.3.
The Neoair Xtherm NXT has a new wing valve design, which allows for faster inflation/deflation. The Xtherm comes with a pump sack, stuff sack, and repair kit. Constructed of 70D nylon on the bottom and 30D ripstop nylon on the top. I’ve also found the mattress pad to be durable, and repairs are easy to perform.
This mattress pad is very comfortable and beats the competition when comparing weight and packed size. Some reviewers complain of that this product is noisy. There is a crinkly-type noise, however, neither my husband nor myself notice it while sleeping.
The Thermrest Neoair Xtherm is a game changer for backcountry sleeping comfort. Being so thick, it can handle uneven ground like a dream (excuse the pun!). I have the older version but I can only imagine the newer NXT model is even better.
$240 is a pretty penny for a sleeping pad but the Thermarest Neoair Xtherm NXT should last you for many years, and if you don’t sleep well while camping, then this is the pad for you.
