I am of the opinion that AI should be banned across the board. From all forms of entertainment and art. I was watching few days ago podcast that have big western autor book writer. They asked him if he was threatened by AI work. His response, I believe, was that any good author is going to be fine. That is the reason AI is so rampant and is going to get worse. People with hubris don't let them see that they are not different from all those people who used to produce stuff with skill and hands.

The algorithm brought me to your video and I haven't purchased or read any Manga or Anime since the early 2000's but your reasons for disliking comic books are the exact same reasons why I completely stopped reading DC Comics over 10 years ago and stuck with mostly Marvel Comics.

I'd have subbed them out for Fruits Basket (one of the best selling shojo titles) and Chihayafuru (for some genre diversity. It's a shojo sports manga with a stellar anime adaptation. Unfortunately the English manga is only officially available through digital release rn)

I know this not a popular take, but I don't care if AI or a human does translations. All I want in a translation is quality and consistency. If AI can translate well, and keep it consistent for a series, then I'm all for it. That means we can get more translations and quicker. But with the state of AI currently, I'm not so sure that is possible at this time. I also understand that there is an inherent human element to translations that can really set the stage for how characters come across to the reader. I've read some of the same manga chapters, but from two different translators, and both had a unique style. Since it was in the middle of a series, the translation that I had been reading was fine, and the other felt quite off and the characters seemed completely different.

Problem is the localizers are the ones that worsening the issue, they have injected their own politics and changing the author meaning of their books or works. Thus the call for AI translation, this is a prevailing issue that not only in manga but games from JP as well got their translations being messed with and change to suit the Western audience. Which itself is already muddy and trying to own the works of the developers or authors, another western influence that is more outrageous is the assassin creed issue, a western professor is found to have created fictional changes in the lore of yasuke in Japan historical works and have earn money out of that scam. Asian people are now slowly realising westerners are trying to own the culture and works that isn't theirs.

They’re pretty accurate actually. Much better than what is being offered by politically motivated “translators”. Translators did this to themselves. Turning traps & femboy into trans allegories & such. Translation does NOT need creativity. That’s for anime dubs. Translations need to be ACCURATE & not POLITICALLY MOTIVATED!

Let's be real, if I were a translator, why wouldn't I just pop it into ai, then just proofread it to make sure its good? Makes the job quicker and easier. It's like the thing when teachers say you have to do math by hand because "you won't always have a calculator" but that just isn't true anymore.

AI is a tool. Tools make jobs easier. They only need a few translators to proofread the AI's work and be done with it. Will people lose their jobs over this? Yes 100%. If AI can make you lose your job, you simple are not needed. It sucks, but its the truth. People won't read AI created manga, but they will read AI translated manga that was originally written by a human.

Ugh. AI translation are just not good. I get why corporations want it but I don’t want to pay money for something that bad... the technology just isn’t there yet.

To comment on what you said about “why would you have the translator check if the ai translator did its job well.” It’s probably future proofing so that they don’t have rely on hiring and paying translators. Thus they save money over time. At the end of the day the true problem with these companies is *greed.*

It's so sad to see this happening more and more. I understand things change and evolve and we can't stop it but the focus being so much on the monetary aspect just makes it so that I personally don't trust that they care about the quality. It sucks people lose their jobs but just thinking about the end result, I think it could work that the AI first translates it and then a professonal goes through it again to fix things but to also make sure that nuance is not lost in translation and that the translation fits the overall vibe of the story. But I just can't see them care enough to give a professonal the time and the money to do this and instead they'll just get some underpaid person to go through it guickly to make sure there's no huge mistakes.

Maybe if so many the translators just translated and didn't put their own spin on the translation and story their augment would be more valid for at least the next few years but they have brought this on themselves in may respects in the West

6:39 Having read Ancient Magus Bride, I think the person who proof-read it either didn't know Japanese or just didn't know anything about the story lol. That's the difference, they can pay someone minimum wage to just fix the very obvious grammar errors and call it a day. I love Magus Bride so I was willing to try it out but reading the AI translation felt like a fever dream almost. The sentences all made sense on their own but put together I wasn't sure if i was really reading English or not lol. I hope to god Sevens Seas uses an actual translator for the physical releases

March comes in like a lion has 2 volumes out and they release hella slowly. They have two covers for volume 2 the normal one and one that kentaro miura made for the magazine since they were both in the same magazine. 17 volumes in total with about 2-3 volumes a year coming out so I hope it gets faster but who knows…

To this day this game and it’s predecessor are one of my favorite games that Nintendo has ever put out. If you spent some time learning how to use your controller for the game it might be more fun.

Totally understand not liking the way dialogue is done in Ao Haru Ride and reading more of it probably wouldn't change that, but for me it is definitely one of those stories that take a bit longer to connect to the charactes, but for me it paid off and I really enjoyed the story. I think especially Kou is meant to come across as more distant and kinda like a douche in the beginning so it takes some time to come to care more about the characters. And I understand that for some people that's a big minus, but as someone who watched the anime and read the manga at the ripe age of high school I really enjoyed the lowkey emotional angst and the time the story took to tell about the charactes. The romance is quite slow and even the anime barely gets to the meat of it, so if you don't vibe with the way the story is told or the characters I understand dropping it or not liking it. I also get how not all understand why Futaba still likes Kou even when he acts the way he acts, but as someone who is a sucker for fiction where sometimes the love interest is a little bit a douche, I totally ate this up when I read this and it still has a soft spot for me.

Hey brother glad you youched on this. I see a lot of people end up leaving. Ut remonded me when i was a kid there wasnt a follow your dreams outlook in my immigrant family. My parents were oretty pragmatic, were sending you to school yo make a living. Im womdering if theyll either outsource anime yo companies where they can pay animators even less or just A1 the whole thing. Also even though im not into anime manga as much as i used to be if you want to read somwthing give nejimaki kagyu, ghost fixers, or the matsumoto cycling manga that just cane out on the manga plus app a try.

While mha, i'm just not as interested in it as I was when it first started about 8 years ago, but it's still good enough for me to pick up the next volume every few months.

Would immediately jump at one piece in hardcover/deluxe. I've been mostly anime only until around wano, where i started reading weekly chapters on the sj app. I love one piece, but at least for the manga, I only ever picked up like 3 stray volumes just on a whim while shopping for other stuff. I told myself that if one piece doesn't get some nice hardcover release in about 3 years, I'll just cave and start buying the box sets

This is a terrible idea. The anime needs a complete overhaul and thank God for Wit stepping up to the plate, but the manga?? Hell no.

My biggest issue is price, it's so expensive sometimes, my second issue is when a serise I really like doesn't end, it just keeps going and going and eventually you have to lookat it and say that's enough

There's Manga I got back in 2014 like Blue Exorcist & Nisekoi that I still haven't finished collecting or reading & SGT FROG which is the Series that started my collection I think I first read that around 2007/08 I've got Vols. 1-19 & 21 I've pretty much read 1-19 multiple times but Vol. 21 I'm only halfway through because I still need Vol. 20 & it's pretty difficult to find especially in UK...The Series continued in Japan but 21 Vols is as far as it got in English

Shoujo, Shonen, Josei and Seinen are *demographics* and within those there are a plethora of different genres. Just like you can have slice of life like Skip and Loafer and action series like Vinland Saga both under theseinen demographic umbrella, you can have lots of different genres in the shoujo demographic. It's true that, for example, shounen tends more towards action and shoujo more towards romance genres, but a lot of that has to do with marketing, which has to do with gender roles and expectations, which has to do with how we are raised as kids, which has to do with sexism, which has to do with why shoujo and josei manga are seen as both less profitable and less valuable in a storytelling sense. There are a lot of creators who have said this better than me - Colleen's Manga Recs, for one, who has been recommended to you in other comments, so I'm not gonna repeat what others have said. Always glad to see people branching out, especially into shojosei manga!
